  • In my experience, it's not likely at all. For about the first year, I ate by schedule because I didn't really get hungry. Once the hunger actually starts kicking in though, it's back to normal and you have to be super conscientious of your eating.
  • For flavor, I have always loved Cellucor cinnamon swirl and peanut butter marshmallow, but my friend loves and recommends the Vega cold brew coffee flavor so I will be trying that!
  • I say this all the time but I REALLY need to up my exercise and plan better for weekends. I have some friends in the same boat and we agreed to be each other's support system, so between them and this group I am hoping to be more accountable for these things.
  • I get all of this. I have had a super challenging week involving a very toxic friendship I had to end, and there's always a big jar of chocolates at our receptionist's desk at work, and I practically face planted into it. Not the best solution, but I logged it and the numbers didn't devastate me. But still... I already…
  • This weekend I went off the rails a bit. I had dinner with friends Saturday and Father's Day dinner with friends yesterday. I ate more sugar and carbs than normal, and when I do that, I really feel it. This morning I dragged my butt to the gym before 5 am to get my week off to a good start, and I am about to pre-log my…
  • So much this, which is why I had counseling before surgery and I have continued it ever since, and staying on track is STILL a challenge. Counseling is another tool that I know I need.
  • Lorna Jane! Also, I like Girlfriend Collective and they make their leggings out of recycled materials. Love a green company!
  • @Samquentin thanks for posting this, I am over 5 years out and it's good to have this reminder!! The only thing I can't do is breakfast - I cannot eat that soon after I wake up. I might have a protein drink or some almond milk, but eating breakfast is rare for me!!!

  • I'd rather give up something else than creamer in my coffee. At work I use a little 1/2 and 1/2, at home I have a Nespresso and use almond milk in my frother, and I use a natural zero calorie sweetener that's made from kabocha squash.
  • I had sleeve surgery - like the previous poster said, try measuring in ounces. One ounce =2 tablespoons usually, so you can measure and log based on that.
  • This. I go to Disneyland fairly regularly and they have gotten much better about having healthier options available. That said, I HAVE to get a corn dog every time I go because they are delicious.

  • Happy June!!! My challenges this month will be working on improving my eating/logging on weekends, and grazing. I do great during the week - I go to the gym before work, I prep my meals, log them, but on weekends, I don't plan well at all. I don't keep anything "bad" in the house, but when I have no schedule or plan the…
  • I feel your pain! I know people say menopause in and of itself doesn't/shouldn't cause weight gain, but I did gain weight going through menopause because I fell out of my good habits and routines. I have felt like crap for close to two years, the hot flashes were so bad at one point they pretty much crushed my spirit, I…
  • I survived a 4 day weekend! The main thing for me was to be prepared. I have also been going to the gym consistently for over 3 weeks now and I kept to my routine over the weekend. I went to a bbq yesterday but I was able to do well, I ate meat and grilled veggies (and one small tortilla which was not the end of the…
  • Same here!!!!
  • Good luck tomorrow!!!
  • I did really well with my eating over the weekend, which is when I tend to go off the rails. I went to a brunch yesterday at a Cuban restaurant that had the most amazing brunch buffet I have seen, and fortunately they had a LOT of great high protein and low carb options. I did have three bites of dessert, but I was totally…
  • This has totally been my experience. I still have the restriction, fortunately, and when I eat regular meals it's still one of my checks and balances, but the restriction isn't effective in controlling grazing (in my case). It's been a struggle I have to admit. I honestly don't get as hungry when I don't graze, and I do…
  • The snackiness sneaks up on you!!
  • Happy May! Here is my jumping off point for the month, but just like me, it's a work in progress and is subject to change  * Log everything I eat - still not great at this * Plan for weekends so I don't go off track * Some kind of exercise 5 times a week * Use my standing desk at work more. I have it and I rarely…
  • From what I have been told, no, however after your stomach heals post surgery you will be able to eat a bit more, and for me personally, I can consume a slightly larger quantity of soft or liquid type foods, like soup, or yogurt. I am over 5 years post surgery and I cannot eat the same amounts of food as I could prior to…
  • SO much this - I was actually talking about this with my therapist last week. I really struggle with this!
  • Check out the group I linked above - https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/637-gastric-bypass-vsg-lapband There are people at all stages of pre- and post-surgery and they will tell you honestly everything they have gone through, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I think you will get more informed answers from people…
  • My company has a yoga instructor come in twice a week at lunch time. I had been taking advantage of it, but with my regain and shoulder issues I stopped going. My other coworker had stopped going too, but we just made a pact that we will both go for the month of May. As long as my shoulder holds up, I am in!
  • Yesterday was a challenge, I fell off the wagon hard. I had Easter dinner with friends but I am Jewish so I made Passover-friendly desserts. I practically face planted in the matzoh toffee and apple cake because it was delicious, but I left all the leftovers with my friends. When I got home I threw out the leftover matzoh,…
  • How lengthy of a hiatus? My periods just stopped over two years ago and since then nothing but the hot flashes.
  • My gyno told me that the frequency and duration of my cycle would gradually decrease, that it isn't normal for your cycle to just stop, but that's exactly what happened to me. I am hoping I don't get surprised at some point but then again I wouldn't be too surprised if that happened!
  • This reminds me of the line from The Devil Wears Prada - "I'm just one stomach flu away from my goal weight" lol
  • Hi, you might want to try this group for support, it's members are people who have been through surgery or are thinking about going through it, there are probably more people there in your same situation than the general message boards - https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/637-gastric-bypass-vsg-lapband
  • Happy Monday everyone! My weekend went better for the most part, I planned meals and exercised, wasn't until I went to the O.C. swap meet with a friend and had a run in with some kettle korn that I tripped up a bit. It wasn't the worst thing I could have done and I'm not beating myself up over it. I do see how planning on…
