Our 16-year-old grandson hung out with us for a chunk of the day. It makes me smile that he loves spending time with us and will always say yes, even if we are going to the library or staying home. ❤️❤️

It’s crazy that you removed the best feature of MFP!!!!

me too!

P.S. I consider myself a "normal eater." I eat all food groups and partake of any food that I wish. I just limit my portions (usually). Counting calories isn't abnormal or obsessive, in my humble opinion.

I completely agree with CMriverside. I've lost weight counting calories and kept it off counting calories. When I stop counting calories, I begin to regain. It is simple as above. I think the word "obsession" is overused often with weight loss. It is not an obsession to be cognizant of what I am eating, particularly when I…

This is what I was told by my Sports Medicine physician....there is a difference between soreness and pain. If you have soreness, it is okay to push through. If you have pain, you should listen to your body and back off, cut your distance and/or take some rest days off. If the *pain* immediately resumes when you resume…

Congratulations on how far you've come and good luck on your continued journey!

My shuffle. I love to listen to music when working out and the little shuffle is light way and easy to use in the gym or while running, etc. I never liked using my phone for music but the iPod Shuffle is perfect! Always makes me work out longer

I mowed our 2 lawns (about an acre) with a push mower, no self-propelled fancy stuff. Then I weeded the garden. About 90 minutes of sweat producing but very satisfying work for this old lady. I try very hard not to compare my stuff to others as it only makes me feel lacking. However, in truth, we don't need to compare our…

lots of great stuff here! Yay!

great advice everyone! Thanks for your input. I suspect I may just have to work on my will power harder and, as suggested, not having stuff available - and let myself have a treat maybe once a week or so. I have found that the really dark (85% or more) chocolate satisfies my urge but it only takes one square. Avoidance did…

Amen - I'm with you. Any ideas or past experiences/experiments are appreciated!

Maybe it is my age or maybe because I've been at this for years, but it never stresses me out. If I want it, I enjoy it. If I don't, I say no thank you. I don't worry what others think either way. I always hate those who say "people push food on me..." No they don't. You can eat it or not eat it. Enjoy it or forget it. It…

I had replied, I note, back in 2012, that I found a lower GI index diet useful for me in that I felt better. I will continue to maintain that this is true for me. I lose a bit more weight (though at this point nothing is coming off quickly) and I feel more energetic without so much processed food in my system - which is…

I think the main point was to just think about what we are spending our money on food-wise and to be mindful of what we are eating. So many people say they cannot afford to eat healthy foods - but comparatively, in whatever format, you CAN afford to eat healthy so don't use that as an excuse. I am ready for a whopper…

Personally, I can't eat within 2 hours of bedtime, although that is because I have GE reflux. I also can't eat within 2 hours of a workout or I tend to get nauseous. But these reasons are not weight loss related. Agree with all the others. Eat what and when it works for you and don't worry about it.

Yes, I find myself doing the same! I do catch myself often because I'm afraid even a lick would make me have to start over. The challenge is really worth doing as it keeps me mindful all the time. darn it.

I'm also halfway through the 40 days with no sweets. I have to do something like this periodically to get my sugar addiction/craving/whatever under control. It makes a world of difference to just stop eating them - for me. Will I do it permanently? probably not. But I will remain mindful of things and if/when sweets start…

hahahahaha But each time we get closer. Better to fail epically than fail in a small way? or more importantly, he should have saw that you succeeded for 38 days. God bless our other halves.

The MFP counter is only as accurate as you make it. If you aren't measuring and/or weighing your foods, you are not being accurate. Most of us are amazed and dismayed when we discover what we thought was a portion from "guessing" versus measuring it out. Also, you do need to eat more. Few of us can maintain long term on…

This!

Okay - I am here as of January 3rd but just day 1 for me so I have a long way to go. I'm also on day 2 of the 100-day challenge by John Bingham (to be active for at least 30 minutes every day for 100 consecutive days). I might do the 30-day crunch challenge while I"m at it. I mean, why not go for it all! Once will power is…

Sometimes, it may be just more body awareness. For the first several months I would be constantly discovering all kinds of new things on my body, from soft tissue, bloating, and then on to bones that were suddenly visible, etc. I suspect it is more that you are more acutely aware of things right now as you enter into this…

Most of these goals are unrealistic ..... the most realistic goal I see here recently is 5 pounds by Christmas. Those who are shooting for 15-20 pounds from 11/23rd, etc are....in for epic fail, most likely. That's about 1/2 pound daily weight loss and really unrealistic unless you use crash methods and then the weight…

As above... you cannot push another. I have noted that in the 940+ days I've been in this process, my husband has gone from being somewhat actively against the whole process, at which point I continued to fix him separate meals so he did not need to feel he was being "punished" or forced into things, to now he just…

Keep training! I was worried for my first race also. But you will be amazed at what the pure adrenaline of the crowd cheering you on will do for your time. I have dropped below pace on races before and have never been asked to move. However, again, the crowd and excitement always speeds things up so you'll do fine! You…

I had stalled for almost 18 months. Rejoined Weight Watchers and have lost 15 more pounds. It works for me. So, I do WW and MFP and that makes me doubly accountable. ;) Whatever works for you. But Weight Watchers isn't a bad way to go to help with the accountability and also more support.

My freight train is barreling toward 60..... but I'm more fit now than when I was young. ;)

I tend to only have fast food when on the road traveling whether airports or highways. So, pretty rare. Maybe once a year. Then I typically try to get the least unhealthy... ;) I used to eat fast food 3 or 4 days a week. That was a long time and many pounds away.
