:p :p :p You need to post more B)

LOL that's government for you. You MUST post calorie counts! You can totally make them up and we won't have a clue and we have no idea what we're talking about... but you MUST post them. Maybe I'll make up numbers on my taxes next year.
-
I don't know... I think a lot of that was bro-science even back then. It was just four years ago, not forty!
-
e_j: Screw em. I'm serious. You have one body, and it's all yours. There's a great book by Nate Silver called "The Signal And The Noise". I'm not recommending the book to you, as it has nothing to do with weight loss or nutrition, but the concept is relevant here. Locate the signal and ignore the noise. The signal is the…

Exactly. Looks like Cheerios are back on the menu! :D

OK yes, that is it. The fiber is counted in the total carbs, but it is indigestible. Thanks everyone! Here's a link: http://www.foodiefiasco.com/how-to-correctly-count-calories/
-
I'm trying to find something online to confirm this, but can't find it. Hmm.
-
Oh is that what it is? You subtract fiber? I was taught incorrectly then! I'll keep that in mind and see if it resolves my counting issues!
-
Of course they do, but the math still doesn't add up. The numbers supplied are for a typical banana, and the macros do not add up to the total calorie count.
-
Several people have mentioned that bananas have about 100 calories. If you Google search it, you will find the same answer. But here's where I'm confused: Banana Total fat 0.4 g Total carbohydrate 27 g Protein 1.3 g According to my math: 0.4*9 + 27*4 + 1.3*4 = 116.8 calories I come across this issue with a lot of foods. Am…

There's a perfect response to that: "Neither do you." They don't know what THEY'RE missing by not being healthy and fit.
-
Wow, great! You should be really proud. It's great that you posted these - not just for your own affirmation, but also as an inspiration to others. Fantastic!!
-
-
That's the part that's so puzzling to me. When I see someone who is successful at something, I want to learn from them! This has happened to me many times - with weight loss and in other areas where I've gotten good at something. People see my success, and ask about it, but then criticize and dismiss anything I say. It's…
-
That's pretty harsh. The problems OP has stated are common across about 99.9% of the population. She'll get though it just fine.
-
OK gotcha B)
-
Yes these people are rude, but one thing I would recommend against is lying just to get them off your back. If you say you don't plan to lose any more weight, and then they see you drop 10 more pounds, that could legitimately look like you have some kind of eating disorder. Your lie could indicate that you are in denial,…
-
OK gotcha. Thought maybe he had a secret that we'd all love to know. B)
-
What do you mean by toning? You are changing the shape of the muscles? Making them harder? I'm not sure how this makes sense...
-
Well, I'm sure there are trainers and gyms that will do it, but be aware that the accuracy will... leave a lot to be desired. They will likely do it with calipers, which even when used by experts aren't very accurate. And chances are good that they won't be experts. What's the reason you want to know your body fat pct?…

How did he stay thin if he was over-eating??! :o amoynoodle, your thoughts are great and this might be nit-picking, but I want to add one comment for Ben: It doesn't have to be years before you are happy. Not by a long shot. There will be progress points all along the way that will make you happy! In fact, you should be…

Freezing Dan, I'd like to know where your information is coming from. The guys you bike with? A magazine? Website?
-
This has been done? Why wasn't I invited??
-
ninerbuff, great info, thank you. I'm just starting a recomp, and age is my biggest concern at 44 (male). Even with optimal conditions, at what rate can I expect to add muscle - if at all? I've recently been cutting while doing 5x5, but I've heard 5x5 is not a hypertrophy program. Do I need to switch to something else (or…

No qualms there. Just trying to come up with some new axioms to counter the ones I don't like. :p
-
Trolly troll is trolling! Eating adds weight. Exercise burns weight. Weight gain happens in the kitchen. #alltrue
-
I'd like to know why he said that :o
-
You don't have too - weight loose happens in teh kitchen!!; Just kidding. It sounds like you are moving a lot already. What is your reason for wanting to move more? That might change people's answers.
-
What does it mean that you've struggled all year, but have been in a deficit for two weeks? How are you tracking your calories, and how have you set your calorie goal? What is your height and current weight? Don't worry about a short term gain. But you've got to make sure you get the big picture right.
-
Glad you're thinking ahead glitzy. A time will arrive when you'll come to an understanding with the people who are skeptical of your plan long term, rather than picking fights with them. B) A lower TDEE will mean fewer McNuggets, or more exercise. You will find out one way or another, so, good for you if you start planning…
