Trader Joe's jicama sticks, celery and carrot sticks dipped in hummus, many salads with a hard-boiled egg, lots of apples, fish like ahi tuna, salmon or halibut, Outshine fruit bars, veggie chips (if I have to cheat), fat-free half and half in my coffee, Asian hot and sour soup, veggie omelets and sometimes shrimp or…

Taking a fat blocker while on a high-fat diet would completely defeat the purpose. I think you will need to do one thing or the other. We were all trained to think fats are bad for you. Some research is suggesting that this is not the case. I do not know the correct answer because I think it depends on who is doing the…

My daughter was in the same position as you. She has finally gone fully keto and has lost 10 pounds in about a month. She is very active working out, hiking and some running. Her comment was that she has tried cutting fats and done most of the things that they used to say were bad for you and it's time to do something…

Oh, I totally am! I'm logging on both and being very vigilant. I'm making sure I have a deficit every day. I weigh and log on MFP, but I also went on WW and I log on that app, too. But the keto people are having such good results on keto and it put me over my point (and probably fat calorie limits on MFP). I guess I will…

I haven't been doing that. Good idea. Thanks!

I found some recipes on Pinterest for different ways you can stuff spaghetti squash. https://peasandcrayons.com/2016/12/7-ways-to-stuff-a-spaghetti-squash.html I made a recipe last week where you cut it in half and cook it. Scoop all of the squash out and put it in a bowl. Add diced chicken, black beans, onions, corn, some…

I'm keeping my breakfasts to 300 calories and under. This morning I made a fried egg and had it on a piece of 9-grain whole wheat toast.

Agreed. People sometimes use different calculations and they don't match up. I don't really want to say the exact recipe because I don't want to point fingers at anyone. I don't know who posted it. Anyway, I'm picky about tortillas. I don't want them tasting like cardboard. I love the taste of good corn tortillas. The…

I halved the recipe and made sure I used half of all ingredients. It kind of shocked me that the tortillas were 140 calories apiece for a medium-sized wheat flour tortilla. The entire recipe was to be 370 per serving and instead of making eight, I made just made four, but I also cut all ingredients by half. (sigh) Oh well,…

I also believe that the food industry is guilty of using additives that have a known addictive effect. The cigarette industry was caught red-handed doing that and they were forced to stop the additives. We have grown to crave sugars and salt and highly seasoned foods. It's like we have to be over-stimulated to be…

I have been in a similar situation. Simply reducing fats and increasing vegetables has not worked well for me. I am now working on cutting carbs and going with some fats, protein foods, vegetables and fruit. I just got going on this a few days ago and I don't want to weigh more than once weekly. I guess, I would say to try…

My friend is doing WW Freestyle and she is allowed 27 pts, I think. She is still on wt loss. Will be going to maintenance soon. Not sure how many points that will be.

I'm on 1700, but I'm trying to keep it closer to 1500. I have found that a hard-boiled egg in the morning with my coffee will go a long way. I've been making taco salads with two ounces of chicken and half a cup of black beans, diced jicama, heavy on the greens: cabbage, lettuce, spinach leaves. A large helping adds up to…

Wow! That was eye-opening! I did a year or so of weighing, but now I've been eye-balling and I'm guessing that I'm over more often than not. Not by a lot, but as he said, "It adds up over the course of the day." Might be better to over-estimate those times I have to guesstimate.

I've gone with 0.5 pounds a week. It is an easily doable number. If I'm eating more one week, I simply need to counter it with a little more exercise. If I can't exercise as much, I just cut a few more calories. It is just easy to manage and I'm not really in a hurry. If it takes me a year, I'm fine with it...as long as…

Well, I am leaning toward going keto. I have tried the other way and I just end up battling food cravings and yoyoing. It wasn't satisfying because I wasn't getting enough protein. My good friend was doing a modified vegetarian diet with low protein and low fat. She had to go off because she started losing her hair by the…

I chose my goal weight as a beginning goal. It is where I want to get to regardless of whether or not I go further. I feel like assigning myself manageable goals will assure myself that I can actually reach the goal. If I chose a perfect weight for me, it would look like such an unreachable goal that I will be easily…

Hi and welcome. I have had total knee replacements done on both knees for osteoarthritis. I just had the second one done six months ago and I am able to walk a couple of miles and ride a stationary bike without difficulty. If you start with just a few minutes and build up gradually, you should be fine. Make sure your doc…

I'm sure it isn't anything new, but I often grab a soft avocado and mash it up with a bit of lemon juice, garlic powder and a tablespoon of salsa. I spread it on toast or scoop it up with a few chips.

I'm not wild about some shandys. They often have a bit more 'beer' or 'ale' taste than I care for. But I have found some hard ciders or some of the fruity ales that I simply adore. I will look at the can or bottle to see calorie count and sodium amount. There can be a big difference between them. For example: Angry Orchard…

And what is a cheat day? I really and honestly don't understand what people really means by that because, in my opinion and according with the definition of "cheat," it doesn't apply to a diet. 1) to deprive of something valuable by the use of deceit or fraud 2) to influence or lead by deceit, trick, or artifice [/quote] I…
-
Nope! I do not log cheat days. Those are parties, birthdays, holidays and I do not want to mess with figuring out every single thing I eat. I mean, I will do it occasionally, but mostly I just want to enjoy my family/friend time without all the hassle.

You can take a photo of the barcode on an item and it will automatically log your item. For example: On your phone when you pull up your diary in MFP there is a barcode in the upper right corner. Click it and hold the camera over the barcode of whatever item you are wanting to log. It will automatically pull it up. Then…

I thaw out my chicken or whatever and dry it off before I weigh it. If I cook it first, I will log it as cooked.

Honestly, I don't avoid any vegetables that I love. I just make sure not to have very much of it and not very often. If I am staying within my boundaries for calories, carbs, fats...etc, I will not completely avoid something. I'd love to just say I won't eat anything white/starch/carb, but that is simply too high of a…

Went out to a pub last evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. Had one hard cider. Dinner was a fancy burger smothered in some kind of bacon crumble sauce. It was not guilt-free! We also shared a rich dessert between the three of us. I didn't log it because I haven't a clue what all was in that stuff. I probably should…

"Unfortunately, they can't. They can only see the recipe name listed in your diary." Well, darn. Guess email it is. (Or Google messenger.)

Not a food product. For me, it's my Instant Pot. I am learning to use and love it! I made Chicken Tika Masala from a new Indian instant pot recipe book I bought. I love Indian food (actually I love many ethnic foods). Spooned over 1/2 cup of short grain brown rice it came to about 300 calories.

Excellent idea! I hadn't thought of screenshots. I have my diary open, so if someone wants to look at it or a recipe, they can.

Thank you! My son and I shared lunch today and so he went into my diary and grabbed the recipe. That worked out well. But my daughter and daughter-in-law would like the recipe I had and I couldn't find a way to share without just sending it to their email and having them log all the parts of it themselves. It works.
