  • My food scale is my greatest tool. @PinkyPan1 - can you tell us what that scale is called? Would be perfect for travel! Thanks ...
  • Exercise, increasing my excercise is my focus this month and hopefully this year. Walking and yoga are my targets for January.
  • I use a straw to prevent it getting to my teeth. I have read that it helps stabilize blood sugar, which is why I take it as one small part of my overall eating plan. See for example https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/6-proven-health-benefits-of-apple-cider-vinegar#section4
  • Ugh, the mirror - that's something I try to avoid as it only depresses and discourages me. This forum has really helped me to hang in and not give up. My food scale continues to be my best tool.
  • Merry Xmas to all who are celebrating today! We are taking it easy in a hotel near my father's assisted living. We've had a beautiful snowfall to make it really look like a winter wonderland. We also have a heated pool and hot tub to enjoy while we look out at the snow ;) ~ Kathy
  • Wow @retirehappy - you are really going great guns, in your resettling project and in your weight loss. Hope you will be finding time to take it easy today! ~ Kathy
  • Joellen, glad to hear you are back in your house and HOPEFULLY (1) that steps guy actually did show up and (2) you are back in your own bed! It is so stressful doing any kind of renovation, and especially when you have to be out of your house for that length of time. Marian, you have been doing so well on so many days -…
  • Acupuncture. Tendinitis in arms & fingers and ultimately a painful trigger thumb. Tried every type of traditional treatment, short of surgery. None of it helped and some of it actually made it worse. After two years of suffering I gave in to friends' suggestions to try acupuncture. After the first session I could move my…
  • I second the motion to rent first and try them. I love cross country skiing but, I went snow shoeing just once. Hated it. It's a very unnatural gait you have to use... I walked about twenty steps and I was exhausted. So count me in the "never again" category. Hopefully you will enjoy it more than I did.
  • The more consistent I am getting daily exercise, the less stress gets to me.
  • @OConnell5483 - beautifully said! And congrats on your good health, may you be blessed with many more years of same!
  • Joell, sounds like a great vacation spot you are headed to --- especially the heated pool and hot tub! December is looking like it is going to be extremely stressful... *sigh* just too much going on and very little of it any fun. This, of course, is no excuse for eating out of control. I am setting a new goal for this…
  • Congrats on meeting your November goal, Marian! See you over in December... ~ Kathy
  • I admire your Thanksgiving success, Joell. I did have desserts which I shouldn't eat at all, but fortunately most of the meal was low carb. My walking has been better some days than others, but I believe I have gotten out for at least a short walk every day. Still haven't made it to the Y, so that goal remains and only two…
  • Thank you for this, @themedalist : "If you spend 15 minutes a day decluttering your house you will have spent 91 hours a year decluttering and organizing spaces in your house. Over 2 full time weeks! THAT’S the power that little actions and changes can have on our lives when we repeat them over and over again. When we make…
  • I did pretty well in October... even had a streak of writing down all my food every day, which I have lost at the moment. As for walking, I did get in a walk almost every day in October. November has been a rough start - a lot of travelling and a lot of stress! Just a very hectic time in my life. However, I have continued…
  • Oh yeah, the more carbs, the more hunger.
  • Finally got around to checking out the 333 project. I made a note to read more detail later but, no problem for me - I am willing to be I already regularly wear 33 items or less. Granted, it came about because I: (1) lost a lot of weight (2) donated my "fat" clothes (3) gained back most of the weight I lost Therefore, I…
  • Wow - we are continuing with warmer temps, still up into the high 60's during the day... it has been such a warm fall. Our tree colors were dull this year as a result. We've had one "cold" period, just a couple of days, and some trees turned but many are still green. I'm grateful for the extended season just because we…
  • @prgirl39mfp - what great timing that was; now you will be able to be a source of support for your friend. May she experience complete healing and renewal.
  • Wonder Woman, indeed! So very inspiring and yes, it's all about keeping on, leaving the missteps behind and moving forward. Just. Don't. Quit. <3
  • Just last week my husband and I took a day to go and see a family member's new condo. We don't get to see her enough except at holidays and just wanted some one-on-one with her, outside the family gathering context. It was 1 - 1/2 hours one way, but well worth the drive. We had a lovely time and you know, even with someone…
  • It works for me, absolutely - the only catch is, I do find it hard to "stay on the wagon." I feel best when I eat low carb, and I have been experimenting with mixing in some fasting days too. I was thinking of doing it anyway but, got a push from the Universe when I came down with some serious digestive issues. So now I am…
  • All great, thanks so much for continuing this great posting!
  • And, even 10 minutes of walking is very beneficial if it happens immediately after a meal ... helps keep blood sugars level from what I understand. My doctor told me I should try to walk after every meal if at all possible. Huh, now there is a goal to aspire to...
  • ok, halfway to one of my new goals: I made it into the pool at a hotel yesterday and did 40 minutes of water exercises. Felt so good! Now I have to get myself over to my local YMCA and get in a water class... trying to keep the momentum going by doing it this week! Not getting 30 minutes of walking every day, but SOME…
