@PastorVincentWhen There's an app for that! Seriously  Well, lots of them probably, but I started using this one beginning of February. At that point I could to 0.5 real push-ups and about 5 incline push-ups with my hands on the coffee table. I let the app remind me Monday, Wednesday and Friday to do my training.…

@7lenny7 I am confused every single time I hear that advice. Usually for me a cold involves a sore throat. Is that above or below the neck? :D Sometimes I like running despite a cold, if it clears my nose. Other times I already need to sit down on the stairs leading from my sixth-floor-apartment outside to take a break…

So, it looks like March is already one third over? How did that happen so fast? I only went for 5 runs so far. But some strength training / cross training too, so overall it's fine. Still - trying to get in a minimum of four runs instead of three next week would be better! 1.3.19 rest 2.3.19 7km run, fitnessblender lower…

@katharmonic Congratulations on completing the Spartan race!!! I was waiting eagerly to read your race report  Sounds like you had a blast! I didn't know there would be so much sliding instead of running ^^ Out of personal curiosity: how much did you help each other in the team, would it have been much harder on…

@MegaMooseEsq I live in France, but quite close to the Swiss border. Hence also my usual mess of currencies when I talk about prices - living in a little French village -> buying running gear online in Euro, but looking for a "local" shop -> head over across the border to Switzerland. The nearest big city for me is Geneva.…

Regrets: (if shoes count as gear) A pair of On running shoes. With fancy "cloud pod" soles. After running my first half marathon three years ago, I decided to treat myself to a pair of new shoes from a real running store (usually I buy my shoes on sale online). So I drove to the next big city. They talked me into these…

@girlinahat and @PastorVincent That's exactly what I'm scared off about the Spartan race: not the running, but the upper body strength :D I go climbing every now and then, plus some strength training with dumbbells, but I still cannot do a single pull-up! I think I will have to start carrying some of these resistance band…

Still a day left in February, but I don't think I'll run tomorrow. So I added an extra 2km after my interval run tonight, which brings me to 100.4km. At least that looks less depressing than 98.4 would have been. The only two months in the past year I ran less were March 18 (similar reasons as this month) and June 18…

@katharmonic 's It's a shame that you can't run during your trip! I guess your back pain also put your pull-up challenge on hold? @abowersgirl Well done! You will nail your goal :+1: @lporter229 That's quite interesting, thanks for sharing. So the way to focus on glute activation is to lift the legs higher? Because I often…

@PastorVincent I guess you already did your run now, but - why can't you do the tempo run outside? Is it some really complicated workout with many different paces, or simply a set fast pace? My watch (Tomtom) has the option to run a "virtual race" again a dot on the screen  , requires a moment of preparation at…

@MobyCarp Congratulations for the 1st place AG finish! @martaindale Congrats for the 10K PR. And a belt buckle as race bling, how cool is that? B) @ariceroni Kudos on your double-digit long run! @shanaber Your post reminded me that I should wear my arm sleeves more. I always forget that I have them, and end up starting…

So, it's good I didn't set a goal for this month yet. Had an insane work week last week because I was last-minute asked to give a presentation at a workshop today. On a new-for-me topic (i.e. at least I've never given a talk about it ). Spent all evenings/nights preparing it and only did short runs, no strength training,…

@MegaMooseEsq in summer I have more issues storing things. In winter I wear a vest on top, with pockets. Never considered wearing my cycling jerseys for running, but I guess there's no reason not to! @garygse and @rheddmobile great race reports! @eleanorhawkins great job on completing week 5 of c25k! Your ramping up-plan…

@Azercord thanks! I'll add the renegade rows to my training. I only have round dumbbells (not hexagonal like I saw in the tutorials I found), let's see if that makes it more interesting ^^

