I got my pink polar F6 Heart Monitor in today! I worked out with it for the first time, and was able to manage all my stats! I'm 45% fat, is that correct!? OMG. lol.

I logged in my stats on my exercise log, feel free to look at it. I burned 500 calories today. I realized that the machine has been a little off on my calorie count. I guess the machine does the average person calorie count. But the heart monitor allowed me to put all my personal info like age, height, weight etc and calculated it a little more accuratly. But, hey, I'll take 500 calories.

It allows me to store ALL of my workouts! AWESOME!

I have a F11 and I love it. The only thing I didn't like when I first strated using it was that it registers calories burned WAY lower than my old HRM or machines do, but I feel like it's more accurate so I know what I'm really burning. They're a great investment.

    I have a pink one.

It tells me calories, heart reate, average heart rate, max heart rate, waterproof (you can swim in it), has memory so you can store your previous workouts. Gives you a heart rate zone and tells you when your out of your heart rate zone.

My trainer explained to me how important heart rate is when you workout. When your heart is in it's target range it burns much more fat and calories.

Oh, and it has a light?

I got mine brand new for 99 dollars and free shipping on ebay from this seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280381376150&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Awesome! thanks for the link and details! Did your trainer tell you to stay withing a certain high and low heartrate for fat burniing? or just not go to high ?

My high is 182. So, my high isn't going to be the same as your high. He said to try to stay on the high half of my range. My range is 165-182. I try my hardest to get to 175 or so, but's hard to stay there.
  • I loved my polar heart rate monitor too, until the battery went out. Hopefully you won't make the same mistake as me, I replaced the battery at a local shop and the monitor has not worked since. :grumble:

    Have fun with it!

So when it goes out, what should I do? Are you talking about the watch or the piece that goes on the chest?
  • I honestly don't think your fat percent is right. 45% NO WAY I saw your pictures on your page you look great. I have had some troubl with fat percent checkers before. I was not 45% when I weighed 250. I bought one a couple of months ago I weighed 190 and it said I was like 50% body fat.

When I get home I'm going to look in the manual to see about that.

I have been considering buying a HRM because I do not trust what the machines are telling me. I have also been very curious about when people post their calories burned and it seems so high. I run for an hour and am still only around 700 calories burned. I have seen people posting that they burn 1400+ calories in a work out. Do people really work out for hours a day? Or how does that work. I feel that when I run a 9 minute mile I'm working pretty hard. Am I burning more than I think I am? Maybe I should just get the HRM.

I'm pretty sure it means that 45% of the calories you burned during that workout was from fat.

I think that sounds more accurate that you're burning about 700 cals. I run 5 miles at a bout 8.5 minute mile and my HRM says I burn about 500ish calories, which sounds about right. I think that if people are putting 1400 calories they may be overestimating or they may be working out more or maybe they burn more calories because of their HR level. I"m not sure, though. :ohwell:

Completly agree that I think people are overestimating their calories burned. I worked out for two hours on saturday only burned about 1000 calories. My workout was fast paced too, hard workout, wasn't slacking.

If you are really interested in your calories go for a heart monitor, it helps.
