The world ending? I couldn't be that lucky. As long as I still owe anybody money, the world is safe.

So it's a "feel good" game then, right? Oooo. I should try this.

Sounds to me like you're processing it in your head right now. You'll find a balance. Give yourself a little time.

You dig through the garbage to find the exact name of the food you just ate.
-
Man, you should friend me. My little group comments all the time. Feel free.

Personally, I don't mind the ads one bit. I'm provided this amazing service for free. They have to make money somehow, and I'm free to ultimately make my own choices about what to buy or not buy. I just know this is a really valuable tool for me. Thanks MFP!

LOL. Marketing at it's finest. That's why candy is across the aisle from Slim-Fast in the grocery store. They KNOW who can't resist it!

"Peter.... yeah, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday."

If I understand you correctly, you should eat the 1200 MFP is suggesting if you want to lose weight. Your BMR is approximately what your body burns in a day just to maintain your body temperature, fuel your heart, etc. It looks like MFP is suggesting you create a 200 calorie deficit each day which will over time cause…

For the Garmin, I can't see why not. The chest strap may get a little uncomfortable after a while, but I hardly feel it while I'm running. The unit itself is like a big wristwatch. You might get a few funny looks, but it's not super-huge or anything.

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but I have a Garmin Forerunner 305 and I LOVE it. It's a workout GPS you wear as a watch, but it has a chest strap for the heart rate pickup. It logs pace, distance, of course heart rate, and even maps it on Google Maps when you upload each workout to your computer. I'm…

If it's any consolation, I don't think you're so awesome. Oh who am I kidding? You're the shiznit.

Wow. You look gorgeous, and knowing you beat thyroid cancer makes you even more so. Great job!

I'm converting an old Greyhound bus into an RV.

Thanks for sharing your amazing story. You should be proud of yourself!
-
Hey! Feel free to add me. I'm new too, and you can't have too many friends!
-
Wow. Amazing. Look what you've done - you're gorgeous!

I LOVE beef jerky and it's a great source of protein. Some people think they're gross, but you should try pork skins if you haven't already. Like zero carbs.
-
You know, what's funny is I thought I knew all of this, but having this web site to complete the picture for me is the best. I LOVE this site!

You can do this. Dream of the person you want to be and let your mind take you there.

If you eat too few calories, your body goes into an instinctive starvation mode where it slows your metabolism, and your weight loss slows or stops altogether. By changing your calorie intake (usually going a bit over what you've been eating to "starve" yourself) you can trigger a normal metabolism and you'll start losing…
-
It IS very counterintuitive, but a real factor. I've been a yo-yo dieter most of my life, so my starvation reflex is very finely tuned. If my body senses that I'm trying to starve it, my metabolism slows to the point where my body temperature actually goes down to conserve energy. Kooky.
-
Just make sure you're sticking to the number of allowed calories, working out, and drinking water. Make sure you're not eating too FEW calories. That puts my body into starvation mode and brings my loss to a screeching halt. Try not to concentrate on the scale. Think about how good your clothes are fitting and see this as…

I certainly wouldn't eat if I wasn't hungry. I'd just do additional exercise tomorrow. That's my 2 cents...
-
Cool post, and you are absolutely 100% right. My ticker shows I've only lost 6 pounds, but I lost 50 before I started here. I'll never go back.
-
Hey! Very cool. Take a little time to really realize what you've accomplished. Thanks for motivating me!
-
Sounds to me like you already know all of the things to try to break through. I find that my body presents weight loss in one of two ways. Either the scale moves or I lose inches. That being said, my advice would be to stay the course, and realize that even though the scale is not moving, your body may be rearranging…

Here's my 2 cents worth... I'd treat each day individually. You screwed up yesterday. You know that, but if you starve yourself today trying to "make it up", you might be so hungry you overeat again. This is a marathon - at least for me. One bad day shouldn't derail your commitment to a healthier lifestyle. This is not a…

What I'd add to this is that even if you did go over today, tomorrow is another day. Every day is another chance to do better. Just keep your calories under the limit and there's almost no way you can fail.
