i'm looking for a no or very low sugar protein powder in a better tasting chocolate (i'm not crazy about quest chocolate milkshake) and also one that tastes as close to marshmallows as possible. anyone have any suggestions?

new equipment on the way - not quite a functional trainer, but nice and small!
i'm so excited! i always wanted a functional trainer, but i just don't have room for one. the other day, while wandering around fitness equipment sites, i ran across this at valor fitness http://valorfitness-com.3dcartstores.com/BD-62-Wall-Mount-Cable-Station_p_459.html it's like a hybrid of a functional trainer and a lat…

does anyone here use a desk cycle or work on their exercise bike?
i tried working for a little while on my husband's exercise bike today. 35 minutes passed where i had no real awareness of pedaling but during which i built up quite a sweat. at the end of the 35 minutes, my heart rate was close to where it is when i focus on cycling. so i'm thinking to get a smaller bike and start working…

exercise bike with shorter cranks?
after years of having knee problems on a wide variety of exercise bikes at home and at several gyms, i figured out today that my legs are too short for the cranks - if my knees are at a 90% angle at the top, they lock out and the bottom and i usually have to extend the foot that's at the bottom as if i were standing on my…

how'd you do on calories for mothers day?
my son took me to olive garden, where i ordered a child's plate of pasta with prima vera, but i did have two small plates of salad, as well. because i woke up so late, i didn't go over on calories, but it was the most food i've eaten in a sitting in ages, so it was a close thing. so moms who were taken out or cooked for,…

when manufacturer food labels are wrong... :(
i used to eat slices of this delicious pizza from venice bakery. this is a 3 serving personal pizza with cheese and sauce. the entire pizza is listed as 390 calories, and one serving is a third of the pizza, so only 130 calories. i was going to treat myself to a slice just now when i noticed something. their pizza crust at…

knee brace for woman with thicker thighs
i need a simple knee brace or wrap that will work for a woman with thicker thighs with some jiggly fat. the ones i've bought either won't fit around the thigh if they're sized by knee measurement, are too loose around the knee if sized by thigh measurement or slide down or just sort of unravel. i get total relief when…

pondering short-term goals as well as long-term goals
the other day, i responded to a poster by saying having goals makes it easier for me to stick to my calories. someone responded by telling the poster that she thought goals are a bad idea. i know everyone is different, but this surprised me. i tend to have short-term goals, sort of smaller steps toward a larger goal. i…

getting thinner and fitter... and saggier :-(
in many ways i'm doing great. i'm losing weight slowly and steadily, and i'm also much fitter than i was just a couple months ago. i feel better, i'm stronger, my blood sugar is down, my blood pressure is a little lower. the thing is, i've looked younger than i am for years, and i liked that. in may, i could pass for an…

anyone planning on getting the fitbit surge HR?
a fitbit with a continuous heart rate monitor - now, that sounds like exactly what i'd like. tracks resting as well as working out heart rate, wrist worn. anyone else considering one of these beasts?

really having problems :-(
so from may first to around thanksgiving, i was doing great. i worked out, i lost weight, i was healthier than i've been for years. but i kept having different physical issues as i worked out - i tore a muscle in my thigh (and we're talking about light workouts!), painful developed bursitis in one hip, then the other. i…

suddenly fitbit is under-counting my calories :(
i haven't changed anything in my dashboard at fitbit at all, but for the last two days it's shown less calories burned per day then it's shown on MUCH less active days - it shows less than 1100 calories used per day, even though i was up and active. my fitbit, btw, is still logging steps and activity like always. any…

as goal weight is nearing, my new goal may not be a weight...
so i was originally aiming at 145 as my goal weight, and i'm drawing near it. i was hoping to have built more muscle - and am still working out to do so, but at the moment my lean mass isn't impressive. also while i have type 2 diabetes, and while my numbers are pretty good, on days with no walking they can still go up…

lost almost 36% of my bodyweight - i had no idea!
someone on a thread today mentioned they had lost 25% of their bodyweight. that seemed impressive, so i did some math and discovered that i have lost 35.9504132231405% of my starting bodyweight - obviously i'm rounding that to "almost 36%" since that's a looong number, but wow - i really had no idea i had lost that much,…

do you leave your diary open?
i was curious - do you leave your diary open or keep it private? i leave notes to myself in the foods notes, and have an odd diet, so i don't feel entirely comfortable leaving it open, but i can't really see why not.

i had to laugh...
i'm doing 1200 net calories per day, and i usually eat 6 small meals per day. i'm allergic to wheat, and yesterday my son convinced me to buy a trader joe's frozen gluten free mac and cheese. one container is 2 servings, but for my calorie needs is 4 servings. loving mac and cheese, when dinnertime came i eagerly heated up…

losing weight while sick
so i had a heavy cold or mild flu. i felt really worn out in addition to the coughing, sneezing, stuffy nose and falling asleep all the time. i had a fever of up to 101.4 at the top; btw usually my body temp runs low. anyway, i wasn't surprised to lose a little when i had a fever and while i wasn't eating quite as many…

SOOO many people here looking for a perfect tummy...
many people on this board and others have been heavy, had kids or have had yo-yoing weights, yet one of their main concerns is having a flat stomach. i'm not sure how a flat stomach became such a sign of appeal and desirability, but if you've read the news, you may have noticed that many models - even thin ones - have…

is anyone else seeing higher calorie burn from their fitbit?
today and yesterday i saw much higher calorie burn than usual from my fitbit one without doing anything different than usual. i have just under 7000 daily steps today, no more active minutes than usual, yet it would usually show around 260 calories burned and today it's now at 699 :-/

think i'm overdoing it? ;-)
i was REALLY in the mood for something a little salty, but it wasn't time for me to eat... i just weighed and logged 1 potato chip :D (in case you're wondering, it weighed under .1 of an ounce, and it was delish!)

is there a fitness app...
is there a fitness app for android that works with the polar H7 and not only logs / tracks your walks and runs, but also logs your exercise bike workouts w/ heartrate? thanks?

hit my original weight goal...
in 2006 i ht my highest ever weight - 242 pounds. somewhere along the line, i decided i wanted to get down to 165 pounds. i did some food substitutions and got down to 192 finally in 2012. and i still had getting down to 165 in my head as the number i really wanted to hit. it developed all sorts of significance to me. may…

i'm patti, and i'm looking for motivated friends :)
want to talk about working out? like to learn about nutrition, research exercise, talk fitness and different ways to eat? i'm also into music (playing it, listening to it), photography and pets - not much into shoe shopping, talking about celebs or fad diets. i'm looking for people who are really into creating and/or…

polar FT7 question
is the polar FT7 supposed to sync with my phone without buying anything? i have a samsung S4, which is on their list of devices, and i downloaded the polar beat app. but when i go to settings in the app and select HR sensor and try to pair, it just keeps searching, even though my heart rate is showing in the watch. so i'm…

please recommend a walking/fitness app...
i'm hoping that some of you can recommend a fitness/walking app for me that isn't a "map my" app. in the last week, 3 of my walks on map my fitness turned into generic workouts, changing the calories and losing the maps. i'm pretty disappointed by this. i'm not sure if it's an app issue or if this happens when i add…

losing weight - from irritable to feeling good
on may first of this year i started a food diary in a small spiral notebook. i cut my calories drastically without finding out how many i had been eating, and when i felt dizzy and weak, i raised them a bit, to between 1200 and 1400 a day, which worked because i'm just over 5' 3" and had over 40% body fat. i was losing…
