I was in the same position 12 months ago and with MFP I have been able to lose close to 50kg and still going. Helps to have a great group of friends doing the same to keep you motivated!!

You are not alone. In January 2012 I was a size 32 and having lost close to 50kg I am now wearing a 22/24.

Just wanted to let you know that yesterday I was one of 2497 “idiots” who tackled the Eureka Climb which saw me climb 88 floors of Eureka Tower which involved 1642 steps. I had set myself a goal of 1.25 hours but finished in 57 minutes and 15 seconds so was pretty pleased with that effort. Not the fastest climb (with a lot…

What start time do you have? I think we are heading off in the 10.00am group. Hoping that we may be able to meet in person.

Surprisingly my legs always seem to cope OK. It is the breathing that I have trouble with. Was pretty pleased today as went to 1000 Steps (which is actually about 760 steps plus walking tracks) and managed to do the climb twice. Did the first climb in about 30 minutes which is a BP time and the second climb in 35 minutes…

Logging makes you realise just how bad some things were. I would not think twice at polishing off half a large pizza and think about having another slice but now I actually feel guilty having one piece!!!

I saw a dietician when I started and she said that it is 80% food and 20% exercise. So, yes, you can lose weight from changing your dietary habits. I generally only have time to exercise on the weekends (try and walk at least 5km or do stair climbing) but during the week I do have a 10 min walk to and from the carpark to…

I had not seen my Nan in 13 years (we moved overseas) and I went to stay with her. My cousin had gone blind through diabetes in that time and I heard him ask Nan what I was like. Her response was "she's just like Uncle Bob". Might not seem much, but as a kid all we ever heard was her picking on her brother for being a very…

Thanks for putting up the pics Bel. Baby steps all the way but they are in the right direction!!!

Feel free to add me. I have a lot of weight to lose as well but am on the way.

I have lost about 70lb so far (33.3kg) but have at least another 100 to go at least. Feel free to add me.

The dietician told me that hitting a specific number of glasses per day is not essential but to look at the colour of your pee at midday. If it is a light colour then you are drinking enough, if not then have another glass.

For breakfast we have a new product in Australia called Belvita which are a cereal biscuit. Have with a cuppa and they keep you going for hours. Nice and easy to grab.

Brilliant little book!!

Pretty much what I have been doing with success.

I recently had a huge exercise weekend and burnt 1000s of calories on the HRM and know that I did some work as my leg muscles were crazily sore. Jumped on the scales Thursday and I was up 2.5kg!!! Spoke to a friend at work and she said that it can take the body some time to get used to the extra work and will put energy…

I have PCOS and as I started this jorney I went and saw a dietician that was recommended by my doctor. She told me to avoid going low carb as whilst there would be initial strong weightloss it would be not sustainable. She has suggested that I aim for 50% carbs, 30% fat and 20% protein which I have been doing since January…

Ice Cream is my major temptation and I make my own (very high in sugar) as I love making it. I now measure out a cup, take the rest down to Dad so that it is out of my freezer and ration out my portion into 4 serves (each 200 calories). I dish it up in a very small dish so that it looks like a lot and really savour every…

I have been looking into the Walk At Home DVDs as an option.

You will soon get the hang of it!! Welcome!!

I have been working within MFP since the beginning of January at their suggested calorie allowances. Whilst I have had some ups and downs during that time, I have averaged around 2lb per week if I look at the overall figures so think for me it is working brilliantly.
-
I am of similar weight and statistics (actually scary that I have just revealed my weight) and am set at sedentary (as I have a full time desk job) and wanting to lose 1kg (2lb) per week. MFP sets me a 1000 calorie deficit per day and I end up with 1780 calories per day before exercise.

I stop mine once I finish but can see the benefit in keeping it running until heart rate is back down to "normal" as whilst it is still elevated then you are burning calories.
-
I take a complete vitamin and mineral every morning as figure it can't not help.
