  • I loved my polar heart rate monitor too, until the battery went out. Hopefully you won't make the same mistake as me, I replaced the battery at a local shop and the monitor has not worked since. :grumble: Have fun with it!
  • I was in the same situation last week and discovered the best dish ever! I've been craving this ever since, Mahi Mahi fish tacos. It was simply chunks of fish in a tomato broth with some avocado and veggies on the side. Very very good, and super healthy. Hope you like fish.
  • every time you think of going to get a piece, think about how much exercise you'd need to do to get rid of it- :noway: it's definitely not worth it!
  • I just purchased Jillian Michaels book and signed up for her website and nowhere does she advocate for eating your exercise calories. Sorry, I know this will create quite a stir here on MFP, don't shoot the messenger please. :flowerforyou: Here's what she says about caloric intake: Her book "Making the Cut" recommends you…
  • That is so awesome! Doesn't it feel good to see the results of your hard work? I had a small victory today too, I was able to fit into my previously too tight pants-Yeah:happy: Keep up the good work!
  • I've been working with a trainer for a while now, he has me lift a lot of weights, for example 10lbs (each hand) overhead press, 20lbs overhead while lunging etc.. I've mentioned several times to him that I do NOT want to bulk up, and each time he tells me that it is very hard for women to bulk up b/c of low levels of…
  • Don't be too hard on yourself, I just ate about 3 serving of birthday cake last night, the whole time I was telling myself to stop. BUT, guess what I did today? I made myself go to the food log and enter it, just like it was, and I worked out really hard today. If you can promise yourself that you will be accountable for…
  • My trainer will have me do a superset, Lets say 15 reps of cable presses, then immediately 15 reps of cable pulls, so I am working my chest muscles, then my back muscles. It is pretty tiring, then 1 minute rest, then additional set and so on. I've found the rest to be pretty important b/c it is really exhausting. If it's…
  • YES! Not to brag, but thats my most improved area since starting to work out a few months ago. I've been working with a personal trainer and I no longer feel ashamed to wear sleevless shirts! Here's what he has me do a lot of: Cable machine chest presses and pulls, all 3 sets of 15 with 1 minute rest. Push ups, press ups,…
  • Hi! Squats and lunges, forward, sideways and backwards all work great. I've been doing them for the past few months, 3 sets of 15, along with other resistance type exercises and my thighs have gone from flabby to firm. It doesn't take long at all. Oh by the way, they really get your heartrate going too, so you're getting…
  • Yes, I worked with a trainer for about 3 months last year, and just started up again. There was a lot of value in using him, I became very toned and strong and never missed a workout because of the financial commitment. I worked out 5 days a week, 3 cardio and 2 strength training and tracked my calories on this site. That…
  • Welcome back! What a beautiful baby!! Don't worry that baby weight will be gone before you know it. Just remember, you knew how to lose it last year, you know how to do it now:smile: I just rejoined from the summer and am back on track too. Good luck, enjoy your little one:happy:
  • As hard as it is to go through, that hungry feeling is a sign that you are losing weight. Your body did not consume enough calories today to sustain itself, so it is literally feed off of itself -burn baby burn and eating away at those extra fat stores. I know it is hard to go through, but I always welcome it b/c I know it…
  • Welcome and congrats for taking such positive steps towards getting healthier! I did WW too, but actually have found this site more helpful. Hope MFP helps you reach your goals.

  • I can not wait for it to start again. I don't care how much of a drama it is, I LOVE IT!!
  • thanks for your concern, the EKG was normal. The doc has set me up for an echocardiograph? on thursday, to check out heart anatomy/structure, and I will have to wear a 30 day heart monitor so that we can catch the event when it happens. Don't know how well that will work, considering that I cant wait to take off that darn…
  • Don't give up- You will be so mad at yourself if you do! Remember how great you felt when you started meeting your goals? You can do it, it just takes time. Remember, it takes a long time to put it on and just as long to take it off. My son is five and I am finally at my prepregnancy weight! You can do it.
  • thanks for the feedback guys, I didn't have any symptoms except for racing heart. I am headed to the doc in an hour for an EKG, hopefully with good results.
  • Hi All! I don't usually publish my health issues with others, but would really like to know if anyone else has had this happen to them. I was towards the end of my workout yesterday, doing strength training at a moderate intensity (squats, leg press) when I suddenly felt my pulse racing. I looked down at my heart rate…
  • Hi, My son suffered from chronic constipation, he would only go once a week and it was a very painful event. He was prescribed Miralax, which is a powdered substance that has no flavor. We would mix it in his water/juice. It worked very well. He has outgrown the problem, but I just noticed that Miralax does not require a…
  • My son screamed in horror every time his hair was cut, since his first cut until about age 3. I dreaded our trips to the salon! He is 5 now and has outgrown that awful phase. Unfortunately I did not find any tricks that helped. One thing to keep in mind, maybe to understand what is going on a little more-some children and…
  • Thanks guys, I'm going to clear out my closet right now!
  • Okay, I'm looking at my closet and trying to figure out what to do with those fat pants that are now too big. They are just one size up from my current size. Should I give them away, or should they stay in the closet one more year, just in case?
  • try popping a mint into your mouth when you feel like eating the sweets. It helps occupy your mouth, and gives you a taste that doesn't work well with sweets. Hope this helps!
  • Thats Great! Congrats. Doesn't it feel great to overcome those exercise obstacles we never think we can reach? It just keeps getting better and better! I started out with a trainer 3 months ago and have never felt more fit in my life. Now I just need to lose the weight! Keep up the good work.
  • The polar heart rate monitor (f4 model) is great. It will tell you exactly how many calories you burn while wearing it. The only downside is you have to get used to wearing the strap around your chest. If you are looking for true accuracy, I would recommend a heart rate monitor. I bought mine on ebay for around 75.00.
