Going in the wrong direction

I am having such a difficult time losing weight this year. I am carefully tracking what I eat and making sure I exercise 3-4 times per week, but my weight keeps going up, not down. The last two weeks have been a calorie deficit, but yet I have managed to gain 2.5 pounds!! I am so frustrated that I don't know what to do anymore.

Have you been weighing all of your food with a food scale? It is entirely possible that you are eating more than you think and are not actually in deficit.
Also If you have just started exercising and are experiencing muscle soreness you could be retaining water.0 -
Open your diary... you might think you're logging accurately but you might be 50 miles south from that.0

What does it mean that you've struggled all year, but have been in a deficit for two weeks?
How are you tracking your calories, and how have you set your calorie goal? What is your height and current weight?
Don't worry about a short term gain. But you've got to make sure you get the big picture right.0
