  • I know this is an old post, but .... It doesn't cut out ALL vegetables and fruit at all. Berries, green apples, and grapefruit have very low carbs/sugars. So do most veggies.
  • tonic water has some quinine in it. quinine is prescribed for muscle cramps. if you drink a little for a while, especially an hour or so before bed, you'll be cramp-free. adding gin is up to you :)
  • Congratulations on everyone's successes! I was traveling for work last week and only got one RIU workout in, but did a lot of walking and stairs. I noticed a big difference in my strength and stamina even after two weeks of Slim in 6. Today I resume the DVD's. I'm alternating between RIU and BIU. All the different sets of…
  • Hi -- I do both. Would love to have some buddies, too. I just finished Week 2 of Slim in 6, alternating btw RIU and BIU as I transition into BIU. (Lunges are tough for me, but I'm getting better.) I really notice a difference even after 2 weeks. Good luck, everyone!
  • Hi -- If you go to Beachbody's website, you can read about it there. Or google it, and there is a lot of information out there. It's a 6 week program that has 3 DVD's, each getting progressively more difficult. You do them 6 days a week. A lot of lunges and squats, but not a lot of pounding/high impact (and the places…
  • Hi Kia and Andrea! Congratulations on starting the program! Andrea -- I just track time and calories burned (via my HRM) on a paper calendar. I like being able to see my progress all in one place. I think that you can create an exercise in the MFP exercise log for yourself if you prefer to do it online.
  • This is the beginning of my week #2. I love this program. Lost 4 lbs last week! Count me in!
  • Hello everyone -- I love this program and am glad we're starting a thread to keep each other motivated. I feel so much stronger after only one week. How is everyone else doing? Plus, I lost 4 lbs!
  • A physical therapist can help with this. You don't need cortisone. My podiatrist got rid of mine: taped my feet up, got orthotics, and eventually it went away. In addition to the tennis ball, stand on a stair/step (facing the staircase) and lower down so that you stretch the bottom of your foot and calf.

  • Day #4 of Ramp it Up completed. Squats! Bad, very bad. :) Good luck, everyone!
  • Hello! I'd love to join you. Tonight will be my 4th workout with the Ramp It Up dvd. I'm already noticing changes and look forward to doing it. Would love some buddies!
  • I always forget when you're supposed to use heat/cold. :) Another thing you might want to consider is acupuncture. I won't necessarily correct your alignment, but it could definitely decrease the inflammation/pain. Sometimes health insurance covers this kind of stuff now. Just a thought. J.
  • Can you see a physical therapist? He or she could analyze how you walk and get you back in alignment with stretches, exercises, etc.
  • Acupuncture works for me for these kinds of things ... You could try that to descrease pain and get loosened up. Hope this helps.
  • Hi -- How is everyone doing with this? I did "Ramp it Up" today. :)

  • I have done Slim in 6. There are 3 DVD's, each increasingly more intense, so you may start on #2 depending on your cardio-level. It's a lot of squats and lunges, fast-paced -- seems like the entire 40 mins. Wow, it can be intense. I think, though, if you're just looking to fill up time that any cardio would work -- though…
  • Oh, one more thing. Keep an eye on having your body aligned, no matter what you do -- even if it's going around on crutches. I really got out of whack and had to have a lot of bodywork (shiatsu massage, rolfing, etc) to get myself all lined up again. So be careful you don't start favoring one side more than the other.
  • I know what this is like. I also had a bad break with several surgeries and was on crutches for a long time. I would not have been able to do the rower as the movements back and forth tug on your foot -- and I was trying to keep my foot attached to the rest of my leg! :( The only thing I cd do was that arm bicycle thingie.…
  • Hi -- The best way to calculate calories burned is with a heart rate montior (that has a chest strap). Otherwise, you're just guessing, and MPF and other charts can be way off for you. Hope this helps.
  • Yea, this is me! :) So what I'm doing is working up to it with Turbo Jam -- a lot of the same moves and similar routines and some workouts are only 20 minutes. Turbo Jam is no joke either, but it does seem a step down from Turbo Fire. I am able to mix in some workouts from Turbo Fire, though -- just not many. There is also…
  • Hi -- I think it's possible. There's a rest day and days for stretching and/or toning, so you could add in a run on those days if you wanted to.
  • Hi -- I think they are pretty different. P90X is about "muscle confusion," and TurboFire is "cardio confusion." I am sure people will respond to you with their experiences, but in addition, I'd check out YouTube videos. Listening to each trainer and seeing some of the workouts helped me figure out which one I'd like best.…
  • I also love Turbo Jam. If your DVD doesn't have a "learn" section that goes through the moves, you may be able to find it on YouTube. If not, the routines repeat so once you get the hang of it you'll be fine. It's a lot of fun!
  • Wow, you are one powerful woman! I think you are doing great. Thanks for sharing this. I am sorry that sometimes you have a tough time, but please know that you are inspiring to me.
  • Good luck! When I did this, I got strong pretty quickly with all the squats and lunges. It's a great program.

  • About acupuncture: you feel nothing at all, only the persons fingers where he or she is touching you to insert the needle. A couple of people said chiropractor. I also think any kind of body work helps. If you think about it, when you're on crutches and then limpling, your body has to compensate big-time for being out of…
  • A few years ago I had a BAD break (hospitalizaiton, surgeries, years of PT). What got rid of my pain, utimately, was acupuncture and green smoothies (60% fruit, 40% greens). You can google green smoothies to see how they help the body heal. These things worked for me. I have no pain any more and have no restrictions. Good…
  • What do you mean about people not shutting up about this program???? We're nothing compared to the P90X and Insanity people! :) Ha. To the person who asked what kind of weights you need: the program comes with resistance bands, so you can use them. I use dumbells. The intention of the program is to get STRONG and…
  • Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well with your workouts. I finished the first week of the Push Circuit today. Whew! Can tell I'm getting stronger, but "ouch!" Feels great, though! Good luck everyone!
  • Ha. I stalked the mailman too. I just started adding in Turbo Jam, mostly the ab workout and the 20 Minute session. I am really weak cardio-wise, but seeing improvements. I also have Turbo Fire, but I definitely need to work up to that. If you wouldn't mind sharing, what were your results? I'm just curious.
