I'd just be straight up and say you can't maintain her pace. It is what it is. Some people intentionally walk faster than whomever they are with and it's a ridiculous battle to fight.

Miles run/walked year to date :)

Googling immigration options....

Thanks all! I loaded up on walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pecans, full fat yogurt, bacon (it's a whole food, yes??), and walnuts (which are zero net carbs if I'm looking at it right).

MCT oil? Yes, hot sauce goes with everything!

I've noticed I don't have post-dinner snack cravings! Very cool stuff! Thanks for the suggestions :)

Bad surprise: Nuts and beer. The serving size is tiny for nuts and even just run of the mill beer will set you back about 144 calories, craft beer can be as much as twice that. Good surprise: Grilled chicken breast. Low fat, low cal, high protein. Grill up a couple of pounds over the weekend and you have an endless array…

It's the dreaded "last ten" pounds. There is a difference between getting lean and losing weight. Some have found success with being more careful about nutrient timing (e.g. carbs for fueling workout, emphasis on protein after lunch, etc.), you could also occasionally do moderate distance/timed fasted workout (no…

^^This! I just discovered this site the other day, loads of recipes and all have great reviews. I did a cheesecake recipe that was perfect!

Goals are just cross-training. I run, but I run better when I cross-train and my preferred cross-training is weights (or similar). My house is really old, so there's no way I'm going to mount something to the door, but I'd love a suggestion for resistance bands (my amazon.com search turned up a zillion options).

Yes! Something like that sounds perfect! Thanks, I'll point myself in that direction :)

I have a very small travel-sized scale that I bring with me. I also make a huge effort to bring as many of my snacks and meals pre-packaged (i.e. portioned/weighed out) as I can.

I didn't even think of gummy bears! My daughter will be all for that, ha ha. I have a bag of mini candy bars, would those be too heavy in the gut?
-
I did a little research the other day and discovered all the wonderful differences between soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble stays in the gut a whole lot longer and swells up immensely (thus keeping you feeling full), insoluble sort of sweeps through quickly and doesn't swell. Looking at my food diary it turned out I…

I try and cook up a big batch of grains and grill a big batch of protein. Then I can add various toppings (veggies, nuts, cheese, dressing, etc) depending on how I'm serving it (rice bowl, salad, omelette, etc.)

Thanks all for the feedback, I would have replied sooner but I didn't realize anyone had commented (grr....MFP). I tweaked my HR zones for today's run using VO2max data from three years ago, and I think I started out too fast and ended up jog/walking a bunch of the second half. Still more satisfying than the default…

My plans are similar, I know I'm a lot faster when I lift regularly.
-
I went ahead and took the plunge and I'm glad I did. It's a lot easier to keep on track with my macros when I can see how they play out meal by meal instead of in aggregate at the end of the day. Nice not having the annoying ads too.

There are lots of things you can get that don't require a fridge or microwave: apples, oranges, pears (etc), triscuits/other healthy crackers, shelf stable meals are great (high in sodium, but still better than restaurant food), freeze dried vegetables, canned/vacuum sealed tuna fish, etc. my suggestion is to take a long a…

1.5 mph is really, really, really slow. I don't think there would be any bouncing.
-
I think you've misunderstood the theory behind "no long runs more than 3:30" mantra. The idea isn't that your marathon needs to fit within that pace, it's that your not going to see any physical benefits pushing beyond that point in training. Thus many plans that support this theory do longish runs day before the big long…

4:10 is a disaster? Ummm. To each their own. I call a race successful if I gave it my all, ran smart and didn't give into the mental naysayers kicking around in my brain.
-
60 mile weeks? To me that sounds like perfect injury conditions. No need for 60 mile weeks, I think my max falls somewhere around 45, and that's right at the peak. Everyone isn't built for every type of race, for some (such as myself) it takes a good 3-4 miles just to settle in and find your groove. And I don't think most…

When I first started running it was to train for a marathon. This decision was made when I couldn't even run a block without getting winded. I trained for a year and finished my first marathon in 5 1/2 hours. It could have been a lot shorter, but I mentally psyched myself out at mile 18 and it was all downhill from there.…

I'm interested in being a mentor, provided the mentee (?) realizes I'm only human. I came to MFP maybe five years ago, got Uber fit, got pregnant, dropped off for 18 months or so, have been back for a while now. I run (mostly marathons) and I lift (when I can afford a trainer). Mom of a 3 year old toddler, work full time.…

No clue, I just measured biggest part
-
Wow! Lots more choices than I thought! Guess it's time to go shopping.
-
On a whim I just did my measurements. 29" waist and 23" thigh. I don't think my thighs are big. What are other women doing (besides not lifting) that would make them scrawny enough for these jeans??? Maybe tailored is the way to go, how hard is it to tailor the waist?

Both great suggestions! I love Missoula but I am also really really fond of small races.
