Appreciate the responses. We're talking alpine skiing here. I'm aware HRM-s have classically been based on assumptions from sustained heart rate activity. I was wondering if devices have come along that have somehow attempted algorithms that would translate heart rate into calories burned for anaerobic activities, such as…

I'm good at gaining, good at losing but not good at maintaining. I stop logging when I reach my goal weight and stop worrying about "special" meals. After several cycles of this I now intervene at 4-5 lbs over. At this point I just accept it and try to prolong and enjoy the gain phase. It's almost like making choices while…

A couple of weeks before I came back to MFP I was supposed to go to a party but bagged it. I'd bought a large German Chocolate cake for the party. My confession is I ate it. It took me about a full day but I got most of it down. I have no regrets other than now I get the occasional urge to do it again.

I'm in the same situation with my friends. It's because they're not heavy, they're my bruthas.

My go to's are marinated chicken breasts which I cook in advance, carrot sticks and hummus and tuna fish salad.

Sorry...software problems...anyways I'm curious about these algorithms on machines and how commonly they're this full of it.

Maybe they meant 4,000 calories over the course of several days? Without watermelon filling me up at times, I don't know how I'd make it through my cuts.

I don't like lifting either. But it pays off so I've done it for most of my life.

You would think… But it's just a moment getting it off the rack, I figured I was pushing harder on one side and it was my first sent so I wasn't loose and attributed the heaviness to that. It was an extra 10 pound plate on what should have been 175 pounds of weight. You would also think I could have just pushed through it…

I did what was probably the stupidest thing I've ever done in a gym other day. Distracted by conversation I mistakenly doubled one of the weights on one side of an Olympic bar on an inclined bench and couldn't lift it off my chest. I was solo and had to call for a spot. Was I embarrassed? A little until I reminded myself I…

Didn't realize the overhead presses I'm doing would make it on this list. I guess it's back to hanging leg raises. What's your opinion on weighted sitting machine crunches?

Prawns sautéed in olive oil and lime or lemon juice seasoned with garlic powder, paprika, new mex chile and turmeric, served warm over a chilled salad with vinaigrette. Cold poached salmon also works well. Blackened ahi and avocado slices too.

Inspiring...let no one give up on themselves or set the bar low...

My GF has had problems in the past so to support her I don't drink at all on weekends. Before this abstinence began I had a lot of trepidation. Parties, bars etc. Everyone else drinks. Believe me… I'm not crusading but abstinence for many is not that big a deal. Doing some research I learned if it is a big deal there may…

I can tell by reading forum posts here no one gets grumpy from dieting.

You people are all disgusting and should be wearing diapers. Even with creatine and protein shakes it hasn't happened to me. I did share a golf cart once with someone who had the accident. Pulled my bag off the card and walked from there on. He went down to the pond washed it off and put 'em back on. News reached the…

Running while smoking is a great exercise. Actually the Stair Master is my fave although weather permitting I'm road or mountain biking.

It doesn't seem true for me now but through my 20s I stayed at the same weight the matter what I ate. There's no way I was consistent. So under certain circumstances it makes sense to me that there is a setpoint.

If you want to friend an in shape very active guy in his 50-s who lost 27 two years ago and does bulk and cuts add me....

I remember finding maintenance a lot more difficult than losing. My mind was okay with a short or medium-term mission but the thought of reducing calories permanently was something it would fight. Fast forward a couple of years and a bout with gaining some of the weight back and I found what worked for me. I need to feel…

I can relate to getting fixated on things that don't serve my ultimate goals. For me it helps if I lengthen the timeframe on which I'm focused. My approach tends to be better relative to long-term goals than short-term ones. Perhaps if you concentrate on where you would like to be 30, 60, 90 days from now instead of just…

Turmeric, tarragon, New Mexican chile powder, mustard powder, fresh ground black peeper, cumin, paprika, garlic, cayenne, clove, sage and ginger. Don't make me choose....
