My main ride 2019 Kona Libre. Just bought a set of 700c Hunt carbon gravel wheels to swap out the stock 650b's with.

Yeah, bikes especially in rare sizes are hard to find at the moment. Scott is another brand that offers good value/performance balance.

Canyon is great bang for the buck. I have a friend with one and she loves it. The Salsa Warbird is a super popular choice in the gravel scene, they ride nice, but more racey. I'd suggest you also check out the Salsa Cutthroat which can race, but has a bit of utility as well. The Warbird was actually my second choice when I…

Sounds good, ntnunk. It's looking like some home expenses may be less than first thought. If that is the case, I may get something while they are cheap. Should no by early next week.

We have a good variety of trails out here. It goes from nice smooth Beginner/Intermediate stuff with a pump track to tough single track trails with steep punchy climbs/descents, roots galore and rock gardens. I raced BMX from 12-17 and lived on my bike. I also dabbled with MTB's back when I was in college in West Virginia.…

I debated all weekend and came close a few times to breaking down and getting it. But, I have decided that I am going to hold off and A. Lose at least 15 more pounds first, and B. Save up more funds so, I can get whatever bike I want without stressing about the $$$. Plus, there is so much to learn about Moutain Bikes. It…

I used to race BMX, so Mountain Bike seemed the next logical step for some variety.

It's an 2013 Izoard XP Ultegra, however, some of the parts were FSA OEM stuff, so I decided to replace that and the wheels. What's New Wheels: Williams S30/Powertap, Ultegra Cassette, Vittoria Open Corsa CX Chain: Ultegra chain Bars: FSA Wing Compact bars with Red Lizard Skin bartape. Cranks/BB: Ultegra cranks and BB Seat…

98% done with the upgrades on my bike (just need new stem). It rode nice before, but rides, veeeeeerrrrry nice now. It's not that flashy, but a solid all around bike for the road.

I won't be much help, but I had the same issues when I initially started cycling again. The IT band always felt tight and made my legs feel weak. It eventually went away once my fitness and leg strength improved. On rare occasions I feel it when I am pushing my limits on a ride. Other riders I talk to with the same issue…

I too have (had) ambitions for a doing a structured training plan this winter via, Trainer Road, Sufferfest and a weekly outdoor club ride. However, I am now working 6 days a week on a project and suffering my first of what I am sure will be several colds my son brings home from daycare throughout the fall. In addition,…

It's great once you make that break through with distance. If you did 35, you can do 50. Might be a bit tired at the end, but you can do it. Next stop is a Metric Century! Signing up for a ride is a great motivator, that is how I made my best gains early on.

That hill climb looks like a blast!

I would recommend you download and use Strava http://www.strava.com/ in coordination with your HRM. Strava will map your ride and measure Speed/HR (from monitor)/Elevation/Calories and most importantly give you a virtual power measurement. The combination of these will be much more accurate than a Fitbit (by their own…

Williams makes a good wheel for the price and their customer service is top notch. Will hopefully see how they ride this weekend.

They are clinchers, aka just nicer/lighter wheels than what I had. Unless I start racing again, there is no way I am messing with sewups. (Well, if I picked up an old Team Miyata I'd go sewups for nostalgia.)
-
My new wheels arrived! Price and weight were right, and now can train with power as well.

Not sure of the benefits, but I enjoy having an English Breakfast Tea with a bit of honey in the morning. For me at least provides a relaxing lift (not jittery) and staves off the appetite some.

Simple Answer: Ride them both, pick which one you like better. If you plan to race cross, I agree with cowbell and say get the Felt. It’s 4 pounds lighter, $500 cheaper and has better geometry. The Surly is nice, but is designed more to be a jack of all trades bike, not a racer. But, then again I could bring my sons…

First thing, yes you made a huge mistake, but it sounds like you served your time and are remorseful for it. Now consider it a lesson learned, never repeat it, and move forward. You can’t keep beating yourself up for what happened in the past. I am sure many will offer advice for the next step. All I can suggest is what…

Another Roadie here. Due to my work schedule and a toddler at home, I can only ride twice a week right now. Currently have a 2013 Wilier Izoard XP with full Ultegra 6700 (I know blasphemy on an Italian bike) with a set of Williams S30’s (and a powtap hub) on it. If I can achieve my goal weight and (maintain it), I will be…

Haha love it!

Congrats! Gotta love getting a new bike! Hope it serves you well on your journey!

Sweet! Love my Wilier! I am sure the Cento rides like a dream.

08/04 - 17.7mi in 1:05:00 - Easy ride to burn off calories gained at the LFC vs. AC Milan Match in Charlotte. 08/06 - 17.8mi in 1:05:48 - intervals.... blaah 08/10 - 30.3mi in 1:58:40 - Another slow roll taking pictures and exploring a new section of the Greenway. 08/14 - 17.1mi in 57:08 - Went hard, for me…

Nice, mine just arrived a few minutes ago and now downloading the free maps to it!

I shoot for 50-75 miles a week since I can usually only ride on weekends. 08/04 - 17.7mi in 1:05:00 - Easy ride to burn off calories gained at the LFC vs. AC Milan Match in Charlotte. 08/06 - 17.8mi in 1:05:48 - intervals.... blaah 08/10 - 30.3mi in 1:58:40 - Another slow roll taking pictures and exploring a new section of…

Wow, a 100 mile TT! The club and sanctioned stuff here was usually 10 miles haha.

Those flying gate bikes are ridiculous, but dig the old TT bike. Back when I raced, I never actually saw one used, though I did see an occasional disc. My friends and I always dreamed how much faster we would be using one.

The short wheelbase stuff in the ‘80’s usually revolved around racing Criteriums, which were very popular. Crit bikes usually had a short wheelbase, high BB, steep head tube. My old ‘86 Team Miyata which was more of an all around racer, but had some pretty aggressive geometry compared to my current Wilier (which has…
