Can't fit in my scrub pants Can't wear my wedding rings

Great message. I hate excuses!

I've heard this about Asian culture (that it is acceptable to openly comment on someone's weight gain/loss). I would ask her to stop "hey can you please refrain from discussing my weight? It is making me uncomfortable" and see if that helps. If it doesn't I would just tough it out until it was over. It's really not a huge…

My toddler makes me color by pushing the crayon in my hand. These toddlers be crazy.

I would definitely log those. Bananas can be up to 200 calories, an apple 100, etc.

Actually if you are overweight/obese it is perfectly acceptable by medical standards to not gain ANY weight while pregnant. (meaning you are losing body weight while gaining baby/etc weight). The baby takes from the woman's extra nutrient stores if you are not eating the excess 300 calories. My OB told me not to eat any…

I have a mastiff too! We both really need to walk off our winter weight (central MN here). How big are yours? My guy is 160 lbs in winter and about 145 in the summer...pretty huge difference. He is getting old and doesn't like to walk as far.

"Traci Mann says the emphasis should be on measuring health, not weight. "You should still eat right, you should still exercise, doing healthy stuff is still healthy," she said. "It just doesn't make you thin."" This doesn't make any sense to me. I get that studies show that if you exercise a certain amount it reduces some…

I've been wanting to do one for a long time but haven't had the courage (I have the book and everything lol). Anyway I'm going to Mexico next week or I might join you! Just wanted to post and leave this here, this website so awesome for recipes. Also make sure you check out Pinterest.…

So true! People like to blame a slowing metabolism on age, but the effect is minimal until you add lifestyle factors. If anyone were to watch how active the average 5-year-old is vs. the average 50-year-old for one day they would see this quite easily.
-
What does height have to do with metabolism?? I'm 5'7 and I haven't weighed 125 since about 6th grade.

^^^This. You also need a different coping mechanism, because there will always be stress in life. I'm currently working on this issue, I don't really binge, but I definitely turn to overeating unhealthy foods during times of stress.

^^^ How is her body image "wrong" when she said she looked "damn good" at that BMI? She said it was "mid-to-high" because from 18-24.9 it IS definitely middle range. Is it just the word "high" that is qualifying you to diagnose her having a bad body image?

How old are they? Can't they still take walks with you? Pack snacks so you aren't tempted to eat out, or get something healthy. I don't know your climate, but it's really cold where I live so to stay active we can go swimming indoors, I can take them to the gym daycare. Or we can go sledding, build a snowman, trudge…

I hate working out on an empty stomach. About a half an hour in and I am done (and cranky. and shaky). I like to eat a little something before and then a bigger meal later.
-
Also, buy a bigger size in undies (or is that a swim suit??)...too small isn't doing you any favors! You are NOT fat at all and your butt/leg area doesn't look heavy. I blame the undies!

Start lifting HEAVY weights. You can't spot reduce. You'll probably have to lose a few more lbs. Eat lots of protein and hit the weight room. I LOVE New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women...it has 6+ months of workouts that don't take a ton of time.
-
If you were eating too little you would be losing weight. It sounds like you are on the right track and I bet now that you have a food scale you'll start seeing more weight loss!

At 33 I don't feel the media pressure at all anymore. I definitely felt it as a preteen/teen though. I remember wanting to look like Kate Moss, which was totally unrealistic for my body type. The sad part is I wasn't overweight by any means. The happy part is I outgrew this mentality.
-
Interesting post. It sounds like you've already made up your mind. Obviously not very many of us are falling for this supposed huge pressure because the majority of us are overweight/obese now (well I'm not sure about Australia but here in the U.S., Canada and Mexico). While I don't think it's healthy to have an…

So make dinner at your place and bring it to his. You are making this way more complicated then it needs to be.

"We eat out a lot and each others routines mean we end up getting take outs sometimes because, for example, he'd had to work late unexpectedly and we didn't do a "big shop" at the weekend so there's nothing in." I'm confused, why can't you just prepare dinner when he works late? You get your healthy meal and he gets to eat…

Good for you!!!! Good luck with your goals:)

Maybe she meant nutritionally speaking? I've heard that the nutritional education in medical school is somewhat lacking but maybe that is inaccurate.

Both posters above have great advice. Your baby needs fats for the brain and calcium for his/her bones. I'm sure you already know carrot sticks are not high in calories so I am not sure why that is your example. Change carrots to almonds and you'll be fine.
-
Why do you need permission from a message board to change your calories?
-
I think we are thinking the same thing. Be prepared for a million and one excuses people...NOT WORTH IT
-
Do you work at a grocery store???? I'm getting serious deja vu here.
-
How on earth can you eat paleo with no meat??? Anyway I would just ask him to try not to eat it right in front of you. He can go in another room, it shouldnt be that huge of a deal.

If you like what you are doing then keep going. It isn't necessary to cut out food groups but if you don't have a problem with it and think it will be sustainable, then go for it.
