  • Awesome! I wish you the best on your first half! It was a tremendous experience for me when I did it...something I never envisioned for myself, but something I'm SO GLAD I did. Good luck!
  • This is good news! Thank you! I took last week off after my 10K race and figured that with starting LC I might not have the energy to do my runs. But I am hoping to get in a run (maybe 2!) this week. Happy to hear that my distance days will still be good with some training. Yay!
  • Thank you for the suggestions! I am trying to make sure I am setting myself up for success, and the way these competition days are set up, meals get spread WAY FAR apart, so having handy snacks that I can have with me at my judges table is helpful.
  • I did Atkins when I was in college and saw a lot of success, but at that time I was looking for a quick fix. Since spring of 2014 I lost over 30 pounds by counting calories and exercise. However, I plateau'd for a while and, long story short, gained some weight back, but was perplexed how I would be able to break through…
  • SW: 195 CW: 189.8 GW: 160-165 Sticking to 20-22 Net Carbs. Going to add in 1-2 running days and 1 class (yoga or Zumba).
  • Age: 33 Height: 5'9.5" SW: 195 (Yuck! So embarrassed it crept up that high! - 1/18) CW: 189.8 (YAY! 5 pounds down!) GW: 160-165 Currently eating at 20-22 net carbs per day. I've kept my exercise minimal this week, but I am hoping to add in some runs and Zumba in the coming weeks. Will maintain this for at least another…
  • Feel free to add me. I'd love to have some low carb friends in my mix. :)
  • I was reading an article that was talking about increasing sodium during the first 2 weeks and I've been adding salt and working in lots of water....guess I need more sodium! Thanks!

  • Grateful for another monthly weigh in challenge! I don't know if I'll be meeting my goal for July, but the check in accountability has been really helpful for me!

  • I know that feeling of being self conscious around others while you are working out. Every so often I feel it (even now) after having lost over 40 pounds. It usually comes when I go out for runs, especially when the weather's nice and I see more people while I'm running. I'm not a quick runner and there are times when I…

  • Best success story post ever!
  • When I finally got serious about losing, I started at 226. I'm down to the low 180's (I've been fluctuating a lot, so I need to get on it to start dropping again). My goal is to reach 170. I'd love to reach 160-165, but I want to get to 170 first. Always looking for like-minded, encouraging friends!! I'm 33 and 5'9.5".
  • I understand the feelings you went through. I wore a bikini for the first time in public last week. I wasn't around a ton of people, but just being out in the open as I enjoyed time in a 2 piece was a new experience for me.
  • I have been overweight my whole life, so when I got serious about losing weight, the important piece to me was that whatever I did, that it was sustainable. So, for me that means I get to eat things that always seemed off limits (ice cream, carbs, alcohol), but I aim to do it in moderation or plan my day so I can enjoy…

  • This is an amazing story! I'm scheduled to do my first half marathon in June, and while I'm excited, I'm also nervous because I have had a couple of injuries along the way that have set back my training a bit....my goal at this point is to run the whole time, even if it's a snail's pace! You're story is so inspiring. It's…
  • I've lost 48 pounds - 5'9.5" with SW: 224 and CW: 178. I am hoping to get down to 170, possibly 160. I understand the frustration of not SEEING the loss that you want, but take pictures and measurements. Those will be KEY in seeing results beyond the scale. Currently I'm adding weight training to a half marathon training…
  • From my heaviest documented weight, I've lost 25%. When I joined MFP, I was a bit lighter, so from that point, 20%....whatever the case, I'm still over the moon about how great I feel and what I've accomplished!
  • Feel free to add me! I have about 20 more pounds to my goal weight. :D
  • What an incredible journey you've been on! And how cool to think that you're still on it, and where you'll be a year from now. Keep up the great work!!
  • I sprained my ankle during one of my longer training sessions (for my first half marathon in June) a couple of weeks ago, and up until yesterday I mainly was walking and did only up to 1 mile worth of jogging. Finally ran 3 miles consecutively and in 30 minutes! Felt AMAZING to be able to do that after what felt like…
  • When we have chocolate in the house, I just plan my daily calories to allow for me to have a piece or two. That way, I don't play the mind game of "I CAN'T have that!" Which is a trigger for binge eating for me. I also make sure that when I DO get chocolate, I savor every bite.
  • You're comment about always seeing your larger self looking back at you really resonates with me. At my heaviest I was 241, at least that's what I was able to locate in my old journal entry. While I know there are things that I love about myself, physically, I get stuck in looking at all my flaws or what parts of me that…
  • If you're not opposed to it, Goodwill or a second hand clothing store can help you "get by" with an inexpensive pair of pants. Otherwise, I would try Old Navy.
