  • Went for my first ultrasound today. We saw that baby, and heard its heart beat! It was amazing! Question: Does anyone have experience with prenatal massage? I get regular massages ever 6 weeks, but was curious how often a prenatal massage can/should be done.
  • Based on one of the recommendations from this message board, I went to check out the website for Fit Pregnancy magazine. I found this fantastic article, and thought I would share (my apologies if the link has already been posted and I missed it). And in the spirit of exercising during pregnancy, I just finished a 30 minute…
  • Hi Ladies! I've been on MFP for about a year now; I started using it while I was training for my first half marathon (May 2010). I just found out that I am pregnant with our first (about 5 weeks I think)! I was so excited to find this message board, because I am scared to death of losing all of the progress I have made in…
  • Congratulations you look FANTASTIC!
  • As a couple of other people mentioned, I think you need to build up the muscles. Also, shoes were mentioned...this is another very key point. I would encourage you to go to a local running store and have them watch you run/walk to look for pronation. If you are pronating, but aren't in a shoe to help support your foot,…
  • So glad the pressure worked! I'm looking forward to my run tomorrow too! I'm in for at least 10 miles tomorrow. I have a 15K a week from Saturday. Then just a few short weeks to my half marathon! Have a great run!
  • The programs the others listed are very good programs for starting to run. The biggest thing I would emphasize is STRETCH!!! I can't stress that enough. I ran short distances (1-2 miles) for a few years before I started trying to train for a half marathon. And I injured my foot pretty bad by not stretching. Now I stretch…
  • Thanks guys! I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of you, and helping to support each other. JeanneTops, I will definately check out your blog.
  • Jay, one of the things I have tried for side pains is to apply pressure the spot that hurts for a few minutes while i am running. The extra pressure seems to help me push through the pain, and then within about 5 minutes its gone. I don't know if there is anything it "actually" accomplishes, other than gives my brain…
  • Though I personally, did not have that much weight to loose, my husband does/did. We have been slowly working together on it for several years now (he's lost 48 lbs so far). I think the biggest thing I have learned, as the spouse, is how important it is to encorage each other. I don't think either one of us would have lost…
  • I tend to agree with Beth. I have been running "small distances" (1-2 miles) over the past couple of years, and in the past 8 months have started training for a half marathon. Even when I was running the short distances, 3 miles or less, I was not giving myself enough time to heal, and I ended up injurying my foot. It took…
  • Great job! Running across that finish line is a great feeling!
  • Made it 9 miles this morning, I was aiming for 10, but I was having a wardrobe malfunction, so I finally gave up.
  • @ Karna6e I'm coming off a foot injury, and the doctor put in me a "semi" orthotic insert. Not only did it make the painin my foot go away, I do think there is less pressure on my knees. Good luck!
  • Apparently there was a lot of rain running over the weekend. I too ran 8 mi in the rain on Saturday. I did a little over 5 mi today, but I fizzled out on the last mile. I should have eaten before I ran this afternoon, I'm sure it was because I was hungry and just low on energy. Keep up the great work everyone!
  • Best of luck! We are here for you!
  • Ran three miles today. It felt good. Saturday is 7-8 miles!
  • Tom, I thought your ticker was AWESOME! Hope you don't mind I copied.
  • Hi! I am running the Indianapolis mini-marathon at the end of May. I just ran a 10K training run on Saturday, and I was really proud of myself because I'm coming off a foot injury, and I finished the run! But I can definately tell I over did it, I tried to do a 3 mile run yesterday, I made it through a mile, and then…
  • I am new to the site, but my husband has been using the site for almost 2 months and says its great! Any help or support you need, I hope you find it here.
