  • I was looking for new music suggestions & actually posted my entire playlist at the time : http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/342115-my-workout-playlist-is-getting-stale-need-suggestions
  • ok! My itunes gift card has arrived - I could use some more song suggestions. :)
  • Great to hear various times. My first will be 10/15 & my goal is to finish. :)
  • ok- that's two suggestions from LMFAO (awesome band name btw) so i must check them out. I looked & can't believe I don't have any eminem (lose yourself, not afraid) so I've added those. Will look into the other artists too. Keep those suggestions coming!
  • Thanks guys! Keep those suggestions coming! And a special yay for the other C25k-er's. My first 5k is 10/15 (yikes). Feel free to add me as I would love to have more runners for encouragement!
  • Congrats on signing up! My first 5k is coming up 10/15 & I am wondering what I got myself into (but excited just the same!) Can't wait to hear how you do.
  • I will second everyone in saying stretch, and check your shoes. When I first started C25k, I had some serious shin issues. I started to stretch before & after (esp my calves) and after a few weeks, I replaced my shoes. I was wearing plain old sketchers & now have Asics running shoes. Totally worth the money - I no longer…
  • Congrats on a great 5k & a great running time! My first is in just over a month & I am looking forward to it!
  • Great post - I weighed in today & didn't lose any - but didn't gain. Doing the C25k program the inches are coming off however & the clothes are fitting better. While I still need to lose the pounds, I am still making progress!
  • Suddenly I see - KT Tunstall Great thread btw- here's hoping I get some new songs to add to my workout playlist. :)
  • Good luck - I am sure you will do fine! I agree with other posters - I have never run on a treadmill & do all my training outside. The temp, inclines, wind, noise, etc will be different so it will be good to get outside for a few runs. Can't wait to hear how you do!
  • CONGRATS! That is an AWESOME time!! I am looking forward to my first one 10/15!
  • Great thread! 1. Tricia 2. Tomorrow will be W5D1 3. The first race - to finish! I just signed up for the Candler 5k in Atlanta 10/15 - Then to finish 5k's in all 50 states 4. Because most of last year I couldn't walk - it's been a long haul of surgery, PT & work to get me where I am now! (my couch to 5k story is here:…
  • You can do it! I am on W5D1 tomorrow - a month ago I struggled to do 30 seconds of jogging and now I can jog for 5 minutes straight (and 16 minutes in a session). I just signed up for my first 5k October 15th!
  • Congrats on the finish! I am halfway there & just signed up for my first 5k to be run on 10/15!
  • It's amazing how much Couch to 5k helps. I am on W5D1 (tomorrow), just signed up for my first 5k for 10/15 and plan to do 5k's in all 50 states. I've done a few days over if I struggle and jog at my own pace. I struggled to run 30 seconds and last year didn't walk well because of ankle surgeries - whatever shape you are…
  • Okay! I did it! I signed up for my very first 5k in my quest to run #5kin50states. I will be at the Candler Fall Fest in Atlanta, GA 10/15! Tomorrow I will be on W5D1 of Couch to 5k so here's hoping I continue to make good progress! My goal for this first 5k will be to finish it! We head on the road starting 11/2/11 and…
  • YAY! Can't wait to hear how you did! Jogging for 20 is still an accomplishment and even if you have to intersperse the race with some walks - you will do fine & finish fabulously! :)
  • correction... 1 dog 3 cats. But yes it's still a tad nuts. We were actually just featured on another blog that tells our story of how we came up with this crazy idea. (or rather how I finally agreed to the idea after 15 years) http://iwillescape.com/2011/08/introducing-the-geeky-explorers/
  • kendradl oooh every province would be cool too! I've only been to two myself. And don't wait until you retire...we aren't. ;) We're going to have to work on the road & travel to make it work. Thanks for the kind blog words too!
  • Thanks Jesa - I think it will be a cool way to keep me motivated. I've looked and there are so many cool orgs you can support & events to attend all over. :)
  • Great idea! Even though the recipes are not usually online, I highly recommend Moosewood Restaurant cookbooks. They are vegetarian & very creative when it comes to flavors & seasonings.
  • I am always looking for people to support & support me! Feel free to add me.
  • That's awesome! I am just starting week 2 myself and still can't imagine being able to run for 8 minutes. Keep up the good work!
  • synay - no need to rush it - I agree! Easing into it doesn't make you any less successful! Fastbelly - funny, I did make my husband keep track of the times so he was my 'chase' to keep me going!
  • Roller Derby is all good fun until you break your leg, have to have 2 surgeries and basically not walk for a year. ;-) Thanks for all the positive run feedback & success stories! I also have said I only run when being chased, so even trying this is a big deal for me. I have a feeling tomorrow I will be hurting...
  • Hey there, I work from home, but it's through a physical company that I started with FT in the office. Best thing to do is to search for jobs where you can telecommute, versus 'work from home' positions. It also depends on what you do. I am in IT, so it's easier to find a telecommuting job. Anything that looks like easy…
  • Welcome! I will send you a friend request, as having people that are going through the same thing helps so much!
  • I have been debating on doing this & would love someone to share the ups & downs of it. I had two surgeries on my ankle last year so I too may need longer than 9 weeks. (I am thinking of doubling the first 4 so that takes 8 weeks) Feel free to add me!
  • Welcome! I have found that having people encourage you on is a great thing! Feel free to add me.
