@Sunny_Bunny_ I wouldn't have put it if I didn't think it was correct. I will check out your sites, but my reading over the years has led me to understand the brain does not run on Ketones, ever. My understanding is that the body has the ability to convert protein and or ketones to the glucose it needs. If I am…

Correction...the brain does not run on ketones. But the body can certainly manufacture the amount of glucose the brain needs.

Then don't quit. Think of the reverse, if you quit, what will that get you? If you eat a bunch of carbs is that going to move you closer to your goals? Do you feel good? Ignoring the whole scale and measurement thing for a moment, can you honestly say you'd feel better if you went of the rails? I'm guessing prolly not. You…

Truthfully, what made me was a heart scare earlier this month. I've known low carb was the way to go since 1981 ish, when my dad did Atkins to get rid of his belly. But I ignored what I knew cuz Carbs! I actually started carb nite last year and lost 30ish pounds. Then went off over the holidays and in January my son was…

For a cliff notes version of how carbs/sugars are the culprits of artery clogging you can watch the movie Fat Head.

That's wonderful! I bet you feel over the moon with those numbers. And everyone is right they are inspiring and will hopefully give new folk an example of the pattern and the process.

X-post from the Low-Carb Ladies over 50 board... My FBG has been steadily dropping, under 120 all of last week. This morning it was 98! Take that A1C and stick it in your pipe and smoke it. I'm not really losing weight at this point, but hey, whateveh's my body is healing and it's got a lot of work to do. Starting with not…

I've been using cauliflower a lot this week. Cheese soup thickener, Pizza Crust base, riced. But I didn't use it for the Low carb lasagna I made. For that I used zucchini. It was delicious.

@Karlottap I keep trying to remember this...my body MUST heal first.
-
@StacyChrz that's wonderful. Both the focus on quality foods and the no lobstering. That's what we're supposed to do -- enjoy life.

It was viable for me and my family. I lost 30 lbs last summer doing carb night...and trust me I was very naughty (dairy queen blizzards and donuts), BUT if you can be not naughty (really hard for us carb addicts) and just do "normal" carbs then it could work for you too.

@daylitemag That is an awesome NSV. Woot!

Omgoodness, that is awesome. I hope to say that in a year from now! I'm inspired. Thank you.

@JennifrClaire I couldn't figure out how to look at your food diary, but I did see up thread that you were eating only 1200 calories a day...this is prolly not the way to go. Below is a link to Dr. Jason Fung video. If you watch the first eight and a half minutes, he talks about how low calorie depresses metabolism. Give…

The only thing you can do is take one day at a time. And breathe, don't forget to breathe. For those days that come up like skunk perfumed puke, just remember these two mantras: One you can chant to youself, I'm a duck, I'm a duck, I'm a duck...or the old standby: This, too, shall pass. Either way, when whatever crisis is…

First, congrats on your success. 100 lbs is amazing and you must feel elated to be closing in on your goal. Now to the girl. . . Here's the deal with MOST women (not all) we're flattered by all interest even if we don't/can't reciprocate it. It's really hard to give specific suggestions without knowing either of you. What…

No, they don't work. Waste of your resources. Here's a helpful, though, brutally honest post on loose skin. Hope it helps you. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1320856-success-and-loose-skin-worried?hl=loose+skin&page=2#posts-20463380

It is NOT a recipe for how to lose weight healthily. It's not a show I would want to go on. Those folks are in a pressure cooker. The motivation is something that can be maintained by the average person over any length of time...and it's some smoke and mirrors. People don't really lose the kind of weight portrayed in the…

Both of them have crappy form. Her lower back drops into a heavy curve as she's rising (that's just begging for a lower back injury/strain) and she's bending her neck back, and he's also bending his neck back. Picture if a light pole was laid along your back and across the back of your head. You wouldn't want the position…

Hold out for good/great form. If your form isn't good you aren't getting the benefit of the exercise you are trying to do...

MFP needs to know both your calories in and out in order to customize its feedback to you. I've set up MFP so it can accept both positive and negative adjustments from my bodymedia fit. That way MFP knows when I've been moving without me having to enter the specific activity I've done. I'm unfamiliar with FITBIT, but it…
