  • Would you be willing to give a brief rundown of what all is on the spreadsheet, and how to best utilize it? I opened it up last night after a long day at work, and I'm fairly certain part of my brain exploded.
  • No! Popcorn and all that is part of the experience. If I'm spending the money to go out for the evening, I'm going to have a treat with my movie. Particularly if it's an ipic theatre, or in imax.
  • I started with the C25K program last July, so around 8 weeks? My training got off-course somewhat earlier this year due to surgery, so I'm going through it again to get back to the steady running. Make sure you're running slowly, and then slow down some more, that's the main thing to remember for breaking through the…
  • A cup of oatmeal with chia seeds, sliced almonds, raisins, cinnamon, and ginger. And 3 cups of coffee to wash it all down.
  • Turning 40 in February! My birthday lands mid-week this time around, and I'm celebrating by running my first marathon the Sunday prior, and then getting on a cruise ship the next day. Planning to spend most of the actual day indulging in whatever the spa happens to be offering, relaxing with DH on the serenity…
  • It makes me sad every time I hear that someone has been exposed to that kind of rudeness. You have been kicking some serious butt, and doing a stellar job at the weight loss. Please don't let people's idiocy derail you, you deserve so much more! I hope to see you get back on track and continue becoming the best you you can…
  • I keep two water bottles on my desk, and remind myself that they both need to be empty before leaving for the day. I like the idea of setting reminders tho.
  • That lunch menu could definitely use a revamp! We usually packed a lunch growing up, but I do remember days when the school lunch seemed to have lima beans in everything, and then there was that half a red delicious apple (which was often a side) that always tasted like soap. And who the heck thought it was a good idea to…
  • With the walkout push-ups I try and make sure to take big "steps" with my hands to eliminate the time issues; instead of starting with my hands near my feet I use that time to take the first big step out so that I can be ready within a three-count. Getting back to the starting position is a bit tricky, but still doable…
  • I sprinkle chia seeds on my salad; super noms! :-)
  • Flaming Hot Cheetos would be my no-no food. On that note, I should exclude anything resembling a tortilla chip. I seem to have absolutely zero willpower when it comes to those things. Is there some sort of hypnotherapy or detox camp or something I can attend for that?
  • ^^What this guy said!! As for me, I'm still hoping one of these days to find the vodka station during a race. At least I know there's a beer tent at the finish line! :drinker:

  • Walking is totally cool is pretty much all races; sometimes they even have a special category specifically for walkers. I'm friends with a lovely couple who walk marathons together, and in every race I've been in there are plenty of people walking. I did the Run or Dye 5k last weekend with my brother and some friends, and…
  • . Aaaah I love Doc Martin!! We've been watching after the season airs when it comes on Netflix. I love Supernatural and Parks & Recreation as well, among a litany of other shows.
  • Okay gavians, your unpaid advertisements have finally convinced me to take a chance with the Fibro-Response. You said you take 4 in the am, is that correct? How is that dosage working out for you?
  • When I started out with C25K, my fast walk and slow run speeds were almost the same (3.7 and 4.0mph, respectively) I think you definitely just need to slow it down.
  • I was shocked this morning by my two eggs at breakfast - cholesterol of 424 when my cap for the day is 300. Yowza!:grumble: I guess maybe I should start eating just the whites?
  • So it was you who ate that big bite out of my sun!!! http://foxnewsinsider.com/2013/07/30/chunk-sun-headed-toward-earth-2-million-miles-hour
  • Here's a link to a discussion on the Runner's World boards about this very subject: http://community.runnersworld.com/topic/marathon-running-and-weight-training?cm_mmc=NL-TrainingExtra-_-1380722-_-07302013-_-How-can-I-combine-marathon-training-and-lifting%3F Hope people find it helpful!
  • I think someone ate a thesaurus for breakfast.
  • When I was little and we'd go out for dinner, my mom would give me the salad that came with her meal and she would eat my french fries. I thought I was getting the better end of the deal because the salad had beets on it. Mmmmmm!!! Maybe if kids meals had healthier choices people wouldn't get the chicken fingers for the…
  • If you look at some of HH's other training guides, he mentions continuing strength training (if it's something you're already doing) on Tuesdays and Thursdays after your runs. I wouldn't expect to be seeing any massive gains while training for a marathon though!
  • tryptophan maybe? makes me want to go watch seinfeld lol www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhh-nU9upHg
  • I have an old pair of road zeroes that I wear at the gym. They're like hugs for your feet, and are amazing for both running and lifting.

  • Be careful not to push yourself too hard. It's very easy to overdo it, which makes you feel bad physically, which makes you feel bad about yourself, which makes you feel like it's pointless to even try. Make sure you pay close attention during the initial walk-through, and invest in a trainer if you can. Even if you can…
  • maybe if it's this car
  • that works; thanks!
  • I give a little wave, smile and nod, or the like because I run around my block and it seems like the right thing to do when you see the same neighbors out there with you all the time. Usually people reciprocate; I've never thought to chase anyone down and knock them over for not responding though. Hmmm.... maybe…
  • My gym has both wet and dry saunas, but I'm not really sure how/when/why to use them. I just know one is all steamy looking and the other isn't. :ohwell: Are you supposed to bring water for yourself or anything like that? I'd be all over that place (especially in the winter) if I knew what to do! ETA: I've heard that…
