Thanks for the support regarding the antidepressants and counselling, everybody. It is very much appreciated.

Incredible work, fella! Well done! What's your routine and diet?

What a horrible bully! People who are overweight should be APPLAUDED for taking the first step to enter what will be an initially intimidating environment. Welcome them and support them at every turn. The person who posted that pic has abused her position and is the reason why there needs to be a body positivity movement…

Thank you so much.

Thank you so much. Go for it on your test!

I confess that I'm back on Fluoxetine, been referred for counselling and I've registered with a local self-help group while I'm on the waiting list. It seems that I have far from shaken off my feelings of low self worth and my need for external validation. I still have a lot of work to do. My now ex wants to remain friends…

What am I even talking about? Come now, you said in one of your previous posts that you are aware of Jes Baker - so such feigning of ignorance is disingenuous at best (like most of your posts in this thread) I'll post some examples, From Ms. Baker herself. Exhibit A -…

Don't forget that the guy has to be tall and ripped, too. Fat guys are too gross to honour her curves! An acceptance movement that doesn't even extend to both sexes is no acceptance movement.

Ignore the fat activist trolls, both on reddit AND in this thread. You look AMAZING and can be proud of the CONSISTENT effort and discipline that you have exerted in order to achieve your goals!

Google those names and the rest will follow....

You're right. Thank you!

Thank you!

You are exactly right in your post (+1 like from me!) However, the fat acceptance movement DOES give out a message of "Get fat, it's awesome" and "skinny sucks." You only need to look at the work of Tess Holliday, Virgie Tovar, Ragen Chastain, Kath Read, Kelly Jean Drinkwater and other such activists to see this.

This thread makes me so glad that I converted my back room into a gym so I can train at home!

I confess that I can't ever be with anybody. I just split with my girlfriend yesterday after four months together. Four years on POF/Tinder/OKC being bombarded with hate from women over my height (I'm only 5ft 8 - eww!) and appearance has left me with a deep-rooted belief that I am totally unlovable and un****able. I drove…

Managed a hefty chest workout in this heat......and reached my 1000 day streak!

I can't be bothered repeating myself regarding the recent posts tackling the skinny shaming and double standards surrounding it, so I'll just quote one of my posts from earlier in the thread.

Health at every size morphed into healthcare at every salary. Holy thread derailment, Batman!
-
It is a joke, but it's making a point by showing a mirror image of the demands of fat activists.

The bullying of actress Sarah Hyland is the reason why I'm not on board with fat acceptance or so-called body positivity. Kidney displasia and the resulting weight loss are 'thin privilege' and 'pro-ana' apparently. I'll NEVER accept an ideology that embraces such bullying encased in bitterness and jealousy. They should be…

True enough, the memes are pretty much fictional drawings or staged photoshoots.
-
Yet all of their "real men will love every inch" pics and memes ALWAYS show them depicted in an embrace with a fit, athletic guy. "You have to accept us as gorgeous, but fat men? Ewwwww!" A blatant double standard that reeks of entitlement.
-
I think that the thread title is a bit of a misnomer. It should be more of "I don't support what some aspects of the fat acceptance/plus size movement are turning it into" rather than a refusal to support ANY facet of it at all. There are many posters on here who genuinely aren't aware of the ramblings of Virgie Tovar,…

Exactly. Any notion of weight loss is considered "giving in to their internalised fatphobia" and is seen as an act of treachery against their ranks.

Crabs in a bucket mentality. Summed up perfectly.

I had the same thing when I lost weight, in fact I had the people who used to tease me for being fat telling me that I needed to eat more. It was almost as if me being overweight gave them a sense of superiority over me and losing weight robbed them of that.

I support every human's right to feel comfortable in their own skin regardless of weight, height, race, faith, gender, sexual orientation, health, disability, eye colour, hair colour, teeth straightness, favourite sports team etc. I don't support the fat acceptance movement - and the same rhetoric espoused by the fat…
