i prefer going to the gym alone. when i went with a friend, it changed how i worked out.

you can eat literally any food and lose weight. the big issue is portion control, and to lose weight, it's a good idea to know how MUCH of each food you can eat. have you input your height, weight and gender into MFP along with your weight loss goal? it should give you a daily calorie amount, and from there you can eat as…

my son has arthritis in his knee, and his PT started him on 3 minutes on an exercise bike, then worked up to 5, and they're gradually working up further. maybe talk to your doctor or PT about doing just a little to start. and i wonder about your doctor. i started out doing 20 minutes on a bike and my knee hurt all the…

while that's true for you, the OPs buddy may already have an injury. i cannot lift any weight over my head, as per my doctor and PT, so not true of everyone.

i'm a 5' 3.5" female, and i lose weight with the calories you said you're eating. i do resistance training and walk for exercise, less than you. unless you're under 5' (and maybe even then) with all your exercise you'd be losing insanely fast unless you have a thyroid issue or you're mistaken about the number of calories…

unless you're a PT or an MD who's also sports medicine specialist, probably not a good idea to give advice to someone with an injury or long term problem as you don't know what's actually causing it. i tore each of my rotator cuffs in several places, different muscles on each side, and it took me years to heal... well,…

please don't just see how you feel. even if you feel much better, you can cause stitches tearing, bleeding and the agonizingly painful dry sockets. also you lost a fair amount of blood and went through physical trauma, and your body NEEDS to heal. you should really ask your dentist. when i had my last extraction, the…

to the OP, did you write to dear abby, by any chance? tonight's first letter sounds almost exactly the same - and she gave you the same advice the rest of us did http://www.uexpress.com/dearabby/2016/11/9/boyfriend-consumed-by-video-games-reveals

my mother stayed with my father for reasons i'm not entirely clear on. they were blissfully happy at first, but by the time his abuse had become a constant and had started to get physical, she was a shadow of her former self part of the time. and my sister and i spent a couple years also being hit before she finally took…

i have bursitis in both hips, have had two torn rotator cuffs, and one still has one torn muscle, have knee problems, tendonitis in my elbows, and that's for starters ;) yes, i have to work around these things, and honestly no PT or trainer has been able to figure this stuff out as well as i do. it doesn't hurt to have a…

i love resistance training - i have since i first hit a gym in the late '80s. and now, after years of physical issues and being overweight, doing what i love can help me feel better and be healthier.

i am 5' 3" and i have been 175 pounds twice in my life. once i was bodybuilding, and while i wasn't low fat, i was unusually muscular for my height. the other time i was in poor shape and probably had less muscle mass than the average woman my height. i could easily have had a 25% difference in amount of muscle mass. i…

you can find lower calorie things to munch, stuff you really like. if you eat regular ice cream, switch to dryers slow churned as it's about a quarter less calories. if you eat cheese, switch to a lower fat cheese with some less calories. my favorite fruit yogurt is 80 calories a container - it's dannon light & fit cherry,…

i find the ointment easier, but also it stays in my eye longer than the drops. i used to get a lot of eye infections (although i no longer do), and have had plenty of chances to compare. btw, wash the *bleep* out of your hands, then put the ointment on a now-clean fingertip and put it in the lower lid. it will spread…

sounds like maybe the doctor wants to scare your mom into cutting down on sugar. or he's like other doctors i've talked to who know very little about diabetes.

the digital scales i own must be calibrated every time you move them. you have to weigh yourself a couple times, letting the scale go off each time. after that, i get the same readings over and over and over... unless i move the scale.

i had a fitbit one - the same one - for 28 months till i finally lost it a few days ago. i did have some problems, but phone support always took care of it. i've ordered a zip, but if it doesn't work out, i'll get another one.

many people here have lost weight without any exercise at all, and many more have lost by just walking for exercise. i myself lost lots of weight just walking daily.

fitbit measures steps; if you want other activities like pullups or situps, you have to log it either here or in your fitbit dashboard.

these aren't particularly high protein ingredients. seeds have as much or more fat than protein. 30 grams of hemp seeds have 14 grams of fat and 11 of protein, 1 ounce of chia seeds has 9 grams of fat and 4 grams of protein. and since fat has 9 calories per gram and protein has 4, making a shake out of these ingredients…

if you cook veggies or meat, you will cook out some of the water and with meat some of the fat. since there's no way to know just how much water (or fat) you're cooking out, and it will be different each time, best to always weigh and log the raw food.

i've lost over 50 pounds while eating what i like, which includes pizza, potato chips and chocolate while weighing what i eat so i don't get crazy. i did put some weight back on when i stopped weighing and measuring, but i started again and things are going well - and i just finished a fudgecicle :)

i guess you posted right as i did. if you keep your food scale out on the counter, it's fast and easy to weigh everything. do you check the accuracy of the database entries you choose? many are wrong - my all time favorite was posted about from a guy who ate a serving of potato salad every day. he chose the first entry,…

my breakfast varies. this morning i had - 92 grams egg whites (2 servings) - 50 calories 21 grams extra sharp white cheddar - 83 calories 50 grams white mushrooms - 11 calories 35 grams spinach - 8 calories all cooked together in 4 grams olive oil - 32 calories 184 calories total, and very tasty, too :) 4 grams carbs, 11…

i'd say you're a good weight, and putting on a little muscle - not enough to appear "built" - will help get the toned shape you want.

endomondo includes roller skating as an exercise, so if you add endomondo to your phone, you can pause when you're taking breaks and unpause when you're back. then you synch your endomondo to MFP and it will automatically add something like "burned 302 calories doing 65 minutes of doing roller skating" and add the exercise…

i have that sometimes. i find taking pepcid can help, but also what i eat makes a difference. and i also find a tablespoon of light sour cream (20 calories per 15 grams/1 Tb) coats the stomach pretty well, and also mixes into some things in a tasty way. also lactose free milk (more soothing than regular milk with lactic…

i'm 5'3" and in 2014 i ate 1200 calories per day - sometimes 100 to 200 calories of protein more if i worked out or did long, vigorous walks. i was the healthiest i've been in years. that being said, if you walk or run a lot, do heavy workouts or work out on treadmills or elipticals, you may need more. MFP has that figured…

then you may be eating more than you think. measuring cups aren't very accurate for solid food; a food scale is much more accurate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpHykP6e_Uk btw, often a slice of bread can be way over the serving size on the package or even be 2 servings.
