Thanks for the good advice everybody. I scan barcodes when I can, and measure, but I will also get a scale. And the reason I had calories set so low was because it syncs with my fitbit and if it said I had more calories to eat then I'd eat them. I'll try and not use those. I need to work on willpower and self control. And…

Love your post. It makes sense to me. So any idea how many calories I should eat to lose 20 lbs? I am female, 5'4", 49 years old, weigh 150 lbs, walk outside 45 minutes daily, go to gym twice a week. Most of my extra weight is in my stomach, which I know is not good. Definitely apple-shaped. Thanks for your advice!

I don't think you're eating enough calories for your activity level. Try adding more lean protein and vegetables.

Well, kidney doctors will say we eat way too much protein in the United States and it's bad for us but I don't know if they are just talking about meat, or protein in general. Some people think you should have more protein than anything else, for easier weight loss. I just don't know.

You have a pretty face/forehead and the heavy bangs hide it too much. I'd say no bangs, lighter bangs or side bangs.

I have a kindle. I like it but still prefer books. I check out books from the library and I don't like to travel with them so I use my kindle more for traveling.

YES, ALWAYS! I've seen too many accidents, and I've wiped out myself, going only 5 mph, on a tiny bit of gravel in the road! And I landed on my helmet, so I'm glad I had it on.

Yes, I did one in Kansas City this summer. It was fun but it was just around the football/baseball stadiums so not very scenic. And it was a 108 degree day so they upped the start time to 7:30am. It was HOT.

I think you need to eat more than 1400 if you are running that much, and doing other exercises besides that.

I read your story and think you are truly amazing to be able to overcome the horrible things you were put through as a child. You are brave, strong, determined. You are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story and helping others.

I like apple cinnamon oatmeal with a few semi-sweet chocolate chips stirred in. Also a kashi seven grain waffle with peanut butter and blueberries OR topped with an egg and crumbled feta cheese. The carrot cake oatmeal sounds good... and I've never tried cinnamon on cottage cheese!

All that extra sodium can make you retain water. And going over on sugar can zap your energy and make you crave more. You may need more protein. Good job keeping at or just under your calorie goal.

That sounds just like me, except I'm twice your age! I found that if I have food with lots of sugar it makes me want to sleep. Check your food diary and make sure you're getting the correct amounts of carbs, protein, sugar, etc..

I eat some daily in my cereal, yogurt , salads, ice cream. A dietician recommended them to control blood sugar and keep your body from storing fat. But I don't know if they work. I am not diabetic so I don't keep track of blood sugar. I thought maybe they would help prevent diabetes since there is a history of it in my…

I've also noticed that happens to me if I stop exercising. I've just assumed that I am losing muscle weight but I don't know.
