Soft Tacos and Burritos
One of the mainstays in my diet are soft tacos or burritos. I find that corn tortillas taste better and they are lower in carbs, fats, and calories. Even two corn tortillas works out to lower calories than one full-size flour tortilla. In order to stay under 300 calories, I chop up more veggies and limit the diced chicken…

Caprese Salad
I was afraid the cheese would be too many calories and I got a nice surprise. Belgioso Mozzarella Slices 2.5 oz - 175 cal Tomato Slices - 30 cal Fresh Basil Leaves - 2 cal Balsamic Glaze 1 tbsp drizzled on top - 25 cal Total: 232 Calories

A Blissful Dinner!
So my daughter and I are back on the low carb plan. Not full-on keto, but low carb. Anyway, I've been at it for three days and I'm down 2.5 pounds! Today we tried the Taste Republic Cauliflower Linguini and it was great! I'm not all that fond of the cauli pizza crust, but the linguini was very good. We used turkey sausage…

Small Success!
I'm back on the low-carb plan. Not going full-on keto, just low carb. I've been at it for three days and have lost 2.5 pounds! I'm sure much of that was fluid retention, but as long as I see progress I'll be happy. I don't care if it takes two years to lose 30 pounds, I just want to see the scale showing a downward…

Small Success
I have almost completed my first week on WW Freestyle and I'm still logging on MFP. I am not doing keto, but my daughter is and has lost 10 in about a month. I am reducing my carbs to very few. I am not planning to weigh until Sunday morning, so I don't know how much I have lost. It's so early yet that it is probably just…

Zoodles Recipes?
I apologize if this has been discussed already. Now that it is garden season, I have an abundance of zucchini and spaghetti squash. I'm looking for low carb recipes that act as a main dish for lunch or dinner. I have a couple that I do, but I'm open to new ideas.

Keto vs WW Freestyle
So my daughter is having really great results on keto. I've been skeptical, but I can't deny her success. I've just started WW Freestyle and it hasn't had much time to work, but I'm down a couple of pounds. I'm really tempted to shift into more of the keto plan, but I don't want to stop logging in my WW app. However, the…

Recipe Confusion
So I am tracking my meals on MFP, as well as doing WW Freestyle and logging there, as well. I found a recipe that stated it was just 370 cal/serving in the MFP Blog recipes. I couldn't figure out how to open the actual written recipe, so I just watched the video. It was using corn tortillas. I went to my local Mexican Deli…

Sharing Recipes on MFP?
My whole extended family is doing MFP and we are wondering if there is a way of sharing our logged recipes with each other. I have a ton of recipes that I have created and keep them in the Recipes area of my profile. However, I see no way to export a recipe to one of my MFP friends without getting out of MFP and just…

Samsung Health App
So my expensive Samsung phone bit the dust over the holidays. I replaced it with the cheaper Samsung J7. My old phone came with Samsung Health app installed. It could track my steps and I loved the simplicity of that. The Samsung J7 did not come with the Samsung Health app, so I downloaded it. However, I cannot find the…

Coconut Milk?
I am wanting to make a batch of tomato/orange soup. Instead of using half and half or heavy cream, I would like to substitute canned coconut milk or coconut cream. However, I am finding a wide range of fat and calorie amount per can. Basically, I want it to add flavor and give the soup the richness that cream would give…

Quick, Low-Cal Lunch
This is a little recipe I've used for years. I wish I had more like this that are simple, quick and very low cal. Feel free to add your easy, low cal secret recipe. 1 foil packet of tuna 1 diced apple 2 stalks sliced celery 1 tbsp mayo Mix up for a nice lunch. I've also added shredded lettuce or cabbage occasionally.

Weight Loss and Exercise Reseach

Healthiest Brand of Flour Tortillas?
Any ideas on flour tortillas? I'm definitely using more corn tortillas and buying them fresh at a local Mexican market. However, we still use flour tortillas for a few things and I'm looking for a brand that is lowest in fats, simple carb, calories...etc. I don't mind using whole wheat. Someone suggested Trader Joe's…

Black Beans and Other Legumes
Just wondering what your thoughts are on beans. I know they are full of fiber and protein. My concern is the high calorie count. Is it much like eating an avocado...the health benefits of it outweigh the excessive calories? I made black bean chili with lean ground beef and the resulting 500 calorie per serving of chili is…

Anyone Bake Their Bread? I Have Issues...
So my weight has not budged more than a pound or two in the 6 weeks I've been on MFP. I'm pretty sure it's a combination of not enough exercise and under-calculating my calories. I do weigh and measure things, but there is plenty of room for error; especially if I use the MFP database. I bake my own bread from a recipe…

Game Day Meals?
Foodball on Sundays, and I crave the typical nachos, hot wings and other high fat, high calorie junk food. Anyone have ideas for some great game day food that won't blow the diet?

Walking Calculations?
I'm just wondering if the MFP cardio calculator takes into consideration that when a person walks a dog at that moderate pace of 3.0 mph, a male dog is going to be stopping to sniff and lift his leg on everything standing? *sigh* I get frustrated trying to keep up my moderate pace and I end up deducting 5-10 minutes from…

Coffee Creamer Question
I have a bottle of Coffee-Mate Liquid Creamer Sugar-Free French Vanilla. The bottle lists it as 15 calories per 1 Tbsp serving size. When I bring it up in the search and put in 2.5 servings (2.5 Tbsp) it tells me it's 63 calories. To my calculations it should be 37.5 (almost twice as much). Any one have an explanation for…

I Need to Re-evaluate!
I'm feeling defeated. I don't want to whine, but I've been on MFP now for 30 days and I have not lost a single pound. I'm a good 35 pounds overweight, so it isn't unreasonable to expect to see even a small change. I feel like I'm doing the right things. I weigh my food carefully with a good digital scale, I've increased my…

My Oatmeal Topping
Well, it's getting cooler again and I start cooking more savory or hearty foods. One of the things I eat a fair amount of in cooler weather is oatmeal. One recipe is for a overnight refrigerator oatmeal/yogurt thing that I'll share later. This one is for a topping that I put together for my oatmeal. I hit the bulk bins at…

Calculating Food Question
I'm just wondering, is there a way of calculating food calories before I log them? Without going out of MFP and googling? Sometimes when I'm trying to decide what to eat I'd like to look up the caloric value before I decide. I know I can always log it and then delete it, but wondered if there was a way around that. If not,…

True or False? A Calorie is a Calorie is a Calorie.
My nephew and his wife follow Paleo religiously. He says that calories from different sources behave differently in the body. I always thought that too. I was taught in nursing school that the body converts carbs to glycogen and in turn glucose, and it's readily absorbed into the bloodstream. Much glucose is absorbed by…

Celeste
Hi everyone. I'm over 50 and just getting into a diet and exercising program. Mostly brisk walking every day and working on controlling my dietary intake. Trying to consume less and burn more. So far I'm really liking the program.

The Advantage of Weighing Food
I have a great food scale that is digitally operated which is helping me stay much more accurate when I log my intake. I started using it because I had a bit of a meltdown when I logged in the ingredients in my sandwich (homemade light wheat bread, a thin slice of deli ham, 1/2 T mayo, 3/4 oz cheese, tomato and lettuce).…

Why Am I Gaining?
So I'm five days into it and I have exercised every day and managed to stay under my max calorie allotment for 4 out of the 5 days. Yet I'm a pound heavier than when I began five days ago. What's up?
