Wendy's Jr. cheeseburger is tasty.

Thank you for that article--it looks both interesting and accessible, which is great for me, since my eyes tend to glaze over with too much technical stuff. I've bookmarked it so that I can refer back to it later if I want to do so. Lrdoflamancha, can you explain "insulin?" I have been taking metformin for insulin…

See, I just can't imagine forcing myself to eat or drink something that upset my stomach (which could mean a sensitivity to it) or that I didn't care for the taste of. Expensive or not, it would go to a friend or in the trash. To each his or her own, though--and the point about drinking it on an empty stomach is a good one.

I will definitely second the Kraft Roasted Red Pepper Italian. I'm also enjoying a light raspberry vinaigrette, but I'm too lazy to get up and see who makes it right at the moment.

If you are getting sick from drinking green tea, then you probably should not drink it. Maybe you should get the antioxidants from other sources?
-
If you have allergies you have allergies. Why not deal with them instead of going with pseudo-science?

Wow, condescending much? I never mentioned anything about a lack of understanding of supply and demand. I learned all I wanted to know about the free marketplace in grade school and at university, thanks. I still don't get your point about waste. At what point do you feel waste occurs and how on God's green earth did you…

It's not a documentary. It's propaganda.
-
The problem is that propaganda does not a documentary make.

I'm still not following you, since you seem to write a lot and not make your point totally clear. However, I do have a couple of points I can address. First, I'm still not clear on the "waste" aspect. There is "waste" in the conventional farming/food manufacturing process due to uniformity or the lack of it in natural…

Bad guess. But ad hominem attempts at redirection provide bad support for an argument. I do have my own garden and do have my own dairy goats and am making a second attempt at meat rabbits. I process deer for hunters during the fall and winter months and both eat venison myself and feed it, raw, to my dogs. How close are…

Other people mentioned beef before me, so no, I expanded nothing. Your argument is an emotional one, not a factual one. Chickens don't utilize a lot of space and prefer to crowd together. Yes, they should be able to stand up, but you're exaggerating the issue. It is a fact that over 90% of all farms are still family-owned,…

I'm not sure what you mean by that. However, one thing he was referencing was the ease with which an organic crop can be wiped out, in comparison with a conventionally raised crop. Yes, organic farmers can and do use some pesticides, but they are often less effective than those used by conventional farmers. Heirloom seeds…

I have a friend with an organic garden. It's not huge, but it feeds him all year round and it supplies another half-dozen or so people with periodic meals, as well as veggies and such for canning. He is very proud of his garden and there are definite differences in the veggies he produces and those sold in local stores, at…

Apparently, they are connected with hormones somehow, but she does have some ear problems--good thought there. She sleeps irregularly and has tried moving her bedtime to be a bit earlier. I'll pass on the food suggestions--I never would have thought about pumpkin seeds!

Thanks, I didn't know that about Luna bars. I've suggested hard-boiled eggs, too, and she really likes the jerky and Greek yogurt suggestions. She has a hard time with chickpeas, though, so hummus is out. :(

Why would that be any easier than just eating what they are eating, but in smaller portions?

5' 1" and 143 pounds, 54 years old. I have my calories set for 1200 calories, but I eat back most of the exercise calories I record. I record about 3/4 of the exercise time I get. If I tried to stay at 1200 for long, I'd constantly be hungry and grumpy, but I seem to manage it on days I get little to no exercise. I'm…

With that little protein, how does your body repair itself of even the damage done by daily living? How does the brain function with so little fat for processing?

Do you eat a snack before going to sleep? If not, maybe you can schedule a couple of hundred calories toward it. I need to take medication before I go to bed, so I always schedule a cup of mint tea, which relaxes me, and a snack such as a hard-boiled egg, a 100-calorie bag of popcorn, a small bowl of ice cream, or a Snack…

I'm pretty sure that my salad with lite dressing cancels out my bologna sandwich for a zero nutritional value. Oh well, it tasted good. :)

I will grant you that. But the child is not being abused or neglected, apparently, or being treated in such a way that would cause her immediate harm. There are probably plenty of children who actually have a need for teacher intervention in their lives. Passing judgment on what the child is eating for breakfast and…

Still not your business.

Yes and no. The first is making the argument that the situation is true because Emotion. The second makes the claim that Something Must Be Done because Emotion. I'm just glad that Godwin's Law hasn't been applied yet. Edited to Add: Maybe we could call number 12 the "Sally Strothers fallacy" or the "Do it For the Children…

Are you actually unable to go, as in constipated, or are you just not going as much? If you are eating less food, you're not going to "go" as much, either.

It's not abuse. It doesn't come close to meeting the standards of abuse. Do you realize that in this paragraph alone, you have a dozen logical fallacies? I can't even begin to tell you how glad you're not teaching my grandchildren. " If their POS parents can't care about their children's future or lives, it's time to step…

Any teacher who calls a person a "POS parent" because his or her child is eating Doritos needs to take a big step back and remove him- or herself from the situation. Objectivity has long since flown out the window and the teacher is at risk of creating a greater problem. A bag of Doritos is not the same thing as a beating…

No. Your job is to teach. Taking away the child's food and passing judgment on his/her family's lifestyle is beyond the scope of your job description.
-
Unless the child is your child, it's not your business.

I agree with this idea. In my opinion, schools should only intervene in safety issues.
