  • 3x. 225 free/25 sprint/50 kick/100 pull/50 side kick Then I did 450 free (sprinted last 25) just to see if I could.
  • Today's swim 200 free warm up 4x 225 free/25 sprint/50 kick/100 pull/50 sidekick And then spent 10 minutes working on flip turns and got about half the pool up my nose because I forgot to blow out the first time 😂
  • Did I know you're a fellow west coaster? Regardless, have an amazing time on the ascent.
  • Forgot to post my last two swims. Not that they were anything amazing of special, but I did it :-P Sunday I did a mile in 50 minutes. Not a nonstop mile, but still. I was happy. Tuesday I did 35 minutes, working on more endurance, so swimming more lengths before a break. I am doing something odd with my breathing. When I…
  • Today's swim was short - 20 minutes - but I did some sprints. Also swam on Monday, 35 minutes. I need to get back into doing more than just going back and forth. Need to be more intentional with the workout.
  • @girlwithcurls2 I have not. I got super out of the habit, gained a bunch of weight, and then decided I didn't want to live like this so I got back to it. I ended up joining a gym that has a salt water pool and the hours are SO much better than the community pool I used to swim at, which is helping a lot.
  • It's been a minute (or 3 years, but who's counting?!) but I'm back! No idea how many laps, but I did 30 minutes and the gentleman in the lane next to me told me to leave because I swim too fast and was making everyone else look bad :D so we'll call it a win!
  • Looks like I'll be down to 0 or 1 swims per week for a while. I have a show opening in 18 days so things are hectic.
  • I've never had that issue. In doing some research, there doesn't appear to be anything one can do to prevent it, primarily because they just don't really understand BV. I suppose you could try supplementing with probiotics like they say to do for yeast infections.
  • Short swim today as I left work later than intended. And then when I got there I couldn't find my lap counter so i know i did 25 minutes but I'm not sure of the distance. I do know I pushed hard and did a ton of sprints.
  • I forgot to post yesterday!! 50 minutes, 1 mile 800 yd warm up 6x 50 side kick/50 pull/50 kick/50 sprint (:52, :51, :50, :49, :50, :50) 200 yd cool down Felt good to be back in the water - first time in a week due to a cold that had be in bed by 9 every night and unable to breathe!
  • So true. Now if I don't do a mile it's a "short workout." A few months ago, a mile didn't even seem possible!
  • I have the same counter as fishy. I don't swim without it anymore.
  • Swam last night. Got to the pool a bit later than planned so only swam 38 minutes, but managed 1350 yds in that time. A mix of sidekicks, kicking, pulling and sprinting. Those darn kick laps slow me down significantly but I know they're important. Did aerial yoga tonight. I got to move up from the beginner class to…
  • I FINALLY GOT TO SWIM!!! Pool closed on Aug 31 for maintenance and reopened on Sept 19, but I couldn't get in until today because of my schedule. Turns out they changed the evening lap swim times too, which actually makes it better for me. 1 mile, all freestyle, 42 minutes 50 seconds. Slower than I was, but I've been off…
  • Noel, I love the Kondo book! We've been weeding out based on the joy method too. I have so many pair of goggles that I don't know why I can't get rid of these. Wait, yes I do. They were the first pair I got when I got back into swimming. Damn sentiment!
  • Marissa, congrats on your PR!! If you're interested, I have a great breathing drill. At least, it was great for me when I was learning bilateral breathing. Take a kick board. Stretch out in the water so that you're in normal freestyle swimming position and then "superman," with your arms out in front of you holding onto…
  • Guys, I'm going nuts. Pool has been closed for a week now and I still have 13 days to go. AGH! I have so much pent-up energy it's kind of ridiculous. Did an hour of yoga today. Will do a 3-4 mile walk with the dog tomorrow morning. Trying to stay active even when I can't be in the pool and counting down the days until I…
  • This is so true. It's the reason I threatened my students today with making sure they go home on time. When they go home on time, so can I, and then I get to do the things that let me take care of me - swimming and yoga, mostly - and when I'm doing those things then I feel good and want to do the food part too.
  • That's impressive! My breast stroke is so darn slow. Pool is closed for 3 weeks, and even if it weren't I'm working late all week so I couldn't get there before it would close for the day anyway. Did 3.36 miles walking with the dog tonight though. Worked up quite a sweat even! You know what kills me? I can do 3 miles with…
  • Felt super slow today but ended up just 6 seconds over my PR so I guess I wasn't that slow! 1 mile, all free, 40:05 And that was the last swim for 3 weeks, unless I can get into another pool between now and when my pool reopens after maintenance.
  • Curly-Girl, mine closes Monday until the 19th. I'm not sure what to do with myself! Today's swim was fab. 1.5 miles, 80 minutes, the longest yet! 300 yds warm up 4x 100 pull/100 side kick/100 sprint 6x 50 yds interval+10 4x 50 pull/50 kick/50 swim 300 cool down, mixed strokes
  • AQ, I was focusing on engaging the core abd staying long yesterday. Through it all, I kept hearing my yoga instructors voice since those are things we focus on in yoga too!
  • Finally back in the water today! 60 minutes, 2250 yards. 300 warm up 4x 50 pull/50 side kick/50 pull/50 straight kick /50 sprint 6x 50 yd interval+10 And then i just had 15 minutes left to make an hour so i just swam easy but really focused on my body roll.
  • swim pull buoy http://www.swimoutlet.com/pull-buoys-c9664/ It goes between your knees and then you use just your arms to swim.
  • The cold things work ok. We used to use them a lot playing softball in the heat. Pretty much anything will get me red-faced. Slightly warm in my classroom? I'm bright red and my kids are asking if I'm ok. The worst is the line at the jawline where the skin is red on my face and white on my neck. Seriously, isn't there…
  • Practice. When I started, I could only do 1.5 lengths of the pool without having to stop to catch my breath. Now I can do a full mile (72 lengths) with no problem. Just takes time and practice and being willing to push yourself! Gift, there are lots of great swim instructional videos out there. The catch up drill with the…
  • I've been licking them. Gross, but it seems to be working!
  • Can i ask what your numbers were? I'm incredibly hypo (TSH of 34 last time it was checked with a low T4 as well). I am able to lose but it's definitely difficult. I wonder if maybe you need to focus more on your macros. Can you either open your diary or give an example of what you eat daily?
  • Trying to get into the schedule i think I'm going to do once school starts again, so swam this evening and only had time for 36 minutes but i managed to do 1400 yds in that time. 300 warm up 4x 50 pull/50 kick/50 swim 4x interval+10 ...and then there were 8 minutes until we got kicked out so i did another 300.
