Hello all fellow Pennsylvanians! I'm not currently living in PA, but I'm from north central PA!

That is awesome! Being able to do an unmodified pushup is one of my goals!

Wow! Amazing job!

Hi, another grad student. I'm in my 3rd year of a PhD program. I managed to lose the weight I've gained since starting grad school, but now I'm working to lose the weight I gained in undergrad. It's a slow battle. For me, it meant an entire lifestyle overhaul, specifically doing my best to maintain a regular schedule. My…

I'm 25 (26 in 10 days!), and looking to lose about 30 more pounds. Feel free to add me!

Congratulations! Under-growing clothing is one of the best NSVs!

Excedrin and some other over the counter meds also have caffeine, so you don't necessarily need to get them from a doctor. You can also get plain old caffeine pills (like NoDoz) or drink tea or coffee.

I bought one from Costco but returned it after a few uses. It seemed to work fine - though I didn't put ice in my smoothies, so I can't comment on that. I was making green smoothies, and the amount of spinach I was putting in the cup was too large, so I returned the bullet and got a full-sized blender instead.

I often eat a salad because it doesn't make me feel too full and sleepy after lunch. Here's a great way to start making salads: http://www.canyoustayfordinner.com/2011/12/14/how-to-make-a-delicious-400-calorie-salad Regarding what to do with lettuce to keep it from going bad - I leave the lettuce on the bunch until I'm…

Hi! I'm a 3rd year PhD student in Sociology. I'm taking two classes this spring - demographic techniques and advanced social statistics. I'm almost done with courses!
-
Hi! Welcome! I'm sending a friend request because I am also fairly new to the site and could also use the support!

Lately I've been choosing among these items if I'm hungry after lunch: A banana (with natural peanut butter if I'm especially hungry). A mug of warm tea just to be sure that I'm not thirsty. Also, warm liquids make you feel more full. Greek yogurt. An orange.

Oh, I'm May 26 :)

My semester starts on the 25th. I'm not looking forward to the stress that school brings. Grad school is tiring! Regarding water bottles: my roommate has two Vapur water bottles and she hasn't had any problems with it.

Congratulations! I don't do New Years resolutions, but it occurred to me (after reading your post) that if I were to have a resolution, it would be to track my food/exercise on MFP daily. Committing to always being vigilant about my lifestyle choices seems like a great way to achieve progress. Thanks for the inspiration :)

I'm 5'9 and I never wear heels. I've always been tall and have never had a boyfriend that was taller than I am, so I've never bothered with heels. Flats all the way!

Bump again. I also would like to know.

Glad you asked this, as I am also considering the Polar FT7.

Hi! I'm Lori and I'm getting married on May 26. I'm resistant to setting a weight loss goal for my wedding day because I'm afraid that once the wedding is over, I'll stop working as hard to lose weight. Instead, I have a longer term goal of trying to eat healthier and lose the weight I've packed on over the past 5 years...…

I also attend University of Maryland-College Park. I'm a 3rd year grad student in the Sociology department focusing on demography.

I also am about 5'9 and my final goal weights are about the same!

I have the Paragard and I've had it for 2 years now. When I got it, I was 23 and never had children (and still don't). Some doctors are reluctant to give IUDs to childless women, something to do with the size of the uterus pre-birth. When you go in for a consultation, the doctor should discuss this with you. If they deny…

Hey.... I know you!

Hmm, I meant to reply directly to someone else with this message, clearly I'm still new here. Anyway, to answer the OP - I, too, love beer. And I like unfiltered wheat beers, good heavy (but not hoppy) ales, or ciders. They can all have 200+ calories. But, as the others have mentioned, it's ridiculous to completely cut out…

I LOVE Breckenridge Vanilla Porter. I've tried a few other Breckenridge beers, and they're good, but the vanilla porter is best.

Lock Haven! Yay for a fellow-Pennsylvanian!

I agree, what a great idea! Who doesn't like writing lists? 1. Mid-20s, born and raised in Central PA, but live in the DC metro area for about 3 years now. 2. Currently pursuing a PhD in Sociology/Demography & interning as a statistician. 3. Engaged to be married in May, 2012. 4. I love food and I love to cook. This works…

Greetings, all! I'm turning 26 later this month. I'm a 3rd year graduate student in a PhD program. I'm getting married May 26, 2012. While slimming down by my wedding day motivation to start losing weight sooner rather than later, it is not my primary motivation, so I'm avoiding anything that is geared toward brides. I've…
