  • Oh and my goal is to go twice a week (weds/fri) but really I’m attempting to go three times (mon/weds/fri)
  • Does anyone know how long it will be til the water retention might go? Fat burning is just what my Fitbit labels it, when my pulse goes beyond a certain point. So I’m doing (not sure of all of the proper names): Barbel Squat (empty bar for now to get my form right, so only 20kg) Barbell Bench press Row Lateral pull down…
  • Hello - thanks all for your replies so far! You're giving me some hope that its just water. I am mid way through my cycle and I tend to hold water weight towards my period bleed, so its around a week too early for it to be menstrually related bloat. I think this is whats set me off wondering if i'm doing something wrong,…
  • It looks like its your steps - you're not getting as many as you used to since winter, and that is when the weight started creeping up. Can you get additional steps in, in different ways? 10 mins of dancing here and there, 15 min burst of cleaning, gardening on the weekends? Break it into little lumps. Other than that,…
  • Shattered Lady, YOU CAN DO THIS! You're just having a bump along the way. You're understandably tired. But you've lost an immense amount of weight, 30lbs regain in the grand scheme of things is only a little hurdle. Give yourself a little reset. Figure out your maintenance calories, and have a week of just maintenance.…
  • I literally saw your photos and shouted into my kitchen "She did do it!!!". Well done, you look amazing. I hope me and my PCOS can emulate your success. Any tips?
  • I love this thread, keep it going! You guys are inspiring me to carry on weighing that food and hitting my steps.
  • Greek yoghurt fills me up. Add apple, blueberries, raspberries - whatever fruit you have around.
  • I started weighing everything in grams too recently - even packed stuff, like slices of bread. What an eye opener it has been! Somethings I was completely over estimating the weight of and calories of, so if anything my portion sizes have gone up now! Whey heyyyyy.
  • I watched a TV Program where they did an experiment on good praise vs negative feedback. They asked 2 groups of people to spin a plate on a stick, and then a panel of 3 people appraised the performance. Group 1 - whether they were good or bad, they received good praise. Group 2 - whether they were good or bad, the received…
  • I get overwhelmed too. Treat this like a factual work exercise and break the problem down into chunks. So log your food honestly for a week or two - weigh everything by the gram where you can. Then look back at the data objectively - and figure out where you're eating the most calories and if you can make any easy changes…
  • I am a single mum too :) Maybe make a list of the foods he likes the most, then find a comparable healthy recipe and make it together? Its often a lot cheaper to cook from scratch and in bulk and freeze it than it is to buy ready made foods. I often cook with my daughter and we have a long Saturday morning walk together as…
  • I have started with resistance bands at home, and a step count. However its important to remember that food is 80% of weight loss. Exercise is beneficial for health, and for building muscle, but we won't see that muscle without our body fat being less. So don't beat yourself up if you cant get to a gym, keep on it with the…
  • The thought of going back to Work post Covid, looking smaller!
  • Hey - thanks for your reply. I used these web links - https://tdeecalculator.net https://www.iifym.com/
  • I read a book recently published by a UK doctor in which he had looked at all kind of real and proper controlled scientific studies, and that book recommended 800 cals for weight loss to reverse diabetes and lose fat quickly - but ONLY on a temporary basis and along side being monitored by a doctor. Like a quick shed of…
  • This is daft. Joined a gym today, wanted to try heavy weights. I’ve not been for years. I was actually very stressed about the whole thing, dreading it. I managed to deadlift 8 sets of 70kg!! Feel elated hahaha.
  • Heyyyy - I’m resurrecting this topic. I’ve recently done a DNA test and my genetics suggest that I have mainly slow twitch muscle and a slow metabolism. So what’s the best way for myself to train? I’m looking for fat loss really so build a bit of muscle to help that. Am I meant to try build fast twitch or just use what I…
  • Mmmm this looks very interesting as I was hoping to get into lifting. Does this book include all the other exercises I’d need to trim stomach/arms/back etc or is it purely butt focused?
  • I know loads about nutrition and exercise. I can estimate food and exercise calories accurately without looking. I’m a good cook, I enjoy healthy foods. I have stamina and drive for exercise. But nothing has helped as much as addressing my mind. All this time I kept sabotaging myself and not even seeing what I was doing.…
  • Sound advice this! Sometimes I stall for weeks. After a couple of maintenance days, some bathes and relaxing walks in the woods and a having a "word" with my subconscious to tell it that it's safe to lose weigh, my body relaxes and I literally lose 3lbs the next week. It's annoying, but relieving. Also randomly, someone…
  • I reckon some breathing space would do you all good. Keep yourself busy the next few weeks - gym, work, friends - then distance yourself once you're in your new place. Work on building your confidence back up, being independant and happy alone. Every one wants validation and love from parents, but parents are just people.…
  • Sandra Bullock. Multiple times, by unrelated people. I'm not seeing it myself!
  • Thanks everyone! Tried Adriennes beginner yoga this morning, she's really good isn't she. Wasn't difficult to follow at all. Didn't realise how scrunched up I must be on a daily basis, my shoulders feel like they've been hunched for years. That said, didn't get the full de-stressing benefit as my small daughter took one…
  • Thanks everyone! I'll be trying both out in the morning. App is a great idea I'd not thought of, yoga on the go.
  • I got some raw pumpkin seed and chia seed protein powder. Those are the only two ingredients. That's pretty awesome, easy to mix with milk on cereal or sprinkle in stuff. Gives a light nutty flavour and is full of omega 3. Very filling too!
  • Prawns/shrimp! Shove a tonne of them on a low cal cracker. Does the trick. Make an omelette with just the egg and a tiny bit of milk, then use it like a wrap and fill it with chopped up veg. Full fat Greek yoghurt with loads of berries or fruit. Very filling. And water, massive glass of water.
  • Also, during the cookie trauma I found a really good way to shush the food pushers. "Do you want this cookie...? Goooo onnnnn" "Yes. I do want the cookie. But I want to be skinny more". Colleagues nod in agreement and wander off. Worked 3 times!! Whey hey.
  • Didn't eat the work cookies. They were chewy. They were chunky. They kept looking at me, singing my name. I thought about having one and burning it off on the treadmill. I thought about having a broken off corner of one. I thought about having one and cutting my dinner back. My mind was being creative. But alas my friends,…
