  • We could always start a list of non-drinking things to do. 1) Go to the movies 2) ....
  • So sorry for your loss. I can't begin to imagine that pain. It sounds like you're doing the right thing - back at the gym and trying to keep your health in check. Taking it one day at a time is all you can keep on doing. I have lost both my parents in the last 2 years, amongst some other significant people. I have a better…
  • Biggest win for me this week is to stop tracking calories burned! Game changing. Feel free to add. In a fat loss phase until mid Feb.
  • Hey! CW: 64kgish GW: 60kg GW by end December: 62kg Regular exercise No booze No exercise calories tracking Full accountability for every bite Please feel free to add me. Access to diary to see what I am doing for weight loss. One month. Let's go!!!! (I have a further month after that before going into a 6 week maintenance…
  • Hey! So glad I came across this thread. I'm not drinking because I become an idiot when I do (lol) and a pleasant side effect of sobriety is that I am more likely to stick to my diet and am losing weight. Please add me if you want a sober diet buddy and of course, I will be following this chat too.
  • Hi Add me if you like; Mid 30s Female Active - run, yoga, weights, gym Following 1400cal diet plus exercise cals Consistent Jess
  • Feel free to add me. I am off to the doctor this week to test for prediabetes. Reading "the 8 week blood sugar diet" at present.
  • Super advice and motivation - thank you all. Must keep at it. Long haul.
  • Hey, I mean is my body getting ready to lose 2lbs next week. As for the exact loss I'll be checking in tomorrow but it's good to hear half a pound is reasonable, as much as I'd hoped for more. Thanks
  • I'm so glad you mentioned booze...it's on my mind. I've had a few days on it and wanted to be "good" today but for the reasons you've mentioned, want to give it a little rest. It's hard though because everyone is being "merry" and that's normally my job.... I'm just don't see change happening if I keep alcohol in my…
  • I'm feeling the love for an increase in protein over the holidays - great idea. I am allowing myself anything as long as it stays within my calorie range. I've upped it to "maintenance" and with my usual exercise, this allows for a lot / enough of food/drink. In a nutshell my head has given up on losing over Christmas, and…
  • Hi, I'm Jessica. 34, married, mum to two young girls. I generallly have no issue being active - love long distance running, going to the gym etc but eat a lot and drink even more around this time of year. I'm also hoping to stay within a reasonable amount of calories and exercise everyday, bar Christmas Day. Expect to see…
  • I had my gait tested and bought better shoes and as a result, my knee didn't hurt anything like it did before! Worth the money!
  • There is a thing such as free gait analysis? Not where I live....£15 to get it done or free if you buy the shoes from the running store....and besides - I'm not that mean. I didn't want to scrimp on this pair but my current shoes are totally broken and I am so tight on cash I was hoping I could buy a cheaper pair, but…
  • Distance.
  • You look amazing. Well done!
  • Incredible! Well done. Good luck with the last 12%
  • Just "Wow"! You are amazing. What an achievement. Well done!
  • Amazing! Well done!!!!!
  • Don't for a second measure your worth by his standards. You are perfect and his utterly disastrous and despicable decision is no reflection on just how amazing your life can still be. Keep punching through the storm and the sun will come out again!
  • You mentioned that you did 8 miles slowly only the other weekend - that's great. Work on getting up to 10miles before race day and then give it your best shot. You can do it. Don't worry about your pace - any finish will be a PB for you. Enjoy the journey and train more wisely next time. Good luck!!!!!
  • Hi, I struggle with that too - if you'd like to add me we could chat off the main thread. I'm fighting it everyday and am wanting to win!
  • Gummi bears worked a treat. Thanks all :)
  • There will be water stands on race day but in training I haven't run for more than 90 mins so haven't been thirsty - it's also very cold so I do have an advantage there. I need my hands free. I'll have to rethink the water thing in summer.
  • Thanks for all your replies. Have ordered sports beans to save on carrying water with me. Have also ordered a FlipBelt...and I am bizarrely excited!!! Going to test them both out on my long run this weekend. I don't think I'll bother with gels at all. Depending on how the sports beans go down, I may try jelly sweets or…
  • I'm sure I'd choke on a starburst - just my luck!
  • Helpful Link. Much appreciated, thank you.
  • Thanks for all your replies. I ran a couple of times whilst sick and suffered in the evening for it. In the end I gave myself 4 days "off" and although it was frustrating, my body needed a rest. I have the remnants of a cough now but I am able to run again - albeit not at 100%.
  • In my experience, restricting only leads to more bingeing - bingeing on the very foods I am trying to avoid - or even worse....I binge on anything until I have the one thing I have been craving. It is a horrible cycle, one that I am deeply in. If I could give myself advice, it would be 1) start a diary to "write it out"…
  • Ditto. Back on the band wagon today. Not going to listen to other people anymore - positive or negative!
