Hi all,
Can anyone suggest a good tasting brand of veggie hot dogs? I have tried some in the past and they tasted more like cardboard.
Thanks,
Jeannie

Field Roast are the best, in my opinion.

You might also consider making your own.

    Here's a great recipe:

Not sure where you are but Quorn are pretty good. Tivall used to be nice too.

We tend to use own brand Sainsbury or Tesco and they do ok.

I like lightlife but I also never liked regular hot dogs and haven't eaten one in >20 years...

I eat the lightlife regularly, but I think they taste horrible, to be honest. I just eat them because they are cheaper and lower calorie than others.

I'm a fan of FieldRoast as well as BeyongMeat and Tofurky, all are pretty good, but then again, I also make my own seitan and eat about 4lbs of that a week in addition to tofu and tempeh as well.

I've never tried FieldRoast....but I have to say all the Qorn stuff I've ever had has been too salty. Which is funny since I do like regular old meat hotdogs...provided they are all beef or all turkey.

I find that they are all pretty high in sodium. You either get used to it if you eat them alone like I do, or you add them as ingredients to things to cut it down. My overall sodium intake is quite high, but based on the volume of water I drink and the climate I live in, my doctor has never expressed concern, and he is quite aware of my diet.

What store have you gotten the field roast? I think with veggie dogs it's about the toppings. None of them will taste like the real deal. I've been vegetarian for 16 years so I am just used to the taste I guess.

If you go to the FieldRoast website, they have a store locator that you can use to tell you the nearest store that they know is carrying their product.

Try carrot hot dogs! I've yet to find a brand of veggie dog that is worth it, but the carrot hot dogs were not bad! You can google a couple different recipes....I used the Edgy Veg's version.

Not sure if this is available where you live, but I like Yves Tofu Dogs.

Note: Yves sells both Veggie Dogs and Tofu Dogs. The Veggie Dogs are terrible. Buy the Tofu Dogs!!
