  • How would that equate to a fail? There are calorie counts available, if you ask, for most chains if not all thus there's no real reason to print it on the menus. You want to know that badly, ask- if they don't have it available eat somewhere else. They're under no obligation to make sure you make healthy choices, that's…
  • As someone that waited tables for several years, I've never, ever had an allergy cross contamination on my watch. Ever. Kids the elderly, mom... doesn't matter. I've never had someone suffer an allergic reaction to their allergens in my section. Why? Because they ask if there's an allergen in a certain dish, I know the…
  • Thank you. More rules don't equate to more success.
  • No. You're demanding someone else make it easier for you to eat out and stay within a calorie budget.
  • I see that point. But "I'll take the grilled chicken skewers with the pineapple salsa!" sounds the same whether you order it off a menu with a 'lite and fit' section or one where it's all listed together. Listing those nutrition facts is what makes it stand out to begin with, not that the rest of it doesn't have any…
  • As long as all health code regulations are upheld then there's no harm nor foul. Seriously if you order boneless wings and french fries what do you think you're putting in your body? If 'grease and preservatives' don't come to mind instantaneously then I don't know what to tell you. If you order that salad with the grilled…
  • Certain fast food chains here in the states do that, too. McDonalds comes to mind instantly. However I think everyone is referring to places like Applebee's, Chili's, TGIFridays, ect.
  • I was referring to the cost of making everything less caloric/healthier/whatever. If everything on the menu is over 1,000 calories and everyone can see it, then people are going to start whining about how there's nothing on their menu's that supports a low-calorie diet, or how everything is deep fried, or this or that. You…
  • The problem with that is that there is literally nothing that's below 1,000 calories on most chain restaurant menus. Unless it's otherwise stated or obvious (small dinner salad, ect.) Places like Applebee's? Chili's? Good luck. And overhauling their menu's all at once would be really costly and inefficient. Edited for typo…
  • This works :D I got mad at someone the other day that gave me h*&l about eating a freaking potato chip in front of him because "WTH that's not healthy food!" I told him the #1 way to tick a woman off was to make a comment about what she was eating. It's also really disrespectful, rude, and arrogant. At least it was coming…
  • I get razzed for ordering healthier options sometimes, too. I just shrug and tell them the truth: heavily processed foods upset my stomach- and that I don't like the way soda tastes (also true), or spinach/artichoke dip, or cheese curds. That usually shuts them up. I don't know if that would work for you or not, though. ;/
  • Cardio is called cardio because it exercises the cardiovascular system. Cardio is helpful in losing fat (hence the 'fat burning' setting on a lot of machines) but it's not necessary for fat loss. Muscle at rest burns more calories than cardio. As a rock climber that knows many rock climbers? We all eat really, really…
  • I think it's probably in the same realm of thought as if that healthy, proportioned girl wanted to lose ten vanity pounds. I get that's kind of apples and oranges but the point I'm trying to make is that its personal. I think? He** I dunno. I'm the girl that's trying to get rid of the vanity pounds though. Lol.
  • Weighing 500 pounds, or eating enough to gain up to that, could be considered slow suicide, depending on the impact it has on the persons health.
  • Your abs are a body part. Your arms are a body part. Your legs are a body part. Ect.
  • I grew up knowing (and still know) a natural medicines expert that swears up and down he's never met a healthy veg*n. Hes been counseling my dad on his diet since my dad completed all of his cancer treatments and my dad made a joke about just converting to veg*nism after reading the dietary restrictions he was supposed to…
  • As a recovering former ed-nos with orthorexic tendencies, that horrifies me. Guess some things don't change!
  • Edited: read further into the responses and noticed your dietary restrictions. I'm not familiar with a lot of what you've listed. P.S., "if just eating 800-1100 calories qualifies" ... yes, it qualifies. 1,500 would qualify, 200 would qualify, 0 qualifies. There are several factors that contribute to and fit the criteria…
  • He sounds a little insecure. I don't mean it in a bad way! :) Somewhere down inside him he may harbor a little insecurity about his own appearance, and it made be translating into concern for you, which may in fact be heartfelt at the source. Assure him that you're eating healthy, getting the recommended amount of…
  • That's beautiful. Love is a wonderful thing. :flowerforyou:
  • That! And talk to your doctor about your concerns with your depression/anxiety. :) They'll be relieved you said something and really optimistic and positive for you about getting a handle on it!
  • You referenced Chemical Depression right there. "Situational Depression" (which is also known as an Adjustment Disorder) usually doesn't require medication, unless the symptoms don't alleviate once the situation is resolved. They might recommend counseling to navigate your way through your feelings, but until the…
  • I've never been able to prepare for the passing of a loved one, so I'm not sure if this will help or not, but my best friend was in the same situation with her Grandmother. She took the time left with her to come to terms with what was happening and when her Grandmother finally did pass away my best friend found that while…
  • While I echo that sentiment on a really, really personal level (I'd be married with children if I hadn't lost a certain someone) I feel that was a bit blunt for someone that is clearly in one of the stages of grief right now.
  • I'm very sorry to hear about your Grandfather. That's really hard for anyone to deal with regardless of the circumstance. You aren't alone in your depression and anxiety, I suffer from them too. :) Cancer and Diabetes run in my family on my dads side, my Moms dad had diabetes but he was the wild card that got it as a fluke…
  • Those chips are straight up banned in my house. Someone will always buy a bag and sneak it past me though. :grumble:
