  • Just personal preference but I love morning workouts! I used to get up every morning before school and go. You might be amazed at what your body can do in the morning. I know for me once I full woke up and started my workout I felt awesome the rest of the day!!! Again whatever works for you is what is best. Good luck!!! :)
  • I second the swimming idea. Especially with Summer right around the corner find a pool that you can get into. You would be amazed at the workout you can get in the pool. I had a lower back injury and the pool was awesome for months!
  • I had the exact same issue! Here is what I was told and it helped me tremendously: Work your way down. Learning to eat healthy is a process. Don't starve yourself! If you are hungry constantly you won't stick with it. So if you started around (let's just say) 3000 calories. For the first week try cutting down to just 2000,…
  • So much respect and admiration go to you for joining the navy! Just noticed especially with all your workouts and staying busy with your kids, I'm sure... You need to be eating more than 1200 calories. I know it sounds backwards to be eating more to lose weight. But it is very true. If you aren't giving your body enough…
  • Keep going! You can do it! I think we all understand how life can get in the way of eating healthy. But you can do it! I wish i had an inspiring story to share but I don't. It just the daily fight to make the right choices. Everyday is a new day and even in the midst of chaos you can make the choice to grab fruit instead…
  • Oh wow too funny! Thanks for posting! I too enjoy people watching at the gym. There is always the lady that is there and is power walking on a mission! full speed ahead like she is hunting someone down. Arms full speed pumping as high as they go. But here's the kicker: the butt is going left to right as fast as…

  • Welcome! MFP is an awesome place! I too had a friend recommend this website to me and I started logging my food. I have always worked out/ played sports but never saw too much improvement in my weight and I wasn't anywhere near what I want to weigh. Working out is great but it really is diet that makes the difference. So…
  • For me mornings work best. I used to be one that shuddered even at the thought of getting up early. But it became my only option and I gave it a shot. I LOVE IT! I went from being a cranky person in the morning and sluggish until about 10 to up and ready to go. Working out makes me feel great and gives me lots of energy…
  • Try doing different things while you walk or just do some things to break it up. Such as... Slow down the treadmill and turn sideways and do squats or just walk sideways Walk backwards (really helps if you have back problem, like me  ) Change up speeds and inclines Watch tv (set challenges... like going to jog until…

  • Thank you everyone! I really do realize how blessed i am! An amazing friend! My trip went great! I passed on foods even when everyone else was eating them. I had two splurge meals during the week (ok well maybe three) I used my book before almost every meal we ate out and I can't tell you how helpful it was!…
  • For me working out always became an escape. Especially after I lost a close friend of mine who had been a mentor for me. It hadn't been before but working through emotions the gym or field or wherever I was became an awesome place to escape. No matter if I was happy or sad I just wanted to get away. It was a time to think,…

  • I too have been trying to heal an injury. What's really been great for me the last few months has been swimming! It takes all pressure off the joints and really you burn lots of calories! So if you have access to a pool that is a great option. Or just doing something like lift weights and just stick with upper body so you…

  • Oh boy my first day I went out to eat and was over um... dare I say??? 500 :embarassed: Just think of this is a learning experience! It really was a great way to start! It made me realize I was eating many more calories than I thought I was! 300 truly isn't that bad. Just take that into account and continue to learn and…
  • Hi Jenna! First of all Happy Birthday :) And 10 pounds is a great goal!! My friend too also recently suggested this site and I started about 3 weeks ago and have lost over 7 pounds. I hope you find success and just get a better understanding about what foods you are taking in. That's what I've gotten from this site and…

  • My biggest suggestions would be to make changes graudally. Often times when people are trying to make huge changes in lifestyle (this definitely includes eating) they begin too fast and get frustrated or burnt out and don't continue on with this plan that they have. So if you are not used to eating a certain way start with…
  • Hey Jillian! I think you have come to the right place! What a great way to get started on your weight loss goals! MFP has so much to offer and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I am! I think the biggest thing that you can gain from MFP is just knowledge, and that is very powerful! By entering your food each and everyday…
  • I totally hear you on this one! My day 1 was just terrible! My biggest tips... Keep going! It gets much much easier very soon! Think about what you like from food. And when you like to eat the most. Then divide your calories between all your different meals. I don't care for breakfast so I grab a breakfast bar (90…
