  • My mom looooooved The Firm workouts, and I remember her doing them when I was in middle and high school. I wonder if she still has those laying around somewhere ...

  • I'd like to join! Starting Weight: 139 March Starting Weight: 131.8 (2/24) March Goal: 126 Ultimate Goal: 105 Weigh-ins are Friday mornings. 03/03: 03/10: 03/17: 03/24: 03/31: Total Loss for March:
  • I like to add chia seeds to my morning yogurt for some crunch, and I've also used them in salads and shakes. I use them because they add quite a bit of fiber to my meals without also adding a bunch of calories. They are not a magic weight loss supplement, otherwise, I'd be at goal by now.
  • I'm 4'11", currently at 133 and trying to ultimately get down to 105. I'm back here after gaining what I lost last year. I got complacent and it quickly caught up with me. A few things that are true for short gals: 1. WEIGH and MEASURE all foods and drinks. Once I started doing this, I got a huge reality check about how…
  • No special plans, but we picked up some ribeye steaks that were on sale last night at Whole Foods. DH mentioned grilling them up for dinner, and we'll probably just have some steamed veggies and a glass of wine to go with. Just another day to us. Although I did send him an eCard that said, "I want to grow old and…
  • My hubby is also a Cards fan - you guys are seriously twisted. ;) Congrats, and keep going!
  • Agreed that you need to log accurately, and that means weighing your food. Skip a dinner out to buy a digital food scale. I got mine on Amazon for less than $10.
  • I love this thread. It inspired me to bite the bullet and get a trainer to help me out with starting a weightlifting program. My first session was last night, and man am I weak! But my trainer was super-encouraging, sensitive to my limitations (when I was clearly losing steam!), and I saw a diverse group of people in that…
  • My favorite snacks are: - Whole-grain crackers with hummus - Hard boiled eggs - String cheese - Almonds - Roasted carrot chips (I buy them pre-made, but I hear they're easy to make yourself. Would be good with Greek yogurt ...) They're not super-exciting, I know, but they're super-easy, which is a big selling point for me,…
  • Yeah, I had some edamame mixed in with some things I was eating for a week and my stomach was in knots. The ONLY change in my diet was the soy, so I just avoid it altogether now. Maybe dial it back if you've been eating a lot of it, and see how you feel then.
  • This is one of the best success stories I've ever read. I don't even know you, but I am so proud of you for accomplishing your goals and having what appears to be a fantastic time in the process. You've got this.
  • You can do it - one day, one meal, one decision at a time. The community here is really helpful, and a lot of the people with a bunch of posts actually know what they're talking about. Read the Success Stories on the forum, read the posts that are pinned to the tops of each section, make your food diary public so people…
  • You don't have the wrong mindset, you two just have different ways of doing things. Let her do her thing, and tell her you're going to do yours. Also - if you have the discipline - bring back the Oreos! Just make it fit in your daily calories, if you feel like you can.
  • You probably won't like my suggestion, either, as it doesn't add much in the way of flavor, but I use unsweetened flax milk with added protein. The brand is Good Karma and they sell a vanilla flavor as well, which is pretty good. I like the suggestion of the Torani syrups, too - those are pretty good and will give you some…
  • Lol - I agree with both of the previous posters. Either have smaller portions of whatever it is you're cooking, or just make your own dinner and have them fend for themselves. Either way, it's less stress for you and you get to eat what you want.
  • Are you eating because you're actually hungry or because you're trying to fulfill/stop an emotion, or both? If you're actually hungry, it may be because you're not eating enough of the macronutrients that keep you full: protein, fat, and fiber. Your diary isn't open, so I'm not sure if that's the problem, but play around…
  • Eggs overeasy on top of rice. Add salt and pepper and I'm in heaven.
  • I read (or listened to a podcast) about negative motivation some months ago, and there is some research to back it up, as I recall. Not everyone is wired to be motivated by positive visualization or reinforcement. I often switch between both negative and positive motivation. I imagine being the "fat mom" when my toddler…
  • As long as they aren't expired?
  • I saw some guy grill it on TV once, from the pre-made log, obviously. Sounded intriguing ...
  • Yeah, I ate a bag of cool ranch Doritos yesterday. That was a bad one. So, I feel ya. Log it, and move on. I don't give in to the cravings every month, and I usually allow myself to eat at maintenance for that week.
  • Also think it would be great as a mayo sub with tuna. You might also want to try a flavored mustard. I do one with green chile mustard that is super yummy, with more flavor and considerably fewer calories than mayo.
  • The advice you've received so far is good, but if you're anything like me, putting the food out of sight doesn't mean a damn thing. If I know where it is, and I want more of it, I will go get it. So, when I was first starting out, I got rid of the temptation. None of my binge trigger foods were in the house. If it's not…
  • Creamland Green Chile Dip. I will eat the entire tub by myself, no matter what I have to eat it with: chips, crackers, veggies, as a condiment on sandwiches and baked potatoes. They sell 3-packs of it at our Costco. It's so, so, so wrong but so, so, so right ...
  • I'd love an invite, thanks!
  • Holy mother. I would either get the Porchetta sandwich or the "O" Dog. Man, I love hotdogs. Really, though, it doesn't look like you're going to be disappointed with your choice. Have fun!
  • Krispy Kreme custard-filled (or Bavarian Creme, if you're in the South). My favorite from my youth and still one of my faves today. But my new favorite is a red chile chocolate bacon donut from Rebel Donut in my hometown. Seriously, you guys. Seriously.
  • Only ate half my entree at dinner last night, didn't order a beer, and I STILL have ice cream in the freezer that I'm saving for a craving.
