  • Great job! I guess in the same way that some people cannot say "sorry" without adding "but...", some people also cannot say "WTG!" without adding unsolicited advice.
  • Best of luck to you. I don't really get the concept of "make" and "let" in a relationship, that just doesn't work for me. You are so, so young. My goodness.
  • My burns for lifting are definitely lower, generally, than for more traditional cardio (running, kickboxing, etc.) but I am still burning a lot more calories than if I were just going about my normal day. There is a wide range of burn depending on what lifts you are doing and how much you are lifting, as with anything else…
  • I am 46. I do a combo of cardio/strength/flexibility training 6 days per week. I'm big on HIIT so I don't spend hours working out each day but I am making the most of my 25-40 minutes. I also continue to log and eat responsibly. It took me a year to lose 70+ pounds and I have now kept it off for 2.5 years.
  • They have been great for me, because working out at home fits my lifestyle - going to the gym is just not an option. I agree about Shakeology - I have tried it and wouldn't buy it a second time. For the workouts, I have done ChaLEAN Extreme, Insanity, T25, Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire and PiYo. I found the greatest changes to the…
  • I just took a peek at your food diary, and the answer to your weight loss problem is right there. Best of luck to you.
  • 1,190. 72 pounds off (in 1 year) and kept off for 2.5 years.
  • Scotch no, bourbon yes. Beam, Woodford, Pappy. Yes, yes, yes.
  • I lost and have kept off (for two years now) 72 pounds. In the beginning, I just counted calories, but I got hangry, so I started to exercise so that I could eat more. Lo and behold, I love to work out. I did lots of cardio, and that worked for a little while, but the single biggest thing that changed the shape of my body…
  • Thank you for this thread. Just this morning I was complaining to friends that even after 3+ years of working out 6 days per week, eating right, etc., I still have not demolished my c-section(s) flab flap. I've slacked off on lifting, that is the key aspect where my current activities differ from your suggestions. I love…
  • My kids are 5 and 8, so for the 5 yo it's easy - no sleepovers yet. For the 8 yo, we've had her BFF sleep over at our house but she has not yet slept over at a friend's house. I would absolutely need to meet and have a comfort level with the parents before I allowed a sleepover. If I don't know you, have not been to your…
  • This is definitely not about the dinner. FWIW, as many others have said, when I travel for work, we aren't eating at places with pictures on the menu but there is absolutely nothing romantic or datelike about it.
  • You look radiant, absolutely fantastic!
  • Congrats to Mr. 1500, great job! I am at 1,008 today.
  • While I absolutely agree that strength training will help, there are limits. Breast tissue is not made of muscle, so the best you can do is firm up what is underneath. You can shape muscle but you cannot shape fat. If you had larger breasts to begin with, gravity has probably been a far larger force in your life than you…
  • I'd had two children in the span of 2.5 years, and I was absolutely the fattest I had ever been. I hid from the camera, I felt horrible when I saw pictures of myself. I had a million excuses. I belong to an online "bookclub" (I use quotes because as with many bookclubs, it's not really about reading so much), and quite a…
  • So, your perception is that she was judging you, and the reality is that you judged her, too, so I would say you are even and should move on.
  • I've done JM 30DS and Ripped in 30; Butt Bible; Turbo Jam; Turbo Fire; ChaLEAN Extreme and Insanity and I like all of them for different reasons (I do hybrids now, with CLX 3 days/week for strength training, and then something else for cardio and/or endurance. If you have Time Warner Cable, there are a ton of free exercise…
  • You can, and you will! After all, there is beer at the end. ; ) The 5K route doesn't have the brutal hill, so that is an added bonus.
  • Stick with it, you will get stronger and be better able to do everything. You get lulled into a false sense of security because you finish month one and feel all proud that you did it, then you have an easy transition week, and then BAM. But, you can do it, you will do it, and then you will really feel proud!
  • Ditto Coug, but change 40 to 45.
  • I'm about to start my "recovery week" before transitioning to the second phase, and I love, love, love it. I started as an already fairly fit person, so my goal is just to improve fitness and not to lose weight. It absolutely is helping with stamina and speed. I really am enjoying it and wish that I'd started sooner.
  • If you have access to On Demand programming from your cable provider, most of them have free exercise options. Time Warner has it under Sportskool, and there is a decent variety so you can see what sort of things you like before spending $ on dvds and equipment. Check your library, too.
  • From what I have seen of your diary, it doesn't look like you are doing strength training beyond whatever might be included under your circuit training entries. I highly encourage you to start lifting heavy, because it will really help change your shape and the development of lean muscle will help your metabolism.
  • Mmmm, chocolate and peanut butter. First and foremost, get your diet under control because no amount of exercise will make up for a lousy diet. Then, add in both cardio and weights.
  • I think maintaining can be a bit more challenging because when I was in active weight loss mode, I had the motivation of my success. Week after week, I'd weigh in, post a loss, and get cheered on. That really helped! Plus, I was seeing myself shrink, had the thrill of being able to wear smaller sizes, etc. Then when you…
  • Great work! Isn't it amazing what lifting heavy can do for your shape? I've been using MFP since April 2011, so I am over 500 days. Like you, I started with just cardio and while that helped, nothing really changed my shape quite as much or as effectively as adding heavy lifting in with the cardio. Let Lorina be a lesson…
  • I like to mix organic baby greens with some Asian slaw and broccoli slaw mix, then add more veggies - whatever I have on hand - peppers, onions, tomatoes, carrots, chick peas. Then I either toss with a little of the Paul Newman sesame ginger and add peanuts and grilled chicken, or I will add spicy grilled shrimp, or for a…
  • Ditto to MichelleB (except the P90X part!). I've had great results with CLX and more with the CLX/TF hybrid. Love it, great stuff. I could never really master the tricep pushup when I was doing Jillian videos, but CLX has helped me to make tri pushups my bit*h.
