  • THanks for all the encouragement guys. I really will try to stick to it. As far as dragging the rest of the family with though, I live with my fiance and his dad and brother. His dad has cancer and with all the chemo etc (as well as just being old and set in his ways) he has very strong opinions as to what should take-up…
  • Depending on how much weight you have to lose, yes excercise and going from being sedentary to active can make things go crazy, they should even out though. I'm by no means saying you shouldn't check with your doc for peace of mind's sake, but the same thing happened to me when I started training as a rower in high school.…
  • I'm only truly hungry when I wake up if I have to wake up early. The earlier the hungrier. I know it's weird, but it's been that way for years.
  • while it can be ok for some if they are lucky, if anything goes wrong you usually don't get a do-over. My sister had a bad peircing when she was younger and it caused so much scar tissue that to this day she cannot get another peircing and her earlobes are all purple and twice their normal size from the scar tissue. • I think it depends on what your priorities are as a couple. My fiancee and I definitely ate more as we settled in together, but that's because watching our weight wasn't important to us as a couple. I wanted to focus on my career and I knew he would love me no matter what, so my waistline fell off the radar.

  • Jamaica is beautiful! I was there studying lizards about 2 years ago. :) Make sure you try at least one jamaican patty (they're delicious).
  • You should se your lifestyle settings to more active - that's what it's there for to help compensate for activity you do at work/every day.
  • On average, 2/3 of your daily calorie burn is done during sleep. This is because your body uses up lots of energy making the repairs to muscles etc.
  • I lost about the same amount of weight in high school when I trained for rowing, and I didn't have any sagging, so hopefully the few extra years won't make a huge difference. *fingers crossed*
  • Thank you so much for all the replies. I actually feel *much* better now. It's nice to know there are little rewards out there for those of us who want to stick it out the slow and sensible way. :)
  • I know exactly how you feel. there just always seems to be other priorities. I'm 22 and I just started my PhD in nuclear chemistry last year. This is the first summer in many years where I haven't been traveling for internships or study-abroad, so I have declared it the summer of me. :)
