I'm currently doing the RP diet and on my non training days I'm supposed to have aprox 200 grams of protein (I'm just over 200 lbs), the hard part is finding a way to get it all in w/o living off shakes or eating a lb and a half of chicken!

I prefer running at night, less people on the sidewalks and less cars on the roads. Its just so peaceful running in the dark and the silence... But yeah like everyone else said, it depends on how sketchy your area is. There was a murder less than a mile from my house two weeks ago and I'd still run alone at night.

If you have the time/money Crossfit is awesome. It combines HIIT with Olympic lifting so you get the benefits of calorie busting cardio plus building muscle. Also, since the classes are typically small you get a lot of individual coaching so you know you're doing the moves correctly and safely.

The whole30, which is a super strict paleo style diet, finally decided to allow all potato's. The reason for avoiding them is because it then gives people the green light to eat French fries, potato chips, etc etc. The whole30 is not the same as Paleo but they follow the same eating guidelines. Both 'diets' were created by…

I save bacon grease and cook with it, awesome flavor! om nom nom

Looking great! Keep going!

I like mine slightly under cooked so the strands almost have a slight crunch to them vs over cooked where they become mush. I found microwave cooking actually yeilds better results than the oven and its a lot quicker. Make sure to check the squash periodically to avoid over cooking. As far as being watery you could try…

I live in Washington and my high school mascot was the redskins until a couple months ago. Even though the alumni and existing students were against changing the name and there had been NO complaints by the tribes in the area the school board pushed it through and my school is now the Redhawks. Its like a slap in the face…

My fav time to run is the winter, in the dark, the solitude and quite is amazing, oh and checking out christmas lights and being able to spy through peoples windows are a defninte bonus :)

At my gym if you can't do a real pushup we do cobra pushups, where you start on the ground and pushup your upper body so you're in a cobra position (arms straight under the shoulders but hips still on the ground) from here you just pop your hips up to a plank, slowly lower your body back down to the floor and repeat.…

I do crossfit and go to a gym but a LOT of the workouts we do you could do at home on your own with little to no equipment. I've seen various crossfit gyms offer free community WODs (workout of the day), maybe check out your local area affiliates and see if any offer a free weekly or monthly WOD, it might give you ideas on…

Shin splints can be caused by how you land your feet while running. Focus on landing on your mid or fore foot NOT on your heel. I use to get shin splints but after changing to more minimalist shoes (no big puffy padded soles or heels) and focusing on shorter steps where I land mid foot I quit getting them. Now I only get…

People don't chose to smell bad and odds are she already realizes she smells. Mentioning it to her would do nothing but make her self conscious/feel bad. I've been in that position before, when you go the gym smelling fine but after the sweat starts up you notice oh crap this top isn't as clean as I thought! Nothing you…

Yeah, the sagginess is a concern, I'm hoping it will firm up when the fat layer goes away. I have stretch marks from above my belly button and from hip to hip. Any they're wide, like almost an inch in width on some, not those little spider web stretch marks some people get.

Awesome! I love her already. http://www.mariakang.com/

A friend of mine on MFP shared her recipe, its mango butter, jojoba oil, and emu oil. I melted them all togehter on low heat in a double boiler then poured it all into a jar. I've been using it on my INSANE stretch marks for a few months now and they are less noticeable but like everyone has already said they will NEVER go…

I'm eating tuna right now. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pouches you can get now. Only 70 calories and a bunch of protein. I add them to pretty much anything I have for lunch, today its a salad. I eat about 3-4 pouches a week sometimes.

I agree Strong Lift 5x5. i didn't bother downloading their book or whatever, I just got the free app for tracking my workouts and then googled how to do the moves correctly. It's SUPER basic. If you want to get move into it, you could try following the New Rules of Lifting book. I bought the womens book and it was pretty…

I've gone to races alone but met up with friends and I've also carpooled but then ran alone. Something you could try is finding someone on MFP who is doing the same race and see if they'd like to carpool or meet up at the race. The last half I did I ended up carpooling with an MFP freind and her running group. It was…

BEST recipe ever. my family eats cauliflower fried rice at least once a week and we fight over left overs. We make it with peppered bacon, a couple eggs, and green onion. http://www.steamykitchen.com/31325-paleo-cauliflower-bacon-fried-rice-video-recipe.html

I haven't had that problem but I've had people 'follow' me and when I look at their profiles its obvious they're just on there to promote some product and get as many followers of their own as possible so I immediatly block them. In your situation I'd put a line on your profile saying your not interested in people…

Agreed. It sucks when a size 12 is seen as huge to most people but when you're 6ft tall you can be the perfect weight and wear a size 12. You gotta admit though its kinda cool when your short friends guess you're weight and its WAY lower than reality becasue they don't understand how much weight an extra 12 inches adds.…

RockMyRun is an amazing music service for exercise! There is a website as well as a free app and all mixes under either 30 or 40 minutes are free! So if you typically run for 30 mins at a time then you're golden. I actually broke down and paid for a subscription so I could get 2 hour mixes for running half marathons. When…

If NOTHING has helped then I'm thinking you aren't actually giving yourself enough time to heal before running again. If the shin splints are severe enough it may be stress fractures and those can take MONTHS to heal. I'd double your recovery time, even when you think you're better give it another couple of weeks and then…

Gross. The study DIDN'T have the mice eat people poop (or any poop) they 'transfered gut bacteria'. The mice on their own eat each others poop but thats not how the study was administered. If I was unable to lose weight through normal exercise and healthy eating I'd definitly try a bacteria transfer :)

I had a herniated disc in 2008, and spent a month on pain killers and laying face down on my living room floor. THAT was my inspiration to get in shape! I remember wishing I could do something as simple as a jumping jack or just to be able to touch my toes again! Oh I also have had long term issues with Sciatica. I did…

I don't brush my hair and no one can tell. I bought a hairbrush once but don't know where it is. When I highlight my hair using the cap method I borrow my daughters brush to make sure every little tangle is out first but other than that I never ever brush it. I also like to smell different peoples body odor, its…

On the same note, don't buy shoes thinking they'll feel better after you break them in, get shoes that feel amazing from the start also make sure you have at least a thumbs width of space between your big toe and the end of the shoe (you may need to buy half a size bigger than normal). You don't need fancy running shoes,…

I run with a friend EVERY weekend. When working up to our half marathons we just added an extra mile each weekend if the previous weekend went well. Having a friend helps a LOT to motivate me to not procrastinate the runs and it makes the long runs (2+ hrs) a lot more enjoyable.
