I just got some blood work done and I am diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. I am still waiting on ultra sounds to get a better clarity on my issue. I have done a little reading on it, and am trying to evaluate my diet and what I need to help my body. I am looking for insights from others on what they have done or are…

Looking to be able to run/jog a full mile without walking (I am about 80% there) and being able to drop 2 pounds this week.

I used to be able to do the splits in high school when I did dance and cheerleading. Ultimately, flexibility is a use it or loose it thing. I didn't use it enough and I reduce my flexibility A LOT! I took up running regularly 3 years ago and was having some issues and realized I was needing to stretch and regain…

Thanks for the info! I will certainly look into all the stretches. I have very high arches and wore inserts with asic shoes for my first half marathon and several 5K races. Since then I haven't updated my shoes, so I guess I was my own feet killer. I'm looking forward to getting into these stretches and finding relief.…

A friend of mine asked me to do a 30 day challenge with her BeachBody group, so I'll be doing that for August, but I need to get my food back in line. I know my issue has been the afternoon/evenings and eating more than I planned/prepared for the day and also I find I have a lot of calorie creep.....wanting to create some…

I just want to have some place for consistent check in. I have had some really good weeks and some really bad weeks. I do notice a difference with my food choices which has helped with reducing belly bloat, but the scale doesn't seem to reflect the change like I think it should. I figure if I have a check in weekly, that…

Had a work Easter Egg Hunt/Party yesterday. I had planned to only have 3 pieces of candy, which turned into at least 7 because I didn't really plan well....I thought if I didn't bring "extra" snacks then I wouldn't eat the candy AND my snacks and blow my calorie count up, but what it did was open the door while/when I felt…

My body is starting to get back on track. I'm not as bloated and I did AWESOME with drinking water yesterday AND eating my dinner at the table. Made it MUCH easier not to feel like I needed something more to eat later. Today I'm allotting for a larger amount of carbs for dinner, since my husband wants to do a baked potato…

I think if you're worried about it, go with the suggestion to take a couple of bites and discuss it with your daughter. Heck, I'd probably cut the burger in half and eat half with another LCHF friendly side dish. That keeps you at the table, supporting your daughter, and not going "overboard" on the burger. My son has been…

Been a challenging few days. My son made cake, then my husband got me hard cider from the local tap house, and I've not gotten good sleep for the past 3 nights. Thankfully I was able to get in some good activity and I even made sure to sit down at the table for a few meals, not every one, but the meals I did eat at the…

What do you like to eat with your hummus? I do enjoy olives and celery, but what other options keep it LC and tasty....and a good "vehicle" for getting it in your belly?

I'd like to hear from someone who's PERSONALLY ran a half or even a 10K race on LCHF. I've seen a similar thread to this and I want to know how someone felt during and after their long race. I've read this study/article more than once, and it's good info, but I'd like to know if anyone has personally put it to the test and…

I just ran a 5K this morning and I ate half an avocado, 1 egg and 2 slices of thick cut bacon. I still had plenty of energy. I'm working my way towards running a 10K for the first time with this WOE myself, and in the past I would do toast with peanut butter or oatmeal to fuel myself before those longer races...I'm keeping…

Mid-week check in! Meant to do a weigh-in this morning, but I was eager to get in to work this morning (early) so I could leave early (TGIF!!). My best gauge is that I slipped on my size 8 jeans (the smallest ones I own) and I wasn't feeling squeezed into them or having MAJOR muffin top....as they are a pair that were…

When you increase your water, your body will need to adjust, and it may take a week or 2, at least, to get situated on that. I find the increased water keeps the ship sailing smoothly, as we tend to live in a dehydrated state more than we think, so 8-10 glasses is awesome! I did a month where I increased my water intake…

I'm still finding my "happy place" with carb intake, but I have typically aimed for net carbs, but I am watching what I do for total carbs to see if there's a trend there. I'd agree with what was said earlier, do what works best for you.

Goals for this week: *Starting tonight (3/8) - Eat at the table. *Run 3 times this week *Make my breakfasts the night before for the next 2 days, so it's all ready to go Feeling a bit defeated, but I've failed to prepare and plan and I'm reaping poor results. Wanting to see results again, not just wishing for results.

I agree...I vote you got some food poisoning, and perhaps the carbs within that mix made it that much worse. So sorry! Hope you feel better soon!

I had 2 goals from my last post: *Consume <40 carbs for the rest of the week (managed 1 day at 32 and another at 42, the rest were over) *Put together a stretching routine and do it for the rest of the week, 3 days worth (I did one day of stretching, but didn't commit to putting a "routine" together) I DID get in some much…

@MyPrimalLife I SO hear you! I was eating CICO, which did help me lose 40 pounds, but I still ate things that were NOT healthier choices because I was looking at calorie value, not nutritional value. Now I feel like I am more aware of what's IN my food and whether I want to eat something that's ultimately going to make me…

I did parmesan encrusted chicken tenders not that long ago. Dredge the tender in a little egg wash and parmesan cheese (we only had the "jarred" kind, not the shredded at the time). Baked in the over til crispy. Husband and son loved it! Served it with green peas mixed with crumbled bacon and a little red onion covered…

Your post is making me think of my parents, as my mom is trying to help my dad eat better, but, as has been said already a few times, he's going to have to want to do this for himself. Keep working on you and hopefully he'll join you. If you can, maybe take a moment when he's in a good place/mood and say, "Honey, I love…

This is a really great feed! @UMDavies Isn't it nice to know that you have such a great support system here? We're all behind you, and it sounds like most of us have been in your shoes, and if we haven't....we probably will at some point in the journey! You got this!

These are all great!! Thank you! Y'all are making me hungry!!

I am finding that LCHF is gaining more momentum and support in the media. Just today there's a video circulating about the "Eat Fat, Get Thin" book, which discusses the fallacy of the dietary guidelines that the government imposed numerous years ago about eating up to 11 servings of carbs/grains and to use oils/fats…

I'd love some more LC friends! :)

March is going to be my "muscle" month. I was asked to participate in a special group challenge on FB, and it involves squats, planks, crunches and push-ups. I TRULY SUCK at push-ups, so I figure this will be a good challenge, and will keep working on my strength and form...even if knocking out the quantity each day means…

So far, just been maintaining weight, then losing....which is okay, but I wanted to LOSE. I need to dial in more on my food and make some better plans. My husband is not LC and has been all about pastas and carby foods and I didn't plan well for the end of this past week, and had more carb intake that I should have. Which,…

Been celebrating my birthday since last Friday (2/19), not always with food or alcohol (though Saturday was the worst of it), but the carbs and sugar has been up more with some of the choices I've made. Thankfully I'm not blowing my calories out of the water, but I am needing to become more diligent with my choices and…
