  • Great to hear it's working so well for you. I also regained -- in my case 38 lbs. 3.5 years after RN. I'm also doing low carb-high protein and walking an hour every day, and it's coming off. Down 16 lbs. since June 26. Let's keep it up!
  • Congrats! Now take it easy, let yourself heal, and follow your dr.'s plan. You'll be dropping the weight and feeling better soon!
  • Aw, thank you, 2BeHappy2. That pic was taken in August 2012 when I was 60 and close to my post-op LW. I'm 2 yrs older and about 20 lbs heavier now.
  • Looks like you're doing great! I had my RNY Surgery in November 2010, so I can give you advice from my experience: I lost a lot in the first year, though I never got to my goal (182 was my LW after surgery), and maintained for a second year with relatively little effort. I became complacent, and then I started to regain…
  • Yes, let's all say Goodbye to that guy, and to our old selves. I had RNY in November 2010 at age 58 and have never regretted it. At 2.5 years out, I got complacent and thought I could maintain without doing the work we all need to do: high protein low carb diet, water, exercise, keeping track of food & exercise here at…

  • Hi Susan, welcome! You're back and that's what's important!! You'll find a lot of information here and at the ObesityHelp website. It seems to happen to a LOT of wls ppl, especially 3-5 years after surgery. We get off track, eat and drink the wrong things, and stop paying attention until suddenly we wake up and realize…
  • Did you try the 5-day yet? Even without a buddy, you can and should do it on your own and get restarted! Good luck!
  • RNY 11/2/10 A quick update. After doing the 5 day restart plan (also know as the 5DPT) in late June, I've gotten back to basics and stayed on track. I'm now down 12.5 pounds from June 26 to August 6. I'm exercising 6-7 days a week (walking 60-75 minutes), doing protein first, drinking water, keeping track of food and…

  • I lost 5.2 in July; 8.2 since June 26 -- but weight loss really slowed down in second half of the month, despite fact that I kept up exercise and diet plan. • That's great, cherryfl! Your experience is so much like mine, and so many others. Sounds like you're doing really well with your exercise and your food. Are you doing anything special with your diet, or is it mostly back to basics - high protein, low carbs -- protein first, only complex carbs, etc.?
  • My next milestone will be getting under 200 --12 lbs. to go! Then it will be to hit 182, my post-surgery LW, reached in 2011, about one year after surgery. Next milestone after that will be my goal of 170 no later than my 5th surgiversary, Nov. 2015. After that, who knows, maybe I'll aim for something even lower.
  • That's great, tm. Feels good to get back, doesn't it? Tell us more about your history. Let's all do this and support each other!
  • Great start, Jessie. For me the major problems were bad-carb grazing, white wine, little exercise, so the FDPT or 5-day Restart plan was just what I needed: it cut the carb cravings. It also helped me to rediscover the pouch and regain motivation. I'm Exercising every day (50-70 minutes of walking), I've eliminated wine…
  • Ok, Buzz, you're still down for the month. Just get back on track and keep it up! I'm having a good month. Walking an hour every day; keeping track of food, feeling good. Good luck, all! • Keep it up! I also regained - 38 lbs. 3.5 years post RNY. Never got to goal and didn't realize I'd gained so much. Woke up on June 25, I joined here and OH, did the 5-day pouch test (5-day Restart plan), and am logging food and exercise every day. I'm doing so much better. I hope you are too!
