Ticker not updating. :( up to 37 miles. Not on track for 150.... but maybe I can make up some ground. Also have spartan race next month so don't want to get injured.

I might consider upping your protein after looking at your diary. MFP has it set really low. You will be less hungry throughout the day and it will help build muscle during exercise. Also, as you get further along in your journey your metabolism will start to ramp up. Especially with more exercise. So it may take some time…

Sure. Here is mine. Monday Through Friday 5:45 = Wake up 6:30 = 2-5 mile run 7:15 = Strength training Mon: Chest and Triceps Tues: Back and Biceps Wed: No cardio, Legs and Shoulders Thur: Back to the cardio and Abs (3:30 Army Physical Training) Friday: Full Body strength training 8:45 = Breakfast (Usually protein shake)…

Agreed.

Not accurate. You can gain muscle on a caloric deficit. As long as you are getting the right amount of protein and the other ratios are correct then you will gain muscle. Burning up glycogen stores and fat to create energy while exercising will build muscle. Your car doesn't run any different on a half tank of gas than a…

Protein. If you are running a lot and working out you should get a lot of protein, otherwise you will feel hungry. 1g per pound of body weight. Good luck.

Gloves will stop the pinching. So will straps/wraps to a certain extent. Gloves generally have a lot of padding but they also can interfere with your grip by not making it as tight.

Ditto. :)

First I shall qualify myself. I lift weights for 2 hours a day 5-6 days a week. I have been for quite some time. Now to answer the question. I have used gloves before and I found the golds gym brand worked fine for me. I used them for the same reason, as wrist support was needed at the time. Currently I do not use gloves…

Different people lose weight at different rates. Generally speaking you won't gain enough muscle in a 2 week period to see a huge difference. When I started working out I saw no movement in the scale for a month. Then it started dropping fast. It takes years to gain weight..... so it is only natural for it to take a little…

Sweat suits or trash bags can be used to "cut weight". This is not a safe practice for 99% of people out there that exercise. It is used by boxers to cut weight in a very short amount of time. They will put the weight back on in a very short amount of time It is just water weight. As for the sweat bands.... sounds like a…

I know the answer. Are you changing outfits between jumping jacks? Or changing your location between exercises? It is important that you are in different places and wearing different clothes for each exercise...... otherwise it isn't a montage and weight loss cannot occur and world ending paradoxes will ensue.

I had to definetly increase my protein take. MFP gives you 15% per day.... I doubled that and currently on track. Good luck.
-
Great story. Very inspirational. Keep up the great work.

Barring anything medical..... sounds likes classic overheating / low electrolytes. I would just cut out the sauna and see what happens.

I would start off slow. If you want to do 3-4 days a week then you can really isolate some muscle groups. For example. Monday: Chest / Triceps Tuesday: Biceps / Back Wednesday: Legs / Shoulders Thursday: Rest Friday: Full body (light weights, high reps) / Abs Each day could have 45-60 mins of weight lifting and maybe 20-30…

I do 6-7 days a week of weight training and cardio every day. At least 2 hours a day. This is something I have had to work up to as I am in the Army and need to maintain a certain level of fitness. I would suggest starting with a 3-4 day/week rotation with some light cardio built in as well. Make sure to isolate the…

If he hasn't worked out at all he might want to start with P90.... or Power 90 as it is called. Or some other similar program. P90X is pretty intense..... maybe not quite as intense as Insanity.... but I think they are both dificult if you haven't worked out in a while or haven't done some sort of boot camp style work.…

Protein is good for you. Especially if you are exercising. Think of it as a building block for muscle and strength. MFP underestimates protein by a lot. I upped mine to 30% instead of the standard 15%. Don't sweat going over.

Wow. Everyone looks amazing. What a transformation. Here is my addition. Keep up the great work everyone. You are all such an inspiration.

I am game. Worth a shot anyways.
-
Great advice. Actually, if you have a great exercise routine then you will need the protein to supply your body. Good luck.
-
You look great. Keep it up. Here is my addition. I find it so helpful to post before and after pics too.

This is a great idea. I LOVE olive oil and sometimes I use a larger amount. However, spritzing brings the calories down to almost nill if used properly and you can still get some flavor.

Sorry to say but you can't "spot lose" weight. And on the contrary I would work out your legs. More muscle means more fat loss. Muscle is also more dense and therefore smaller than fat. And if you have more muscle you will burn more fat at rest and since your legs are the biggest muscles in your body, then the more…
-
If you are losing .5 to 1 lbs per week then that's great. That's a healthy amount of weight to be losing. Also, to answer your question. Muscle is more dense so smaller amounts of muscle weigh more than the same volume of fat. For example. If you filled a container with feathers.... then filled the same container with lead…

WHAT????? Seriously. So for every girlfriend, fiance, or wife that has had a boyfriend, fiance, or husband go to a strip club.... you say that all the women should leave them..... What a lonely world you live in. Unrealistic at best. Sorry, but it's true. And yes I am a man... getting married in July to the woman of my…

MFP is setting a calorie goal that is already in a deficit for you so that you can lose weight. However, if you have too few calories you will enter starvation mode and slow your metabolism. For example, if MFP says 1500 calories per day is what you need to lose weight then you exercise and burn 500 calories it looks like…

Selfish Bump. LOL

Honestly, I have been over this with a lot of people. Whatever you think works for you is best. Try both ways and see how you feel. I am training for the Army and the Sgts I work out with run first and then we lift weights. This has produced ENORMOUS results for me personally. Good luck.
