  • Are you using a traditional American buttercream and is it a single or multi tier cake? If it's single tier then storing inside should be fine around 70 degrees. If it's tiered be sure to add adequate support for the upper tiers at that temp. I've read that using a buttercream that is part butter and part shortening holds…
  • I would cut back on salt to keep your fingers from swelling so much in the future. For now try this.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2661190/Ever-got-ring-stuck-finger-Viral-video-reveals-trick-getting-No-margarine-required.html My friend friend saw this a long time ago and swears it worked for her.
  • You know, I don't think that you HAVE to drink 1/2 your body weight... however I've found that doing so helps keep me full so I don't have as many food cravings. Also my skin is so much softer and clearer. It may not be necessary, but I'm an H2O convert.
  • You look great! I'd be ecstatic if I looked even close to that good when I hit my 175 GW. I am so envious of my shorter friends. They will loose 20-30 lbs and look like a new person, I lose 20-30 lbs and my current jeans just fit looser. It's good to see that the weight loss will eventually show on my tall frame.
  • You look amazing and you should feel happy about how far you've come!
  • I am not diabetic so I cannot help you there, however dizziness and significant exhaustion are both common in early pregnancy. If you've spoken to your doctors about your concerns but are not satisfied with their diagnosis or treatment then I would recommend you get a second opinion.
  • I'm right there too! I'm 5'10"-5'11" and my highest weight was 293, current weight is 210, and goal weight was 190 though now I'm thinking more like 175 (high "normal" BMI) so my Dr. will get off my back. At this point I'm just dying to get on the scale and see a number that begins with a 1! haha Anyone here have a before…
  • Wow, what a difference is such a short time! You look great! Mind if I ask how tall you are? I'm a few lbs over your starting weight and my goal weight is your current. I've been searching the threads for before and after photo's of tall girls without much success.
  • I am no longer a breastfeeding mommy, my youngest is 2 1/2 and self weaned at 20 months. I started out around 80 lbs overweight with my youngest and gained 33. After having him and having to go dairy free due to his intolerance I lost 45 lbs within 3 months. After that the weight loss completely stopped. Any small deficit…
  • I had this trouble too, especially when I started trying to eat as clean as possible. It is a time consuming process to figure out the nutrition info on home cooked food. I'm not aware of any way to calculate it other than the old fashion way of adding it up manually and then diving out by serving size. I ended up creating…
  • You really have NOTHING left to eat in your house but a few slices of bread, honey, and jam...? You won't last a week in a zombie apocalypse.
  • I make this beef stew that is to die for. It is especially good with Sam Adams Octoberfest which is out right now. I serve this over mashed red potatoes. It's like Fall in a bowl! haha 1 lb stew beef cubed 1 med yellow onion, roughly chopped 2 cups of baby carrots 1-2 cups chopped celery 1-2 cups mushrooms 2-3 teaspoons of…
  • I personally think that is too much homework for a 5 year old kindergarten student, especially this early in the year. I have a son that just started kindergarten and he's one of the younger kids in his class. He's not on the same maturity level as a lot of the other students in his class and he has a terrible time…
  • Absolutely correct! I'm an ex smoker and personally cannot stand the smoke now but I would never tell a smoker that they couldn't smoke around me in a public area. In AZ they have a law that you cannot smoke within 20 feet of a doorway when in public and that's far enough that the general public doesn't have to be exposed…
  • If you want to try a chicken chili this is THE one. Chicken and Quinoa Chili, super low in calories and fat too! 1 cup of quinoa, rinsed One (1) 28 oz can of diced tomatoes Two (2) oz can diced tomatoes with green chilies (Rotel) Two (2) 16 oz cans of black beans, rinsed, drained One (1) 15 oz can of corn, drained (I use…
  • I have a picture on my fridge and I have the outfit from the picture hanging on the wall in my workout room. I try it on after every few lbs lost. I'm determined to wear it again and seeing it every day helps some. I certainly think twice about if I am really hungry or just bored when I see the picture.
  • Mind blown. Lol :)
  • If it hurts that bad then I would ice it and take ibuprofen tonight. If it still hurts tomorrow then see a Dr. I had the same thing happen to me a couple months ago and it turned out I had stress fractures all throughout my foot. It's not a good idea to ignore really intense pain like that.
  • I feel exactly the same! Just yesterday I tried on a dress that is a 14-16 and I was floored when it actually fit. (I was a 20 when I started MFP in June of this year). When I tried on the knee high boots I used to wear with the dress the were so big they wouldn't stay up! Hopefully it will sink in soon so we can all enjoy…
  • Don't let anyone tell you that walking isn't exercise, especially at the pace you're keeping. I started walking when I started mfp and lost 13 lbs in the 1st month. Then I hurt my foot and couldn't walk but the Dr. gave me the ok to do the elliptical with my boot. I only lost 2 lbs doing the elliptical because try as I may…
  • This ^ I love my meat thermometer. Also oven roasted veggies are super easy and always delish. Toss them in EVOO, sprinkle on salt and pepper, and bake at 400 for 20-40 min depending on the veggie. Just check it often to see if it's soft and starting to chat a bit. Also, look into crock pot meals. Nearly every recipe calls…
  • I'll second that!
  • We have one of the huge trampolines too and I jump on it with my son all the time. At one time we had a combined weight of 310 lbs and it was just fine. You know they low ball that number to make 100% sure it won't break with someone on it, I'm sure you're fine at only 10 lbs over the limit.
  • So many inspirational transformations here! Mhe before pic was 2 days after giving birth to my youngest son, I weighed in at 293 lbs that day. The after pic I am 240ish. edited to try to fix photos but I still fail. boo
  • Haha, yeah I would certainly have them take a second... or third look. My sister is pregnant and they told her it was a girl at first, so I planned her entire baby shower around a pink theme, bought a ton of dresses, and sewed a few myself... and then at 20 weeks they told her it was a boy. Go figure. I hope you don't have…
  • Congrats! Boy or Girl?
  • I have a 19th month old, not really a baby any more but I still have "baby weight" to lose. I gained about 70 lbs from the time we started trying to have another baby to the time that my youngest son was born. We lost 3 babies between our oldest son and my youngest and I have huge issues with emotional eating, hence the 70…
  • I used Phentermine to jump start my weight loss nearly 9 years ago and it was great. I had tons of energy without being jittery and I was never hungry which was a huge help in overcoming my habit of overeating. I took it for 2 months and in that time span managed to get into the habit of eating healthy foods in correct…
