  • Yep. Today is a new day! Just get back on track, eat right, drink lots of water. And savor the memory of that great dessert. No point in beating your self up. It's done! Now, pay attention to today
  • good luck! drop a line now and then when you're comfortable. Christy
  • I just made it to 25 lbs lost and in doing that crossed the 180lb threshold. It is great to be under 180lbs. I still have a ways to go but focus on 5 lbs at a time... So, next goal, under 175. Christy
  • Ditto!! Have a great one everyone. Good luck with moderation
  • Some folks find that if you've plateaued, if you have a splurge day that it kind of kicks you body back into gear again.
  • I have been doing weight, then I added body fat % and muscle mass. I'm afraid I haven't had the guts to add inches and the last time I was losing weight, after I measured, that's when I stopped and started gaining again...So, I know it is mental but I don't really want to measure again  However, my jeans were…
  • Hey, try a work out! It helps get rid of the stress AND it takes your mind away from the urge to snack. When that doesn't work, or I just can't convince myself to work out, then I like microwave popcorn. The light stuff is good and low calorie. I also like to snack on edamame. Not quite as low calorie but you can have a…
  • Hi! Welcome. I'd like the same screen name LOL...I'm hoping for the same  Best of luck on your journey! You've already come a ways!
  • Hi Bunny - I have only tried weight watchers before and it didn't work at all. I like this site. Each day is a day...you either made it with the net calories or you didn't. If you did, GREAT...if you didn't, well tomorrow is another day. I have lost 20 lbs here...so this is working for me. Christy
  • Yeah, Cheryl!!!! WAY TO GO!! 20 lbs is a great accomplishment and being 1/2 way to your goal is too cool! I feel so motivated:happy: Here's one to you :drinker:
  • Welcome to the site and GREAT LUCK to you! I have 4 kids. Unlike you, I waited way too long to try to lose the baby fat (my youngest is now 5). But, better late then never. Welcome!
  • Welcome! Where in WA? Good luck on your journey!
  • Yeah, Joanna!!! WAY TO GO!!!
  • I love this idea, too! I've lost 22 lbs so far. I probably would like to lose another 30 but that seems to much to think about so I'm just focused on the next 10. I'm going to Jamaica in a month and plan on getting one of those massage's! I'm also splurging on some new clothes! Can't wait!!!
  • I'd love to go. I live in Kent area. We happily go up to Woodinville for that wine tasting! Oh, my husband would come...and we're good with going to Red Hook, too. Been there a couple of times. Christy
  • My original goal date is December 6th when my hubby and I are heading to Jamaica! However, I now know that I won't stop there! But I'm good for an excursion or two. And Woodinville is a great place to wonder around!
  • Thanks, Mike! You are the BEST! I love this site and the improvements you keep making can't be beat!!
  • AWWWWSSOOMMMEEEE! Great job! :flowerforyou:
  • Hi I know just what you're talking about. I just keep remembering 'this is my life' :flowerforyou: If I don't do it, no one else will  So I'm doing it for me and I'm worth it! Besides, I really love it when I did look good...I wanna be there again. Yeah, and when I need motivation, I just take a look at Loretta's…
  • Hey guys, I can I join ya? I live in the WA area, too. We love going to the winery. Have been to the brewery once!
  • I guess mine is wanting to nibble on leftovers after dinner is done.. you know...the food the kids didn't finish :embarassed: I don't always win the battle, but it's best if I clear everything right away, throw out the leftovers and pack up the meal. Once it's bagged, boxed or in the fridge, I can resist. Sitting out, it's…
  • Welcome and good luck! So far, I've had success with the calorie counting (what goes in is less then what goes out) and sure enough, the weight is coming off. I tried WW once and was dreadfully hungry all of the time and couldn't stick with it. It lasted about 6 weeks before I gave up. I've been doing this for about 8…
  • I think it's been awhile since I updated. I just completed by 7th week. I started at 204, am now at 187.8. So, that's 16lbs in 7 weeks! Nothing like good old fashioned calorie counting...
  • You do want to make sure you eat enough. You should net a minimum amount of calories per day (for women, at least 1200). If you're eating less, you're starving yourself and if you lose weight, you're more likely losing the muscle you have. This contributes to the yo-yo problem since it's quicker to add fat back on then…
  • Hi CM - that's the percentage breakdown I use. I don't feel hungry and not having trouble with the balance.
  • Thought I'd share this article as food for thought. It looks at using body fat percentage as a gauge for success as opposed to weight. http://www.alive.com/1383a4a2.php?text_page=1
  • Hi everyone - I am curious what folks think about circuit training. I found this article which suggests it is the most efficient way to build muscle and cardio-respiratory efficiency. http://www.i-a-r-t.com/articles/Exercise%20Articles/Aerobic%20Myth.pdf What do you guys think?
  • Hi cm - have you found tricks to counter the cravings? Low cal snacks, exercise, reading, movie watching? I know the thing that works better for me then anything else is deciding if that cookie, candy, etc. is worth the xx minutes of exercise I'd have to do to burn it. Sometimes that answer is yes...and then I go for it.…
  • I just read an interesting article that talked about a study that showed that visceral fat (the internal fat found around your organs) is reduced through diet. Visceral fat is a strong contributor to things like adult-onset diabetes. It also said that the subcutaneous fat (the fat right under the skin) is reduced the most…