@MegaMooseEsq Great race report, and great running, congratulations! @ddmom0811 That would make me nervous if I was on a ship full of people who are one by one getting ill! Glad you stayed healthy and passed your fitness goals :+1: @shanaber Yes, I guess I won't ever learn proper pushups by complaining that I can't do…
-
@amymoreorless Congratulations on your marathon finish!!  :+1: Re: push-ups / pull-ups challenge. I should probably do both. Because I fail at both! Every now and then I decide I want to learn how to do proper push-ups (I can do 5-10 knee or incline ones) or pull-ups (I can do 0), but I always get…

@Avidkeo The one where I posted the link earlier, with the pockets  , don't have a draw string. I just looked, they have them in Australia too, although only in one color it seems. I have the same ones in 3/4 length too, also with many pockets and no drawstring. I think those are from their "trail running" line. I…

@Scott6255 Congratulations on finishing your first marathon! And in a great time too! Almost 20min faster than my PR, so I find it impressive :+1: And you ran all that without your glasses, and with hand-warmers in your shoes? Sounds like extra difficult. @louubelle16 @mbaker566 @rheddmobile @RunsOnEspresso Congratulations…

I would love to, but the time zones are against me... We get a total lunar eclipse here, but it starts at 4:41 am on Monday morning. Not my preferred running time!!! --- I can't compete with some of the cold running temperatures in this thread. My coldest runs last year were around -7°C (19°F). It usually doesn't get any…
-
@7lenny7 Woohoo, welcome back to running! @Kimtrooper 41°C? I'd be dead! We had a couple (too many) 35°C days last summer, I'm already not sure how I survived that. I think for a month the temperature in my apartment never dropped below 28°C *shudder* I'm glad winter is here :) @taxgirl1 Well done for starting C25K again!…

That's brilliant! Not only for bras, but I also have some base layers for skiing that have pad inserts at elbows and knees, and they move around in the washing machine too. Will give the safety pins a try!

@amymoreorless I should have a closer look to really do a fair comparison of the programmes. Of the top of my head, I think I just liked some of the videos of "Strong" better, the "bored easily" ones for example. "Mass" seemed to have more videos with HIIT intermissions, which I didn't like so much. But I can have a closer…

@Mooz11 if you force your browser to reload the page (Ctrl-F5 on my firefox), it should also show the updated ticker. There's a really long list of key combinations for different browsers on Wikipedia, you should be able to find one that works for your computer there.

I second (third?) the advice to get a food scale. It's really hard to estimate correctly most of the time. Just one example: the cereals I eat for breakfast have the calories listed for a serving size of "30g cereal with 120ml skimmed mild". I measured with the scale, I eat between 40-45g with ~160ml of whole milk. Just by…

Totaly belated: Happy new year everyone! Good thing I didn't make "keep up with the challenge" one of my resolutions, because I would have failed already... About time to set a goal for January! I finished December with 155km, I'll try for 170km in January. I'm at 44km so far, so it should be doable. Unless we finally get…

I'm so jealous of you! I now live near two ski hills (30min drive each) and took Wed-Fri off this week to start the year with some skiing. But it's been much too warm for the season, all the snow that fell in mid-December has melted, and 0/48 slopes are skiable. :'( I would go no matter what weather. I only learned to ski…

Sunshine! Today the sun was shining. Honestly, I think this was the first time in at least two weeks that I saw the sun. Still at my parents place. My father suggested driving to the neighboring village for a change and walking in the dunes there, so the entire family piled into the car. It was crazy windy at the coach,…

Once somebody told me that cycling gloves have a soft absorbent fabric (rather than e.g. leather or nylon) in a patch between thumb and index finger so that you can use it to wipe your nose while riding. I studied all three pairs of cycling gloves I own, and, indeed, they all have this soft patch. Now I'm a bit reluctant…

I never even heard of the song  But you have "Last Christmas" too? For me it isn't Christmas until that song has been played. Usually many many times ^^

@eleanorhawkins I guess it depends on what you consider really expensive. The outdoor-to-indoor trainers start around 60 Euro (e.g. this one - which at least where I live is equivalent to 10x swimming pool entrance fee, not accounting for transportation cost to get to/from the pool). With that type you have to remove the…
