as goal weight is nearing, my new goal may not be a weight...

so i was originally aiming at 145 as my goal weight, and i'm drawing near it. i was hoping to have built more muscle - and am still working out to do so, but at the moment my lean mass isn't impressive. also while i have type 2 diabetes, and while my numbers are pretty good, on days with no walking they can still go up some, so my goal is to hit a weight/muscularity/fitness level where my blood sugar doesn't go above 125 after a meal on a non-exercise day.

the thing is, it's easy to set a goal like " i want to weigh 125 pounds" or "i want a 26 inch waist" or other things involving numbers. i feel that working toward a blood sugar goal isn't as cut and dried, since glucose levels are constantly changing and sometimes things that aren't food or weight related can affect them. in fact, i'm not sure why i feel differently about this type of goal than a weight goal.

has anyone else done something like this? how did it go for you?

  • I really like setting goals that go beyond the number on the scale, and delve into why weight loss is important, how we want to feel, or health parameters. Your goal sounds like it's perfect for you. ~Lynn /Glucerna
