Won't give up my tea or coffee. A little Splenda, no creamer and I'm good.

That's unfortunate. They're definitely the best fast food restaurant around here, and pretty much every big chain is well represented.

The ranges don't vary significantly between the charts for a 5'9" male (144-176 vs 139-175). I hope to maintain between 145 and 150, so I'm in the lowest end of one, and lower end of the other.

Naked Grilled Veggie Burrito is on my regular menu. I'll eat there 3-4 times a week at times. Hasn't hindered my progress in the least.
-
Got it. Did 56 miles today, which brought me to 704 for the month. That's my first 700+ mile month.
-
Post storm easy ride: 25 miles. 648 for the month. Monday and Tuesday are typically off days, but I may ride at least one of them to hit 700 for the month.

41 miles this morning, bringing me to 623 for the month. Goal reached. It's already starting to get breezy here in SE VA. Tomorrow will probably be a wash due to the storm, and there will probably be plenty of debris out on Sunday, so that may be a no go. If I rearrange my rest days next week (Monday and Tuesday) I can…

Only need 18 to hit my 600. I'll certainly get it, but Irene may cheat me out of hitting 700 for the month... If I had the weekend free and clear, I would hit it no problem.
-
Week 3: 169 miles. I was bad and skipped riding Friday... Otherwise it would have been 200ish. Month: 507 miles. Total for the month may be closer to 700 miles than the original goal of 600.

Update. 20 more miles tonight. 173 for the week. 338 for the month.
-
153 miles this week (barring good weather this afternoon, where there will be another 20-25 if there is) 318 for the month.
-
Neither. I ride until the course I set out to ride is finished. The rest takes care of itself.

I would imagine that was in reference to running indoors, on a treadmill.
-
Yes, but it could require a trip to your local bike shop for a good fitting and/or a new saddle. Saddle are one of those very, very personal and specific things on a bike that no one can tell you "here, this will work for you." Everyone's sit bones are different, thus what works for one may not work for another. I've known…

No, not really. Just setting a goal just like everyone else. And 600 is nothing compared to dude doing 1000. I live literally .33 miles from my office. Bike commuting adds nothing for me... August week 1 total: 165 miles.
-
I'm in. 600+ miles this month.
-
Sure, I'm in, but I'll be going with a higher goal. August goal is 600 miles. Should be plenty doable, if the heat eases up. Did 471 in July, and it was a slack month. I should top 150 miles this week alone.

I read the "chaingate" episode differently. The way I saw it, he was already on his way. If an attack is underway, and stuff happens behind you, well, that's racing. But I don't expect to change anyone's mind, especially a year on from the events. Everyone sees it the way they see it at this point. And AC definitely gifted…

If more than half of the guys out there are clean, I'll eat my cassette. And my belief is that the reason AC gets the crap he gets in the US is due to: A. The way the cycling press/media presented the whole LA vs AC thing. B. AC is a horrible interview in English. If he were more fluent, and didn't sound like he was…

That may be so, but bmi-calculator.net also has a body fat calculator on it as well.

Not going to happen. After the way he looked @ the Giro, he's on a whole different level. He made it look like the rest of the GC contenders weren't even trying.
-
I shoot for cycling 150-200 miles per week. 25-30 miles Wednesday-Friday, and 50+ Saturday and Sunday. Throw in a 100 mile ride once a month.
-
Maybe they enjoy it? Crazy thought, I know.

Weigh yourself before and after a workout. After a hard ride on the bike, it's not uncommon to for me to be 1-2 lbs under my starting weight, due to fluid loss. This is after drinking 8-16oz of water per hour. So it's certainly possible to lose sizable amounts of electrolytes while exercising, depending on the exertion…

If you're on a geared bike, try a lower gear and spinning a little bit faster. The human body operates best in a fairly narrow power band, and you may be a little outside it. General rule of thumb: If your legs hurt, switch to a lower gear. If your lungs hurt, switch to a higher gear. Also, it's only been 2 weeks. Your…

If it sits in the middle of the wheel and covers the back side of the spoke nipples, it's unlikely. What kind of valves are on the tubes? Schrader or Presta? If they're Presta valves, are you using the little threaded nut that screws down over the valve stem, sort of holding the valve in place? If so, I find they cause…

If you're doing local sprint tri's, I'd be shocked if you can't use any bike you want. You won't be terribly competitive in the bike section on a mtn bike, but if you're doing the tri for you, I don't think that really matters.
-
Have you tried replacing the rim strip on that wheel?

I'm a guy, as far as I can tell, and have a desk job, so during the day I'm sedentary. Outside of work I cycle 5-6 days a week, with 25-30 mile rides during the weekday rides, 60+ on Saturdays and 40+ on Sundays. Mix in a 100+ mile ride one Saturday a month. I started @ 210 lbs, and I'm down to under 190 so far, with a…
