  • I third the basic obedience comment. I use a waist leash when I run on the street/sidewalk and it's always off-leash on the trails. She knows I'm the boss. I let her run ahead and though she barks to alert me when someone is up ahead, she knows the "back" command and returns to my side when I ask. She's almost three and it…
  • @esjones12 That is great advice! Make sure you start hydrating a few days before. In some races water stations a sparse and you'll get dehydrated fast. There are a lot of ways to get stronger but if you can get your hands on a rope and learn climbing techniques (using your feet), you will feel like a rockstar when you make…
  • I really think when you're on a weight loss journey and see results, your goals will continue to shift and you'll never really feel "done". You become amazed at what you are capable of and you jeep pushing yourself. First it's hitting a number on the scale, then it's working on becoming more defined, then it's getting…
  • Set your alarm... wake up....and do it. Set out your workout clothes the night before. Put it in your calendar. Log your workouts. Hold eachother accountable. Most importantly, stop making excuses and chose your health:)
  • I've been running for a few years. In the spring I start training for a September half-marathon and I run about 5 days a week. When the winter rolls around I like to change it up. This year I've dropped down to running 20km/week and I'm doing Body Beast so lifting 5 days/week. Running has always been the easiest way for me…
  • Sugar. I'm a recovering sugar addict. For real. My coworkers keep swedish berries and chocolate out and visible in the office. It's a constant battle trying to convince myself not to devour the whole jar.
  • If seeing the before and after of @Kellyann isn't motivation enough... I don't know what else is....
  • I have a good collection of tools at home (a mini gym in my basement with dumbells/bench/squat rack/treadmill/wall mounted flat screen for P90X3 and for movies during long runs) so I do most of my workouts at home or outside. I try and get to the gym once or twice a week (I would just pay the drop in fee). I like the gym…
  • I have the Garmin FR 10. It's all you really need. No heart rate monitor. Very easy to use.
  • There are so many ways to do this, really depending on your goals. I'm ADD when it comes to working out but I still need to have a goal. Right now I'm training for a 1/2 marathon in September. This gets the cardio out of the way. I'm following the John Stanton program so right now I'm at 31km/week, with the long run on the…
  • I get my clothes and gear ready every night before bed. My running shoes and pup's leash are waiting for me at the door. I'm usually about 1km into my run before I'm truly "awake" but over the months it has become routine. It starts with a choice, every damn day. Either you want it or you don't. I feel less stress at work…
  • I like P90X3!
  • I'm a little ADD when it comes to fitness so the more diverse the training the better. I am training for a half marathon so I run about 5-6km 4 days a week and do a long run 10+km on the weekend. In the fall I start a fourth session of pole fitness classes. I lift weights at the gym twice a week (or at home). I play roller…
  • I started classes about 2 years ago. I live in a smallish city in Eastern Ontario so people were a bit shocked when the studio opened up. It has gained alot of attention since then. I'm into alot of different sports/activities and pole is a really good fit. So happy to see people coming around and accepting that it's not…
  • I think you're doing great! I love John Stanton's training schedule for the half marathon (from the running room). I used it last year for my first half and I'm doing it again this year along side a bunch of other activities. I like it because the distance is built up very gradually. My race is at the end of September and…
  • I joined a team sport... ROLLER DERBY! I am held accountable to a team of women who keep me motivated to stay fit. It's an amazing workout and great stress reliever!
  • Hey, if running in the morning works best for you, then do it! I'd never pass up an opportunity to work out, whether it's lifting or cardio. Sometimes I run in the morning, sometimes I run in the evening. (I'm a single mom and I work full time). A workout any time of day is better than no workout at all. Cheers!
  • I agree with working with someone who can show you how to use machines and how to use proper form when learning new lifts with bar/dumbbells. (example, knees should never pass your toes when doing squats). The exercise will be more efficient if it's done properly and you won't hurt yourself. I like to work in a circuit.…
  • Hey, good for you for getting into weight lifting! The best way to burn calories and strengthen your body! I'm a fan of joining an online group or doing online challenges (Like the bodyrock.tv 30 day challenge). They teach you the exercises and you don't need alot of equipment. I also worked with a trainer one time who…
