I'm seeing this now, but never had an issue in 2016. The diary deletes added exercise seconds after it's entered. Was there ever a fix for this?

If calorie counting long term is unhealthy, I'm in a world of hurt. I've been tracking since May of 2011, so coming up on 8 years. It's not for weight control, as I've never been overweight in my life. I'm actually rather good at intuitive eating. And I still intuitively eat. I eat when I'm hungry and what I'm hungry for,…

5' 4.75" 115 lbs 33-25-35 I used to stay in the 107 to 112 range before I started weight lifting many years ago. Now I usually stay between 114 and 120 lb. I feel fine at any of those, but I don't think I'd be okay to drop into that lower range since I've added some muscle.

I've read through some of this thread, not all of it, but I wanted to go back to the OP, and the premises built by the debate partner. 1, "emphasis on the aesthetic appearance of one's body causes psychological harm to others who cannot achieve, let's say, chiseled abs or larger chest muscles" I disagree that emphasis on…

I was actually reading this thread just to see if anyone had posted a link to this short story. http://www.tnellen.com/cybereng/harrison.html

I tracked all through my pregnancy (and breastfeeding after). It really helped keep track of carbs when I found out I had gestational diabetes. Anyhow. I wasn't using mfp for weight control, just measuring how I ate. I basically ate at just above maintenance for the first trimester (and put on just under 5 lbs). In the 2nd…

This is a really interesting thread, but I'm not sure I'm understanding it entirely. Also, this may not be exactly related, but I'd been doing the same lifting program for ~5 years, just four main lifts bench, ohp, squat, and deadlift, going to failure every session except for deloading week. While I continued to see very…

Also, my GD was pretty mild. Carb timing was plenty to keep it in check. I didn't have to take shots or anything.

I did when I had it. The diabetes nutrition class that my doctor recommended (that was not it turns out covered by my insurance) basically just said eat about 6 times a day with no more than 15 g of carbs per meal, and at least two hours between each 15 g carb serving. That was pretty easy to monitor with mfp, and it…

I just saw that this was a revived thread, but I'd already skimmed all the replies, so I thought I'd go ahead and share my anecdote. My sister has a milk "allergy" (maybe more sensitivity? I'm not sure). She is three years older than me, and I remember having to avoid her in order to not get beat up after she'd had any…

Yeah, my personal record on squats is all of 150 lbs, so there's that. I wouldn't trust that thing with 415, but I'm pretty sure that wood will rot before I can squat that amount of weight. I did see a whole lot of better designs for DIY squat racks when I googled, so you might find something that would hold that, but this…

While I agree with the general theme of supporting improvements, you also bring up an interesting point about what qualifies as 'improvement'. I've met with resistance from my husband when I wanted to reduce a vice (drinking). He seemed to be worried that I would shame his drinking, which I haven't done. He drinks…

Since you already have a crazy schedule, a DIY project may be out of reach, but if not, you could build your own squat rack for your home gym on the cheap. I put this guy together years ago, and my lifting partners and I have used it every week for years: I had saved the link for the original site where I found the…

I have also tracked for a number of years. The first few without a food scale and the last 4+ years with a food scale. I would estimate by comparing the "pre-food scale" years to the "food scale always used" years that I was underestimating my intake before using a food scale by 300 or 400 calories a day. That's an…

Ah, yeah, that is a good question. I was assuming that they were basing it off of data that showed some correspondence between those alleles and weight. From what I understand, the point of the company is less about selling customers like myself reports and more about data mining so that more may be learned about links…

Sorry, but... You worked for "one of those DNA companies," but you don't understand what a variant is? Were you, what, cleaning staff? accountant? Or did you just mean you don't know what specific variants those 700 that related to weight predisposition that they looked at are? Because I don't either, I'm just starting to…

Just for the sake of argument (this is on the debate forum, after all), if someone tested negatively for a variant of a gene that would predispose them to a particular cancer, and then he or she got that cancer, that wouldn't actually make the genetic test wrong. They still don't have that gene variant. And that is…

I love chiming in on the "naturally thin" posts, just to say that after being "naturally thin" for years, and having folks tell me "you'll be fat some day when you [get old/have kids/blah blah blah]," "you can't eat that way forever," and (accurately) "you have no idea what you're eating." Since "they" were right on that…

Replacing the battery was the first thing I did. I ended up just buying a new scale.
-
Just to eliminate any other variables, you may want to double check your electronic food scale. Put something of a known weight on it and make sure the reading makes sense. I just had to replace my scale. I caught the error quickly because I was weighing a meal that I eat often and three different components in a row came…

Same On topic: I ate some of my boss's homemade venison summer sausage this morning, and just logged the usda entry. I'm sure it's close enough.

I'm just under 5'5" (actually 5'4.75"), 117 lbs, and 32 years old. My experimentally determined maintenance is about 1950 calories per day. I lift weights twice a week and have started to throw in some body weight accessories. One thing that really helped me nail down my TDEE more accurately was a step counter. If you do a…
