You cannot target fat loss. Not sure if that is part of what you are asking. And when you lift heavy you burn more calories for a 24 or 36 hour period after the workout as opposed to just cardio. Protein powder is as much personal preference as it is anything else. I have used many over the years, but the 2 I always go back to are Combat Powder and Syntha 6. Both for different reasons. They are also consistently on the top of the review boards for weight lifters.

This is true. And I am more in the game for strength and health, but I like the cut because I want to look good too.

Usually when you do cardio you burn calories solely for the time you are doing that cardio and your heart rate is up. Then after you are done, the burn subsides. With weight training you will continue to burn calories up to 24 hours after your workout. So it is very difficult to set a standard calorie burn weight training.

I have access to a simple cable machine. lots of dumbbells, benches, incline and decline, leg press machine, all legs actually except for calves, squat rack, smith machine and pull up rack.

A lot of the exercises in this routine I do on a regular basis. Actually, you will find a lot of them in boot camp routines (including actual bootcamp) and in crossfit routines. This routine focuses on the areas that, when given the biggest gains, will help shape your entire body and lose weight. But, to each their own.
