How accurate is MFP calorie counter?

I can't seem to get close to the calorie goal(1820), I usually seem to consume less than a 1000 calories a day according to MFP. I enter everything I eat and have almost completely stopped snacking but I never noticed any weight loss. Recently I have started exercising on a stationary bike and I plan to get back to swimming, so I made an account to count calories and I was surprised by not being able to come up to the goal.

But should I really? I already tried eating more and still got below the goal, also I'm trying to lose weight but I'm not sure if i'm not eating too little.

Do you use scales to weigh the food or guesstimate?

Estimate it based on what is written on a package

The MFP counter is only as accurate as you make it. If you aren't measuring and/or weighing your foods, you are not being accurate. Most of us are amazed and dismayed when we discover what we thought was a portion from "guessing" versus measuring it out.

Also, you do need to eat more. Few of us can maintain long term on 1000 calories, nor should we, for the most part.
