Doesn't sound like diabetes. If I were to eat toast with peanut butter on and not injecting, in an hours time I would be hounding for water, pissing a bunch and getting very drowsy. You wouldn't go hypoglycaemic after a meal like that because that type of meal doesn't cause a spike. I don't know what it's like to be…

What is this creamed corn everyone is talking about? Is this particular to the states? I've only recently tried refried beans, is this in the same category?

You logged it though, a lot of people wouldn't. You can count that as a success and see this as a blip. Have a think about how it could be managed slightly more next time since you don't want to associate having people stay with poor diet control.

I permanently keep my scales on the counter. If I want a glob of peanut butter I'll undo the lid and stick the jar on the scale, zero it and dig a glob out with my finger no shame. The difference on the scale is the weight of my glob. Weigh all your globs because a teaspoon sure can pile peanut butter a lot higher than 5g.…

I'm not going to address what you've said in your post, but just make sure you specify what TYPE of diabetes you mean. I didn't eat myself this way, I was born with a predisposition which was triggered by a viral infection. Sugar played no role whatsoever.

I'd be happy with that weight loss.
-
I'd be happy to lose a pound a week.

I just want to point out this is no where near a diabetic symptom. If you were an undiagnosed diabetic and had eaten that muffin, you would be very drowsy and needing to sleep after a half hour and would be pissing like a horse.

Have you ever thought that you might have anxiety? You seem to be worrying a lot about your diet, sleep and overall health so maybe this is purely a psychological thing. I say this because I had really bad insomnia when I had anxiety. When I mentioned sleep hygiene I didn't just mean turning the lights off. It means…

I assume you're practicing good sleep hygiene?

Looking over the weeks MFP tells me I net about 1100 to 1500, although since it over estimates calorie burns its probably more like 1300 to 1700. Or more, allowing for package meals having different calories and also I never weigh the tea in my milk/log it. I'm targetted to lose 0.5lbs a week giving me 1750 allowance. 5'7,…

I honestly find that MFP has helped me with my control. Since I weigh all my food I know how many carbs I'm eating and so can correctly adjust my dose. It can be frustrating when you've eaten your allotted calories for the day and then you have a hypo, so that's an extra 200 calories that'll come in (I tend to fwd them to…

This is how I don't understand how diabetics (specially type 1s) go keto. I've heard its meant to be amazing but when there's so many factors that affect blood sugars (stress/weather/medication/the type of excerise since one pushes sugars up one pushes them down/the food type) just to name a few, I'd like to not feel bad…

How are we this far into this without the OP even opening her diary...? No secrets here please, how else are we meant to help?

Type1 diabetic. I wasn't looking after myself well enough, multiple factors like stress, antibiotics and not carb counting resulted in DKA, comatosing and 3IVs in my neck. Kickstarted me to address my health. This was back in Jan 2014 and I lost 35lbs odd over a year and a half. I fell off the bandwagon last November - had…

This is why I have a huge disdain for bartenders, despite working the job once or twice myself. I'm a Type 1 diabetic and they STILL pour out full sugar coke. I've just ended up never trusting them. I've watched a bartender pour out a full sugar coke, she placed it on the bar and then I looked her straight in the eye and…

When I lived alone I just wouldn't buy the foods I couldn't control myself around, or leave enough calories for a full packet or tub. Living with my partner has been difficult, I could take a picture of his desk last night where he had mint sweets, Starburst and Hobnobs. I think I am getting better though, I keep some low…

As soon as you have that Sunday lie you in realise what you were missing !

Really interesting responses, thanks for commenting back. Self motivation seems to be very strong in all of you. Do any early risers do shift work? I currently do shift work which means I can vary starting between 8am to 12pm, finishing between 4pm to 8pm. I leave 45minutes to travel to work. I am an unmotivated person and…

Everyone is getting up so early! Do the majority of you have children or just early birds naturally? I've started waking at half 7 naturally now its summer and I was impressed with myself. Maybe it's to do with age too?

Wow, someone said if we said your name 3 times in a row you would appear. I shouldnt have doubted them!

I don't log the milk in my tea, that will always be free since I can't function without it!

Weigh your raw food with an electronic scale. Anything you're about to put into your mouth, weigh it first and log it. Also I'm on my phone so I don't know how to post the picture, so here's a link: https://us.v-cdn.net/5021879/uploads/editor/cu/nnnaq5rggu08.jpg Hope this helps.

MDI, its hard to get a pump on the NHS in the UK. They go to really badly managed diabetics (I've been hospitalised for DKA and had a night seizure but that doesn't count apparently) or they go to children which is fair. I'll try the 33% method and just keep a close monitor on it to see if I need to up it from that or…

Hypo treatment bank is important, and try to be mindful when having a hypo as well. A symptom I get during my hypos is the munchies, I will want to just keep eating until I feel normal and this can blow my calories. I have dedicated hypo food, 2 chocolate rice cakes as an example, and just accept I'm going to feel like…

This thread just screams honeylisabee 2.0. I wonder what ever happened to her.

When I've had to carry groceries home and its really knackering, they've been so heavy on my arms etc etc I love to weigh myself when I get in whilst still holding th e bags and then I realise I've lost more than what I was carrying then - that's when it sinks in for me.

No. Hey, I've been type 1 for 6 years diagnosed at 17. I started my weight loss journey after I went into DKA at the beginning of 2013 and that was a bit of a wake up call to look after myself better as I comatosed in a bathtub. I'm 5'6.5", started my weight loss journey at 197lbs. Got down to 164lbs and stayed there from…

I think I have 4 friends on here, two are my family members (mum and sister) but only my sister regularly uses it but it's nice to see her losing weight and running since I finally got her to use the app last year! The other two are both Type 1 diabetics like myself, one is inactive but I regularly comment on the other's…

Wow, some serious motivation here! I'm type 1 too and struggle introducing exercise since my blood sugars go crazy even after 30 minutes walking. Did you have to do a lot of adjusting at the beginning and how long did it take for you to be able to control your bloods around exercise?
